SPC Alignment Shim Install
Переглядів 8848 місяців тому
Get your alignment dialed in with alignment shims. These SPC Alignment shims " EZ Shims" allow you to correct camber and toe for vehicles equipped with a solid rear beam axle. (corollas, siennas, older volkswagens etc) This ultimately improves handling and contributes to even tire wear.

What rpm did the lift engages?
Im running an early 03 ecu so about 6.2k the dyno chart suggests the changeover starts at around 5.6k Followup coming soon with a Link ECU and a tune 👌🏽
I'd love to find one of these one day. Looks great
Gotta stay scouring fb marketplace and junkyards. If one comes around in our group chat, I'll let you know 🤘🏼
This is going to be part of my summer project lol
100% worth it 👌🏽 hardest part is getting the new bushing in. As long as you heat only the OUTSIDE of the old bushing, removal and cleanup is easy 😂 I appreciate you watching 🙏🏼
It it a much rougher ride?
There's definitely more feedback, but I wouldn't call it excessive. It's still daily driveable and if you have coilovers you can adjust your damping accordingly. I think it's a "must do" and they last way longer than the rubber ones
Celica getting some love! Can't wait to see this thing back on the road
Hell yea bro! its not far off, just needs more money 😅
Your daughters emotional support was so endearing. Great video man. I love the old car revival content, looking forward to more videos from you.
She definitely takes interest in working on cars, gotta pass it on to save the next generation 🤣 appreciate you watching 🙏🏼 definitely more coming
2025 We doing BIG things 🎉 much love brotha love the video ❤ much support
excellent sir
Appreciate you watching! 🙏🏼
Great video, I was looking for a review like this. Definitely will considering these bags
@@crvnts much appreciated 🙏🏼 both solid choices for the price
You literally just broke everything down in the simplest easiest way possible thanks for the good video angles I'm a verry visual person. Now I can fix my 03 Rolla 🙂
@@jam_thagoat3283 tried to keep it as simple as possible and how important this is if you want a good handling car. Appreciate you watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
good process, well done
Good results.
I had the same issue with my car, I ended up buying shorter springs and it helped with lowering the lowest point of the adjustment. I am running 6" springs up front and 8" in the rear, I think you can go lower in the front and get helper springs to make up the difference.
@blonzitsaloongarage i ended up just running coilovers and returning the ground controls. Still a cool option that may work better for some other chassis. Appreciate you watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I’m trying this tomorrow as a ty to my brother for lending me his extra car while mine is in the shop & this is the best explanation/how to video on this kit I’ve seen. They are super foggy & yellow so I’m just gonna take my time on each stage until they look like yours. I’m probably gonna be on this video for like 2 hours tomorrow 😂😂 thank you!!
@alexandra4873_ as long as you take your time with it, it should come out nice and clear. Thanks for watching🙏🏼🤘🏼
Did changing the bushings affect your alignment specs or was it the same until you did the camber shims?
@hman0429 yes, it brought my passenger side back to within spec, but my beam is worn and tweaked so my driver side was still out of spec. I only had to run a shim on the driver side
@ Darn I was almost hoping you’d say no😅 I had an alignment scan today and was just gonna put the shims on (My driver side is positive camber and passenger is negative, plus both sides are toe’d to the right) but then I saw your shim video and mentioned the bushings😅 guess I’ll have to go back for at least 1 more scan after the bushings. Thanks for the clear and thorough walk thru.
@hman0429 awwww yeah I also had a few extra alignments 🤣 but in order, set ride height, install all bushings then alignment, correct with shims, then final alignment 🤣 But once it's dialed in, it's like the car chakras are all aligned and it feels amazing to drive 😂 thanks for watching and the support 🤘🏼🤘🏼 anybquestions feel free to hmu
@@Ma70rk looking forward to the suspension reaching enlightenment 🙏🏽😂 Thanks again 👊🏽
Great video man. A big Honda guy..but I've always had a soft spot for the Celicas
Much appreciated 🙏🏼 same here, love the Hondas and honestly believe their 4 cyl are superior but I got a thing for toyotas 😂 thanks again for watching 🤘🏼
Omg! You got it running!!😂
Good job Jet!
I love how excited you are for the fix! congrats
it was a moral victory for sure, appreciate you watching 🙏
🤝
@@tsquared4455 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Did it perform. Better ???
Absolutely. This in conjunction with the alignment shims and ride height. Geometry is correct and handling is best it's ever been 👌🏽. I think it's necessary for lowered cars
Dad had a hatch version when I was in high school. I drove that car a LOT. His was full leather, the interior was SO nice in that car. Manual trans too.... car was fast for what it was. I know it will go at least 120 I miss that thing!🤑
Lol this one is the exact opposite 🤣 barebones, surprised it came with A/C. Idk if it will hit 80mph but it's really nostalgic and a real easy car to drive. It's definitely gonna be my old man cruiser. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Hell yeah 2025🎉
Is your axle beam bushing tool made by Arc-Power? If so, the link you provided its over $400. I see there is another one made by DP Tools for about $200. Just curious which one you used
@jollytime0811 appreciate you watching and I gotta affiliate link to try and support the hobby, but here's the link to the exact tool I used. Well worth it in getting this done www.ebay.com/itm/203817786024?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=v5FgdoHwRsu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=mKyJ7zVBQiu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I have authentic Lv only one and then I bought from luxrul , wait the twins one that are authentic , sounds better.
How did you get that Celica seat in there?
@tinogg3 ill be making another diy when I find a leather gts seat. The celica and matrix seat brackets are nearly identical. You need the base from the matrix and the back frame from the celica. You'll see that the celica upper bracket is held on with 3 bolts, the matrix bracket is welded in the same spot. You need to cut above those bolt holes. You'll then have to enlarge 2 existing holes in the matrix seat bracket. Use the hardware from the celica seat to bolt the celica back to the mateix base. Feel free to message me for more details
@@Ma70rk thanks for the info. Did you ever think about looking into a FRS seat?
@tinogg3 yes, I just happen to find this gt seat in decent condition, but those and rsx seats are all options I would experiment with if I can find one at a decent price
nice, but would be much better without any music we are here to see and hear what you do and say, not listen to some random music :p
@lordkratos4747 definitely an early video, for me at least, maybe worth revisiting next time I need to pull the valve cover off. Appreciate you watching tho🤘🏼 any questions, feel free to ask
What up bro
What's good fam? 🤘🏼
hey bro was wondering you have any idea on how to get some leg room extension on the front seats? Just got myself a Matrix xr 07 and its a bit of a tight fit for a guy thats 6'4 haha also sickkk seats bro make it look so much better
@jaredsmith1944 what's up man, welcome to the matrix family 🤘🏼looking at the stock setup, possibly some extended seat rails, but I haven't tried searching (I'm not 6'4 and don't have this challenge 😭) but if you went with aftermarket seats, you could get a low seat bracket and mount the seat as far back as you need. Corbeau makes bolt in seat brackets for our car and can be paired with almost any aftermarket seat
This guys the next Larry Chen! Lol
@AustinKamuela larry Chen late to the corolla game 😂
@@Ma70rk he will show up soon enough 🤣
@@AustinKamuela he doesn't rock budget gear 😂 he probably got an LLC 😭
@@Ma70rk lmao bro he got more than that! Hes a Canon ambassador and he travels the world covering car culture. Hes the automotive journalist that every automotive journalist want to grow up and be like!
@AustinKamuela i know 😭 definitely living the dream lol but we got cooler corollas 😂
Looks sweet! I couldn't put it on my car because it looks too similar to the stock grill IMO, which I actually like better since it has some depth to it. However it's always good to have more TRD parts! I've been trying to keep my eyes out for a TRD cold air intake for my 03 XRS, even though I already have an Injen CAI. Not gonna lie, might have to find a TRD emblem the same size, glue it onto my stock grille, and follow your advice on putting the overlay on the emblem!
The TRD lower grille looks sweet tho! It'll probably be easier to touch up the paint from rock chips vs the stock plastic grille getting chipped away
@PlayinWithMahWii appreciate it! Yeah I've always wanted one. I had a TRD cold air and I gave it away to one of the matrix guys in SoCal at toyotafest. 03 is the best year 👌🏽 They do come up once in a while though. The overlay is not bad, really up close you can tell it's not oem but probably best available these days
Matrix is looking killer! I just blew up the clutch in mine, got it all tore apart.
@SamOHalloran I know mines gotta be coming in lime the next 30k. I'm waiting on a junkyard c60 to try and install the toyota helical lsd 🤞🏼 thanks again for watching !🙏🏼
Aye! Dude that TRD grille has definitely seen better days haha. Much props to you for getting it restored and it looks super clean on your '04 XRS! Glad everything worked out and you got what you wanted, best feeling ever! Can't wait for more my dude! Thanks for the shoutout as well, I haven't uploaded in a minute so let's see what's coming soon to the channel.
Thank you for this
Glad this helped 🤟thanks for watching!
Bro you are way to good at making videos to have only 165 subs. Keep it up.
@TheMandoPando each one is practice bro and made for real ones, strict no clout chase / clickbait or dumb trendy shit policy 🤣
Great video, how much of a difference did this make in the driving experience?
@user83200 I think it's absolutely necessary, especially with the age our cars are coming up on. Dialing in the alignment literally transforms the cars handling exponentially. These rear axle beams usually are out of spec w/toe and camber. These bushings are almost future proof, aside from the actual beam getting tweaked. These combined with a stiff rear sway bar adds to how stable and predictable the car handles . 10/10 recommend
So can I lower the car on some wood with the wheel on and then torque it to spec?
@ItsFonzy I think you could, but make sure your wood is stable, you could also lower the car, mark a line across the bushing and housing, then get the car back up on jackstands and jack the wheel up until the marks line up. Be safe and thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Thank you😊
Glad to help some 🤘🏼🤘🏼 thanks for watching
“Oh hell no!” 😂😂😂 that’s sucks bro, but you got a subscriber 😁👍🏽🤙🏽
@Samoan_Diecast lmao it's all good 😂 I got a refund, it's on BCs now and alignment is dialed in. Car feels great and looks good now. But hell yea 🤘🏼 much appreciated bro 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sweet find. Wish we had good yards to search down were in the South. The new seat really give the car a premium look.
@bamabonkers I've seen a set of Grey ones once before a few years back, couldn't pass these up, took 2 trips with the wheelbarrow to the car 😂. It definitely makes the car look more cared for. Check car-part.com , sometimes they have some treasure and most dismantlers ship
is that bushing remover tool universal type which can be used on any vehicle?
@jtboy888 it's sold as "for toyotas" but working with it, I don't see how it could not work with pretty much any bushing you can get the "C" clamp on. As long as there's room to fit that part, it should work
That looks sweet!! I'm definitely gonna have to consider this for my car!
@PlayinWithMahWii I know there's few brands out there, this one is Classic Soft Touch, based out of Oregon but they have 3rd party installers 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Where did you get your paint done?
Bro, this is what 1350 got me at Maaco 😂 I didn't have dents to work out, heard a lot of good things about my local Maaco and so far it's been almost 3 years. I'm happy with it, there are some imperfections but for the price I don't have many complaints. The car is garaged tho so I believe that's helping quite a bit
That’s tight bro!
🙏🏼🙏🏼 our options are too limited 😅
dang, thats such a bummer.. sweet video though! hope you ended up going with some BCs, i threw BCs on my elantra GT and man, they made a huge difference. not even at the lowest they can go, and the tires rub all up on the fenders lmao
@slow.elantra427 yeah bro I went with the BCs I got it dialed in now, was a mission correcting alignment specs and getting the suspension geometry to work together. But now car looks good and handles really well. Appreciate you watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
How is it holding up? Planning to do the same on my 2011 Corolla. Got the shims ready but I'm just debating if I wanna do it myself or pay someone $250 to do both sides.
@gavsinnovation8747 definitely DIY or die 😁 the actual work isn't hard, it's just making sure your calculations are correct, don't break the shim and have your axle beam bushings in order so your alignment specs don't shift
Some of the stuff is on consignment, so maybe out of their control someone selling high. But it is a treasure hunt. You gotta look at least once to see if they have anything in the area are looking for.
@scratch90 definitely a treasure hunt. I'm sure you could come up on something for a deal. They probably also have profit margins they need to meet
@@Ma70rk Yeah. I figure as much, but if its what you need or rare like you said, maybe worth getting. All the wheels are tempting there, but reality sits in that I have a set and should work with what I got until I need a new look.
Appreciate you watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
upgarage is weak AF . over priced bs
"That's more than retail"! 🤣 appreciate you watching 🤘🏼
Hella taxed!!!!!
A lot of the stuff was, some over retail 😂
BOTH.... Place is hella sick but these guys LOVE THEIR STUFF, more then they WANNA SELL their inventory...
They do! I figured maybe they'd want to get the stuff off and out the door as soon as possible, there wasn't any negotiating either. They didn't wanna sell me the white upgarage towel 🤣 I literally saw it back there behind the counter
Yeah, it's more like a TOURIST attraction.
