Because nana truly showed the nature of people in real life. Shoujos, especially ones that are a bit older, tended to be far more realistic and gut wrenching. But nana shows how contradictory and selfish people can be despite displaying themselves as “good.” This can be said for Hachi, especially around the whole pregnancy situation. Some “good” people are good for a limited amount of time before moving on, most of the time for their own gain and wellbeing. After all these years, nana is still as raw as it was when it first came out. It can make you feel emotional more because each and every character’s lives can be and are some people’s lives in real life. There are people who’ve had dreams just like these characters, had moments just like these characters, and even had failures just like these characters. It can resonate more than the aot’s, the Naruto’s, and the demon slayer’s because it’s simply a worldly occurrence which reflect many people in this world.
I've read the manga & seen the show & I have to say I really like Nana O because of my passion for music & ambition to play in a rock band. Itd be nice to see this on TV
It’s ironic to me how hachi is here wishing that nana doesn’t leave her behind but she is the one who left nana behind and didn’t implicate her in her life affairs after she got with Takumi and shit happened
Yes, totally. I love how Ai Yazawa portrayed relationships so realistically. People (and love) are messy, and contradictory sometimes, they change as situations do and not always for the better. There are very few truly “good” people in Nana - as in real life, people aren’t nice or good or selfless all the time. It was the same in Paradise Kiss. The ending of that, too. I could write a thesis on how accurately this manga\anime portrays the human condition and relationships between people. And that people can be in your life for a short time (relatively) yet make the biggest impact on you. Controversial, but (spoilers for anyone not read it) I like how the manga was left, I actually think it was perfect. Sometimes people just leave. And that’s it. And there is no closure or goodbyes. Then it’s left up to you to decide if Nana O ever comes back (on my more positive days, she comes back or Hachi finds her, on my more cynical days, Hachi never sees her again - I actually like that one more tbh). After all these years could Ai ever write something “perfect” enough for a lot of fans? I don’t think so.
Often the things that trigger us about others are pointing at the truths about us we don’t want to acknowledge. for example, if you’re always scared of others leaving you, chances are, you’re the one who has a tendency to abandon others in ways you don’t even realize (like abandoning them emotionally even if you’re there).
Same, I remember that I saw it like almost 13 years ago (OMG), my sister's had at the time like 7 years old and I told her not to see it because it was sooooo sad hahahahahaha but now is time XD
i love this show so much will forever be my fav

Tell me why I nana depressed me more than aot
As someone who has aot at the top of their list and loves it beyond belief... I'm scared to watch more of nana
