Couple more food tips, get a decent farm for beef wellington (with tofu or cows whichever) as early as you can, its really inexpensive but gives a full bar of hunger and saturation, for a steady food source you can eat mostly that and berries in between to reset the counter and it'll work well enough if you don't care about raising max health at the moment. Also, when he says eat everything, that means eat EVERYTHING once, including rotten flesh and raw meat, they count for the extra hearts too
@@luthrin haha yup! EVERYTHING
my tip is that you have to turn on the /home command and chunk claiming/loading in the ServerUtils config lol
lol indeed
Hello sire, thanks for the video, can I know what shader you where using in this video ?
hello! I am using complimentary neon by sampsa - you can find them in his discord, linked from his twitch channel. I also have a video on my channel where you can find the link to his twitch
@@Garronimo Thanks you for your reply :)
First! On a Saturday morning!
heyooooooooo!
I would recomend increasing the amount of nei history to 4 rows. It rare you find a item low down, but that extra history saves a lot of time
great suggestion! i am going to do this myself
very good video for begineer. keep going
Thank you! I will!
Thank you man. I am also total beginner to GTNH and your tips, especially NEI and chunk claiming ones are so helpful! If i can add one thing from myself is that veggie sandwiches and their variations(bund, baguettes) are very cool for early game since all you need are onions tomatoes cucumbers and wheat to counter diminishing returns
great add! and glad it helped!
I think this is the sign I needed to finally play gtnh
100% - simply the best!
To the asteroids we go
We getting naquahdah with this one
to infinity...and beyond!
i moved 3 times already and i not even reached mv yet, can definetly not recomend, also deleting garbage is the most important thing in the early game, there is nothing more depressing than having chests upon chests of useless items you can only start processing in 7 days and by then you will have 1000x the supply for those
we definetly need a lootfilter
LOL trash can is king
You should make a guide all the way up to the stargate. 😂
hah - we'll see how much I can do!
Do you use shaders and/or a texturepack?
I use sampsa's complimentary neon shaders, no texture packs. You can find them in his discord, linked from his twitch, linked from my video on shaders!
Excellent video. I have recently started modded Minecraft back up, with GTNH as one of the modpacks I have been wanting to start playing again.
With the 2.7 update its the perfect time to revisit GTNH - so many cool new additions! like 40 new multiblocks or something insane. What a pack.
Was there a world seed posted and I'm blind?
nope I didn't post it but it's -3269824699782151906 , there are also world downloads available in the discord if you want to poke around!
dont forget this world was created in v2.5.3 of GTNH - so if you use this seed in 2.7.x it might not generate the same world
I didn't think of that. I started messing around with GTNH at 2.6 something. I do have the latest build of GTNH. I'll give it a look-see and see if better than my own.
@@Garronimo Thank you.
@ np!
Make a tool belt as soon as you can. It gives you an extra hotbar that you can switch to with a keybind.
YES i missed out on a few convenience items for too long
@Garronimo i got all the way to ev before thinking to make one. I have a bad habit of ignoring QoL items/mods if I don't immediately recognize the usefulness.
One of the best places to setup a beginning overworld base is a walled village. Villages have a chance to spawn with wall around it and a full tinkers smelter minus the controller. It will save you from the first digging marathon.
village life for the win! useful for so much too
I can confirm that it is hard to obtain the healing axe if you accidentally put the world on default when setting up a server. It is painful, but it is possible to obtain the flowers for the rainbow curry by using a bee apiary to spawn random flowers.
this is how i got lavender before finally finding the tiny lavender field biome that was hiding in a very small unexplored area between two thousands of blocks long exploration lines less than 1000 blocks from my base after finally making the biome compass lol
Thanks for your work, the guide is really nice 🙂👍 Looking forward to chapter 2 :3
So glad it helped! #2 next week!!!
@@Garronimo Wow, amazing! 😍 I can't wait to see it 😀
That was an excellent starting guide. Thanks. Small coal blocks drop coal which can make torches before getting coke ovens. Sometimes found at the mouth of caves or sides of mountains near a coal vein. Doors and pressure plates are very annoying to build but you can ahem borrow them from villagers. Rice comes only from the water gardens which are rare and only found in water (forgot which biomes). Repeating the very high value of steel ingots, steel armor and steel molds (which can be melted down later). Avoid red cultists. There are many other fun surprises to discover in the wilds, a few of which are nice. You will want a dozen stacks of sand in the very early game, and as much clay. Make note of where you can get them before settling down. Use journeymap bookmarks (and keybinding) to note biomes, ores, and features/treasures to visit later. And bookmark your base.
great tips! legend!
What shaders do you use?
sampsa's compliementary neon - there's a video on my channel that explains installing it (in 2.6 - in 2.7 just don't unzip) and has the download locations, etc - you can find them in sampa's discord linked from his twitch - the settings have changed a little bit in 2.7 so i might do another video
@@Garronimo Thanks. Video with an explanation how to do the settings for 2.7 would be nice.
Now I can finally start playing this pack
just.... DO IT (shia labeouf meme)
Thank you so much. Will be very useful when i decide to give GTNH a shot
I'm glad! It's definitely a commitment, but it's so so good - it took me from ready to give up on gaming to starting this channel because i love it so much
my tip is there is no shame in playing this game on peaceful :) though you will want to toggle it on and off most likely
100% facts - there is no shame in making any change you want to make. Teleport using waypoints, or turn off mob griefing, or turn off pollution, or do all of the above. whatever it takes, especially on a first run. do challenge runs later if you want some extra delight!
Wait the tutorial guy and the epic laser base guy from reddit is the same guy?? incredible
hahaa yup thats me! i might be obsessed with GTNH...
This is amazing! I just recently startd LV and this woul've been amazing to have watched
LV coming soon!!!! glad its helpful and hope the follow up episodes are just as useful!
Wow this was such a fun watch.. i might have to try gtnh now! 😬
i think you must... it is written
Saw the link on r/GTNH. Came, saw, liked, and subbed. Can't wait for part 2!
glad to have you! check out the actual playthrough while you wait! :P
Great video! I will definitely have to give GTNH a proper go!
YEEEEEEES - exactly what i hoped!!!
Finding a stronghold randomly like this is so rare i couldn't even begin to describe it. I've been playing minecraft for 10 years, and I think it happened once, in a creative world of all things. And i've hardly seen anyone else find strongholds randomly
that is EXACTLY how i felt and that is the very feeling that inspired what becomes of this world from here - trying to make something as unique as stumbling into the stronghold literally under my starter
Listing to this, while making my EV Mega void base
LOL well you can fact check me!
Buy the rocky hives. They are the same price as the others but are always pristine Oh and dont wait so long to start thaumcraft. The qol is really good but gets trivial later game
nano boots of the traveler my darlings!
Thirsty Tank is super nice since you can get it as soon as you step into twilight forest and start thaumcraft. The crops are great too. Other stuff that requires infusion is gated behind MV laser engraver, unless you get lucky opening novice lootbags for the 8 arcane bricks drop. The eye of ender needed can be traded for from a priest, so you can get it at any point once you have emeralds and find a villager with a priest (pink robe), although some of the trades may require diamond gear depending on how lucky you get.
@@qaptain3739 dang next time i am going to go for the thirsty tank asap for drinking hives dry of all their honey!
Wish I had this when i started playing man it woulda helped so much
You made it work! haha maybe I will catch up to your progression with the guide in time to be useful :P
I am playing gregtech new horizons too and my questbook seem different than yours, like the quest "bio for the masses" , do i have the wrong version ? am i missing something ?
do you know which version you are playing? this video is based on version 2.7 of the modpack, if your questbook looks different you might still be on 2.6 or 2.5
Greg

Watching this despite never going to play it. i'll play some modern GT pack instead. modern AE2 addons are just too good ot pass up
Looking foward to trying out some modern sometime soon myself! Though it must be said - theres a ton of crazy stuff going on with AE in GTNH too! Might cover some in the future!
Time to make everything you said incorrect jk :P - pack dev
lol well then i reckon more guides to make! "YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS GTNH 3.6 UPDATE!" future title 100%
There's either GTNH Beginners, or those that have reached Stargate. There's no in between. That said, I'm beginner too, great video! :)
FACTS
yeah, think of Greg tech like Meth, there arent really "casual meth users" either they dont use it, or are competitive nose candy snorters
This will have a great impact for new players of GTNH. Amazing style to this one. Excited to see more!
Big E! Legend! Thank you kind sir (i might have taken some sound cues from your latest work)
You think GTNH is the best because you didn't tried Gravitas²? hehe.
haha I'll add it to the list and let you know!
@@Garronimo If you do, I suggest experimenting the earlygame without fancy map mods. disable the minimap and don't use worldmap. use only vanilla maps and banners to mark places and nifty ships navigation tools until you enable higher tech, for immersion purposes. glhf
gtnh is everywhere I can’t escape it any longer
Don't! I can't name another game I can play 1175 hours of, become what feels like all powerful multiple different times, and yet still be just at the tip of the iceberg. Truly a masterpiece of modded gaming built on arguably the greatest platform for gameplay customization of all time, Minecraft.
Amazing tips! Would love if some of the future episodes include aspects related to base building: early bases, size, layout, chest organization, early tools for leveling terrain, wood adquisition... that sort of things. Not long ago I tried to get into the pack but I absolutely suck at making bases and organizing chest, and made an awful underground base that made me quit at the late stone age/early steam age because every room expansion took ages. Also spent a lot of time flattening the terrain around my house just with Tinkers' iron tools, which weren't so slow but still took a bunch of time. Maybe there are better options at early game for doing these tasks? And if I got overwhelmed just with early base progression, I don't even want to know how I would solve the situation about all the machinery, energy generation, pipes, etc., you need some stages later xD. Thanks a lot for this guide and waiting for the next chapters!!
I do touch on this a bit as part of this guide - BUT I'm planning a whole world/base building miniseries and you just inspired a video specifically on modded bases!
@@Garronimo Nice to hear that!! I know I would absolutely enjoy this modpack to the fullest because I love all the grind and microcrafting needed to progress, but the building and organizing aspect just keep getting in the way for me so I'm so glad you'll be doing some sort of series around that, can't wait!
Nice vid :)
tysm!
Excellent video. Love the pace, the montage and your energy. 🤜🤛
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed. Had a blast making them, and still more to do!
🔥🔥🔥
Legend!
Goated
The snowball really starts rolling in episode 2! Had so much fun with animating I might just make a whole animated series :P joking but only kinda....
@Garronimo I love this! Please keep UP the good work. Im playing GTNH seriously for the First time, going tô craft my First BBF today and I love the Guide. Hopefully I can progress and commit through the year since I can only play só much due to work and studies XD
@ just get it in when you can, no rush! I've been playing my world for a whole year :D plus, that leaves time for me to make more guides before you get too far! :P
@@Garronimo yeahhh, I wanna grind my commitment longterm lmao. Currently being playing atm10 with friends and having a Lot of Fun. But the Greg calls me.
Oh boy can't wait for the building tips episode
There will be a whole miniseries on this!
As always awesome!!!
☺
Tip i just learned today: make sure your LV basic steam turbine has STEAM going in, not WATER - god knows how it happened but took me like 10 minutes to notice 😂
LOL i have so many of these little quirky problems - the joys of large scale automation! :P
something that i think is worth going after in this stage of the game is the animal trap. aside from giving you every type of meat (including exclusive ones like turkey) they give out a TON of leather and feathers, so if you want to simply skip having to deal with animals if you spawned far aways from cows or chickens (like what happened to me) i recommend using them Another thing that i think is worth talking about with NEI (as well as a question i have) is the prefixes! Using @ $ % | and # for filtering stuff, if i remember correctly the default dosen't require the prefixes but it makes searching for stuff wayyy easier using them like that. and the question i have is while using the search for mod @ prefix, some mods have spaces on them like Ender io. If i search up @Ender the mod shows up but if i put a space there NEI treats it like i'm searching for an item at that point. is there a special character that i can use to substitute a space? this would be useful for basically everything not just for searching mod names
My best early game tip is make sure to use the coin shop as much as possible, there are all sorts of goodies in there that are useful from stone age all the way up to EV!
COIN SHOP OP - i bought sooooooooooo many circuit parts :P
Great tip! Notably leather, wool (can also macerate into string), clay, sticky resin (I skip tree taps entirely and only use resin from the coin quest or slime from slime tree extraction until I get fish catchers set up for infinite free slimeballs), glass dust, pistons (for drawer upgrades, later you can just use pistons), chad, rubber, crop sticks, vishrooms (to turn into primal shrooms), then wire/cables/diodes/circuit stuff, and of course ae2 glass cables and processors later.
AE2 shop is really good
@@mcpkdot 100% glass cables ftw
