Here I will document my various car journeys through working videos and the occasional meet that I will attend. Most of my cars are currently import, but I have too many vehicle interests to only do a small subset of cars and I help people, so sometimes that will be shown.
My goal is to treat this a little like a forum, where I would post statuses of my projects and try to show the work. Guess you could call it forum blogging?

Corolla 1UZ - Ford rear conversion Part 1
Well, finally decided to start adding the needed brackets to my shortened Ford 8.8 rear end. I will guess there are alot of things that could have been done differently, but hoping nothing major.

Well, we have to start somewhere and the control arms seemed like a smart spot to address. I imagine there is going to be quite a few things to address that aren't even related to the cars fender bender.

I thought I was the only one that saw the video where they speak of shortening the pins but video omits that. Did you happen to capture the correct length to be removed? I’d like to know as I am in the process of doing so but don’t want to remove too much. Thank you!! 😊
Sadly I didn't get exact measurements and they changed their site so they don't have the added notes to the description that use to say it. I ended up just grinding down a little on both, test and repeat. Someone commented on another video of mine saying "Next I had to take 3/16 off both plungers." ua-cam.com/video/nF3RLOzFrPA/v-deo.html
@@UtahSleeper thank you for the information I will take a look at this. I will talk a bit off at a time to make it work.
holy fuck,I've changed many of these, its a 1 hour job at most, undo the tensioner, never cut the belt crank the rear cam 1 topoth past lining up install the belt install the tensioner and release the pin
Do you get any issues from this does the engine perform worse in terms of performance or mileage
@@kevinbrainard for the condition this engine was in, it ran fine. The computer was able to get a reading from the knock sensor, so it ran the engine normal. The car had its proper power cause the computer wasn't putting it in limp mode anymore. The big issue is that if there is ping or knock, now the computer doesn't know.
I liked these videos! The fork rebuild was instructive. You didn't really go into much detail, but showed how a guy might tackle the job and what to expect. I hate to say it but I think your problem was you didn't drain the carburetor fuel bowls. There's a little drain spout and drain screw, you put a 1/4" hose on the spout and drain both carburetors of old gas into a jar or something. Then when you put the tank back on, all you need to do is turn the petcock to PRIME for a minute or two and the carburetor bowls will re-fill. Then when you fire it up, it probably would have run just fine.
Did you turn the petcock to PRIME after the tank was put back on? You need to do that, for a minute or so, to fill up the fuel bowls after servicing, and then it'll have gas in the carbs to fire up. Don't leave it on PRIME for too long, make sure to switch to ON. Any slight leak in either carburetor needle valve and your gas tank will slowly drain into the engine. When switched to ON the petcock stops flowing when there's no vacuum from a running engine. I just got a 454 that had been parked since 2010 and it runs excellent, the reason is because I drained all the old gas from the tank and the fuel bowls before refilling with fresh gas. Runs just fine! I drove it 1000 km back and forth to Montana, it broke the old tachometer cable, cost me $13 for a new one.
@@Grunchy005 I probably didn't. Still a lot to learn. Thanks for the info.
@@UtahSleeper Yeah and the reason I know this to be a fact: my ‘82 Honda Nighthawk had 3 position petcock: ON, OFF, RES. But all my bikes since then don’t have OFF position anymore, that position is instead marked PRI. Well, ON is actually OFF now because it won’t flow without engine vacuum. PRI is actually ON: flow unconditionally until the carb needle valves all shut. Dammit, parked my Suzuki last winter in position PRI (hoping for OFF) but PRI is on, and I had slight seepage in carburetor #1. Now my tank is completely empty and the engine case is full of gasoline. Which is a massive nuisance because the gas dissolves all the oil in all the bearings. I drained the crankcase, now I have to take off the valve cover, pour oil over all the top end cams and chain, and turn the motor slowly with a socket. Dammit! Anyway never turn the petcock to PRI unless you definitely need to refill carb float bowls, because you had emptied them.
I have this radio but when I reverse the screen is blank

Great video. U can't do work on ur car without swearing, it's mechanic code. Liked and subbed
Thank you for making this video! I can finally get this part done on my project and progress forward! Thank you for all your hard work!!
Thank you for the video this is helping more than you know get my little brothers Tiburon running

After getting my Tibby this is my next car
@ 14:43 there should be a steel plate underneath that plastic cover. It goes over the small metal bracket that holds cables down
@utahsleeper I just installed cc3 2k and I have this issue, when I turn on the headlights the radio shuts off, did you have to do any rewire work while installing the head unit?
Part number and company would be great
Thanks. The thing cost a arm leg and three toes. I need the thing I guess I'm going to have to order it.
Where did you get that tensioner? I would like to get one. I'm getting ready to put a 1uz with a w 58 trans in my 1979 Toyota Corolla te 31
Tensioner was found here: 1uztech.com/collections/flanges-fabrication-parts/products/1uz-alternator-belt-tensioner-fubar-racing
Thank you! How do you connect the negatives?
On the harness, all the grounds for the shielding is alread managed in the harness that connects to the main harness. All I had done then was to extend and make the harness go from 2 sensors to 1.
Does not work with 2019 Subaru outback with hk.
20:00 that's the wrong way! Do it easy put in on all gears but save to move it over automatic tensior to last.
man making that Caddie look good!!!! Awesome Video!
I love carbon fiber 🤘
I was a little hesitant at first on the part, but seeing it on the car made me happy lol.
Any links on the harness you used?
I can't remember the brand specifically, but I bought it from rock auto. May be this one, or similar. www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4932957&cc=1364622&pt=13326&jsn=959&_nck=ZExt1ysfqhqWnq%2BEvUNdS3Txyey60IDtnjPWF5UU9J0BWQv7pvqZbh%2BYrdIIoJ2QMq9prrkIerbFMqky5nGcn4teOg9r2Sw3%2BPr1CNOXFqQFzxO1xi2naIVVDqptp38yXkE5m0eM5QCA%2By15xTcreiyKbrkDUxw8N3J1fJz5zOufanpc72OtvjcAoGyidBOB3quA3Ur7DwRxdOr7DP22yJzkHzetbGELJMxz3Z0xQ8ImaTBEdL7hn6sAuyR0f45TjYC2JQYHkEhzayyjZ1SoEo6whXgR7ZdnJloqAsGZJO4X4lnNCikTV32H38GBdFo6
I’m trying to find a plug for a 2021 Nissan Altima android. They sent a 19 plug for mine and it won’t work. Can you send me a picture of the 2020 plug you didn’t use?
I got a pretty good deal on an 85 454 ltd. But it’s turning over but not starting. Sorta sounds like yours but a little more scratchy. Any idea?
My first thing would be to start with verify you are getting fuel and spark. Most of my issues were caused by the carbs needing a rebuild and actual fuel getting to them. If the bike can start/idle on starter fluid then I would look at the carbs.
@@UtahSleeper I found my issue I feel like an idiot. The right side ignition coil wasn’t plugged in with the 2 terminals under the tank so right cylinder wasn’t being used due to no spark. Man is this bike fast.
thank you kind sir, this was educational, i like how you did the video
Heck yeah! Looking good buddy!!!
Where did you buy the 2019 wiring harness? Thanks
It came with the headunit. The radio was designed to work with all the Altima's from 2019 to to atleast 2023.
What fuse did you end up popping and which fuse box was it from? I’m about to install a T’eyes headunit. Same setup just the interface was made by an Australian dude instead of a Chinese dude
Oh okay now I seen who Lawrence was in this video. That Peterbilt Beto was driving was that the same one that u painted white??
This is a great tutorial! Because. 1.) All the posters go on and on on about faulty Lexus Knock Sensor codes then replace the and hope it works. 2.) Some use one of the knock sensors that works and piggy pack at the ECU plug. What if the other sensor fails? This is the ONLY video where you actually showed in plain detail of how you wired the harness and specifically where and how you added the new mounting location for new knock sensor. Kudo's to you for doing this! You also explained the condition that is causing the code, (coolant getting into combustion chamber.), and the fact that this hack may not properly report any future legitimate codes from engine knock. Job well done!
That’s how I felt as well…The “Cutting a Factory harness” is just lame…
Where did you find that coolant tank? I've looked everywhere and it's been discontinued and sold out.
I got lucky and found it on ebay. Half the parts I needed seemed to just be used as they couldn't be found new.

Sarah is great, I have the same strain of clean freak dna that she has. I have to clean everything before I fix anything.
Great video but DUDE! Take the key out of the fricking ignition.
Thanks from a local follower. That's really useful info. I will try this on my 2002 Outback.
Labor time? And for an amateur do you think I could do it myself also?
I am an amateur as well, so I feel anyone can do it if you are willing to take it slow and be willing to look for anything to give you the most confidence. I stopped many times trying to look up information when I wasn't sure on something. Only reason I learn to do most of this stuff is cause I am cheap lol. I think it took me about 10 hours labor time cause I kept second guessing what I thought I was doing and wanted to make sure I had it right. This was the 3rd timing belt I had ever done and the other 2 were simpler cause they were 4 cylinders.
@@UtahSleeper thank you

8 month check in - how's it working out? Thinking of picking one up.
It has it's ups and downs. Android Auto, good. Shuffle on thumbdrive music, good. Sound, good. Unable to program steering wheel controls, bad. Skip and back buttons on steering wheel reversed, bad. Random Android Auto crashes(not often, but happens), bad. And not sure why, but the dash time is always the oppisite of what the actual AM/PM is. Haven't figured that one out. Overall, it's better then the stock unit, but I expected more from it.
Anymore vids coming on this build? Love it
Hoping to finish some stuff this weekend for the next video. Summer gets too busy sometimes lol.
I just installed this and my back camera wont detect at all. I really need help figuring that out. If you can help me? Thanks
I had mine plugged in the wrong video port the first time. If the screen goes black when you put it in reverse, it should mean the camera is plugged into the wrong input
@@UtahSleeper it won't even show my camera at all. :(
Does the screen go black when you put it in reverse?
@UtahSleeper nope it does nothing. Which harness did you use? There was one with multiple colored for audio video and a sim card tray and a aux port i tried those then there is one with just 1 yellow and that is what I'm using now but nothing.
@@Fizggig I am guessing maybe the wrong harness is on, cause even if the camera isn't detected/connected, when you put it in reverse the stereo should still switch to trying to use the camera. If it's not switching then you won't be able to see if it's working. The only harness I had issue with was the main harness. My camera is connected on the harness that also has the redo and white aux cables it seems from my old photo's.
Can i still drive without one of the sensors working
Technically I believe the car still lets you drive, it just puts the motor in a limp mode, so it will normally drive slower and burn more gas cause it is trying to be safe. Thats my understanding anyway.
nice, can't wait to get started on my son's 454
What’s up twin! 😂
what the car no shifting into overdrive? thanks
