The Little Rascals 1930's - The tile section was burned by reel projector. We watched these old films back in the 60's on a silver screen with a 8mm reel projector. TV was only launched in 1976 and this was our only entertainment!

My mom recalls it as the inauguration flight of the 747 named "Swartberg" back in the 70's. These aircraft was named after mountain ranges in South Africa. Surely everyone could remember the "Helderberg" tragedy when that plane crashed of the Mozambique coast years ago. This flight was extremely low and you have to watch the video more than once!

Nie baie ouens kon 'n 120 ry nie. As jy hom kon ry kon jy alles ry. Jammer dat ek nie meer die name en gesigte almal kan onthou nie.... en noudat ek na 39 jaar se rook nou aan 'n strooitjie moet suig maak my kop nog meer plat... hehe!
Nou dat ek daaraan dink... Ons was meer by "Queens" as by Star.... met so 'n donker dans gaaitjie waar die meisies soms modderbad stoei gehad het.

@@charliesadv8493 Ja ek het waarvan die eerste video afgehaal of verwyder was seker agv koepiereg of iets. Omdat ek al my lewe lank bike gery het, tot so twee jaar terug kyk ek alle bike videos en veral as daar met panniers getoer word! Jy is besig om nou 'n lekker ry-groep bysmekaar te kry en dat sal sorg vir lekker videos!
Ek huil elke keer my oë uit as ek na dié video kyk! Weet julle hoe hartseer is dit! Vandag, 'n paar jaar later... is dit hoekom ek is soos ek is.
For financing my studies in the early nineties I was trucking (Trans Europe) - this machine was the first I drove. Estimated 50 to 60.000km. Nice to see it again.

Johan, ek was in Apr 2015 weer op Diskobolos, en dit lyk sleg. Die parade grond buite die basis, naby die swembad, is amper toegegroei, en selfs die parade grond in die basis, het baie bossies. Duidelik word daar nie meer geskoffel nie. Ek was in 1993 in 102 Bat, met Maj (ag bliksem, nou kan ek nie sy van onthou nie. Kort ou met snor), en Kapt Coetzer as 2 IB 102 Bat. Kol Muller was BV. Was jy daar daai tyd, want jy klink bekend? Ek is seker daar was 'n Sers du Toit gewees. Jack Hindon se naam staan darem nog. Dit nog nie verander nie

Hi Charlie. Was Maj De Villiers nie by GOV by die skool nie? Ek het ook al baie name vergeet... behalwe natuurlik Kol Muller, RSM Gert Theron. In 93 was ek toetser by B&O. Ek was self 'n paar jaar later by die eenheid en dit het toe al begin "anders" lyk. Die twee opmanne tussen die parade gronde was toe 'n SAWI winkel. Ek was die eerste lid van die eenheid wat in Kimberley aangekom het met die voorspan vanaf Youngsfield. In 94 het ek klaar gemaak. My beste herinneringe van die weermag was tussen 1987 tot 1989 wat ek op die grens spandeer het. Dankie dat jy laat weet het! Groete Toitjie.
Looking through these video's after many years, I have to say why the comments was disabled from the others. There was a lot of negative comment and discussion about the Lohatla gun indecent that had nothing to do with my videos. That was after my time. As for now, I would like to revisit the Diskobolos base. Another item on my bucket list.

Youngsfield 10 AA Regiment Feb 1987 - December 1988 - Spent 3 months in Rundu and then 9 months in Oshakati. Major Lindsay was our Commander with Sergeant Major Gouws was Regimental Sergeant Major. I was signalman and LPD-20 Radar Operator. Lance Bombardier David Livens..
Thanks for the post! Awesome... Was myself on the LPD20... At least they realized not to use the Tupperware there!.. at Ondangwa airport as a first camp with Cape Garrison... after that joined PF. After the relocation to Kimberley, I myself was still there when Col Lindsay in AA. AO Gouws didn't relocate. My initial service 86 - 87. I served border duty in 88 CGA and joined Jan 89 again. Missed each other in the same "time frame".

Youngsfield 1980- 1981, 102 Battery. Anybody remember names like Sgt. Mike Marais, tall blond guy? His buddy Sgt. Stockenstrom, played lock for western province army? During shooting exercise at Strandfontein a trooper on the gun didn't shout "Stand clear" when switching to radar control and the gun swung around and klapped Sgt. Stockenstroom clean off his feet. Luckily not too bad, stiff neck for a week or so. Sgt. Oosthuizen, Oosie, very nice guy; apparently tried out for the recces and was killed in Angola, don't know if the story is true. Major Henn? Staf Theron, nice guy? Was the CO a colonel Deysel? With upturned black moustache I think? We were first troops to move in to brand new bungalows in our second year. Sent to Laingsburg to help clean up after the flood. Operation Protea at Ondangwa airport. Four high towers around Oshskati town, I was at Golf 2. Goeie tyd wat jy nie wil oor hê nie........
A bit before my time, but Staff Theron eventually became RSM of AAS/10AAR in Diskobolos Kimberley after the unit moved there. Jy het op die regte plek gepos want meeste ouens wat iets google oor AA kom hier uit. Ek is bietjie verbaas dat die videos eintlik min kyke het. Dankie vir jou mooi boodskappie en altyd lekker om van ou gunners te hoor!
Fiat 300pct Ek het maar toevallig op die video afgekom, lekker verrasing om goed van Youngsfield te sien. Buddy wat saam met my in Youngsfiels was bly nou in Durbanville en hy sê so klompie jare gelede kom sy garden service by hom aan en wie is die eienaar..... staf Theron! Seker maar nadat hy op pensioen van die army gegaan het. Ek het gehoor 10 AADS het geskuif en vandag is Youngsfield een of ander admin basis. Wat ek vreeslik geniet het jare gelede is toe ek daar verby ry en sien daar loop nou 'n reuse groot HIGHWAY reg deur die "Wit Masjien"! "Staaldak, webbing & geweer" was die mees gehate frase in my tyd daar, en daarmee saam "Wit masjien". Maar die Kaap het tog..... rubbed off on me want ek bly nou al 17 jaar hier! Voorspoedige nuwe jaar!
