No surprises with that set-up. A flat surface shaper works well, keep a polished finish and take your time. Isn't this what happens adding different rocker assemblies?. Are the springs clearances good? Mopar springs dont always fit under the rocker, chevy beehives do.

With production tolerances between 2 manufacturers and being shaft rockers your bound to have some issuse. chevys are ball mounted, no real problems with alignment.

Who would have thought that a paint stripper like acitone would ever remove paint🤨. You said it had been pai Ted several years ago and presumably has years of milage on it and hadn't peeled, flaked or come off in any way until you started messing with it. So just leave it alone! Sure there's no practical reason to paint the I side of the oil galley like that but the kind of obbesive compulsive thing a meth head would do.

Can it be dipped in a vat or sprayed with something to remove most of that ?

Do you regurly run acetone and wire brushes in your engine oil..? Because im not seeing aproblem otherwise, there shouldbt be anything in the engine oil tgat removes it

you can just poke a hole in bottom of can to drain all the oil, where I live the auto parts store takes the old filter and they grind them up and squish out oil to recycle them at a recycling plant.

Nice job! I so remember these units, had several back in the day, even had a service manual. I bought 1 working unit (and two parts units) for my 73 Charger SE, with console mount and DIN cord for $100. I've had it apart many times to fix this and fix that. I'm looking for one just to have in my collection, working or not. It was finicky, that may explain why it was only available for three years, (71-73) not to mention it was a expensive option. And yes, it does record off the radio too, although only in mono. Good luck!
