Why I love XBOX (Don't tell my Switch)
Great stream 🔥
Thank you Stream Ghost 👻 💜
It reminds me a bit of *Cozy Grove,* but with a similar aesthetic to *The Wild at Heart* (2 cozy indies I absolutely ADORE!). Love!
I love Cozy Grove! I think that's why I fell in love with The Garden Path. I haven't played The Wild at Heart yet but I keep getting the recommendation and I see the similarities! :)
Cozy Grove may be my most played game of the year, despite the simplicity of it. I get burnout from games so easily, but the daily format, DLC, and festivals keep me coming back almost daily!
It's such a nice and laid-back game! I also found The Garden Path REALLY GOOD for my gaming burnout. Just having it on in the background was enough. X
I love the way you present these games! Immediate subscribe ❤
Thank you so much! I worked really hard on this video. 💜 It was a lot of fun jumping back into them. Welcome to the crew! 😁
@@maireadthepirate happy to be on board 🫡 If you're looking for spooky/fall game recs, I've been loving Cult of the Lamb, Spirittea, Wytchwood, and the We Harvest Shadows Demo!
@@paradisiak oh my god I knew I forgot mention something in my video...even in the special mentions. 🤦♀️ I LOVE Cult of the Lamb! I've heard of most of the other games you mentioned but not played them though! *Adds to backlog*
Thank you all for the lovely support as always! I had lots of fun jumping back into these games and I'm excited to play more...and be less of a wimp. I'd love to hear your suggestions about what other games I should cover in the future! ~ Mai 💜
Wonderful and varied selection! Can’t wait to play all of them unless there’s spiders. 😂
@@TheSpicyOrange I'll say now that Limbo has a spider that shows up a lot in the game. I'm not scared of spiders but this one was so nerve wracking!
Oh! You should check out Love, Ghostie. It’s not scary at all, and the spookiness is adorable. You’re a ghost who matchmakes cute tenants in a building you haunt 😂
Omg I'm here for it! That reminds me of this Instagram comic if the ghost who loves interior design and the tenant thinks theyre haunted. 😍
Now I get why you've been watching buffy again lately! haha always a classic, I've been wanting to play the game so this is exactly the push I needed
Funny enough I started rewatching and then felt the need to play the game! I'm now half way through Season 3. I remember playing it when I was a teen and LOVED IT. <3 Chaos Bleeds is always a really good shout. ;)

A bheil Gàidhlig agad?
@@Crisdean-nl9yc Tha beagan Gaidhlig agam! I'm not fluent sadly. I used to know it when I was younger, did more at school but lost it. Currently relearning it whilst trying not to get too bored whilst trying to get past the stuff I already know on Duolingo. Sometimes my Papa and I would have wee conversations but in easy Gaidhlig for my sake. 💜
I have a video on my channel (not this one) where I'd commented that to meet the optional objective for a level, needed to be a tad aggressive in your planning (not cut-throat, just basically didn't have time to waste bc you had x days and almost any delay would miss that objective). And had someone commented that I knew nothing about cozy games (and imo was kinda rude about it)
@@Ambers128 In all honesty with every video I make I'm constantly fighting that voice which tells me that I don't know what I'm talking about and that I shouldn't bother. Then there's the fear of sexism in the gaming community which I have to overcome whenever I make a video. I'm better at handling it than before but it's getting easier. Ignore the haters or kill them with kindness I say! At the end of the day, (with games in general) we all have our own expectations and experiences with them which makes this hobby so unique at times. You can do it! 💜
@@maireadthepirate oh I know that feeling. Sometimes I see how many views my videos get and I just have gru's voice in my head from dispicable me wondering what value people even see in the videos. Having fun though and getting to share games I've enjoyed with others.

I'm glad my video helped! ☺️
what song is that playing in the background at the beginning?
@@sarah-v6r8i it's the Jubilife Village Theme from Pokémon Legends Arceus 🥰
one thing I don't like is how everyone focuses on games with cute cartoony graphics. Snowrunner is what I would consider a super cozy game. its got super pretty nature from all seasons and you're driving really slow so you can appreciate it. theres no penalty for failing, you can just bring another truck to pull yourself out or reset at the base with no repercussions. Its slow paced and chill. I just think people hear trucks and think its some dudebro game. my girlfriend loves watching me play it during fall/winter when she wants something calm on the TV and it helps her fall asleep just looking at the fall foliage or winter landscapes.
I totally agree! I mean, many simulator games I feel are cozy games to me. I know many people love the Truck Simulator games and find them cozy. 💜 There's an upcoming game I'm really looking forward to trying, it's more on the realistic side of graphics but you get to play as an animal which is pretty cool! Its called Hawthorn!
Night in the Woods is one that I would add to this list.
You're not the first and probably not the last to mention Night in the Woods! It's such a good game and one I'd love to cover again on the channel (did so in my Indie Games video a while back) but it doesn't hurt to return to it again. 🥰😻
I feel like a really good cozy game that doesn't revolve around the typical topics of cozy games is Harold Halibut! It's my favorite game in general - super well made and really underrated.
Interesting! Can't say I've heard of it let alone played. I'll have a looksy!
@@maireadthepirate EEEEK YAY im excited :D not many people have played it, I feel like its really good and definitely worth looking into!
Some of these look good. I’m really looking forward to tiny bookshop. Didn’t think I’d like it, then I played the demo… so relaxing.
I remember seeing that recently! The art style is so charming. 🥰 I'll check out the demo. I still have so many games to catch up on!
@@maireadthepirate same!! I just started playing all my demos & trying to weed through games I won’t like. Makes my buying easier.. lol!!
I've always been a huge fan of demos. I don't earn much money so unless I'm sent a free code to review the game (which isn't often) I really have to save up for ages and also research like crazy if I want the game even after launch. Thank god for UA-camrs! 🤣
Fallout 4 and Skyrim are some of my 'cozy' games too, I get it. Great video.
A like minded person! And thank you for watching 😊
Great video - my favourite cosy games that you wouldn't normally associate with that term are: Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Ni No Kuni, Professor Layton and the Ace Attorney Games!
@@rachyrachington I've not had a chance to play the Ace Attorney games and only casually had a go at Professor Layton but I love Ni No Kuni, BotW and Totk!
Fall of Porcupine but no mention of Night in the Woods? The classic it's very heavily inspired by?
I've already covered Night In the Woods in a previous video plus Fall of Porcupine was a game I was kindly gifted a code for. ☺️ Night in the Woods is a banger though!
I still haven't emotionally recovered from spiritfarer ㅠ︿ㅠ
It's why I always have to play it in bursts. I'll binge play it was a couple of weeks and then have to stop because I become an Emoshi Yoshi 😭
I think graveyard keeper should be on this list too! Very creepy but cozy
@@Strawberryleighhh Graveyard Keeper is one of my favourite games! I didn't include it because I was worried I talk about it too much 🥺 Maybe I should make a video about games for Spooky Season now? 😻
@@maireadthepirate I would love to watch a video of spooky games! 🥰
I better start making my list then. 😉
I still need to play Spiritfarer. Beef did it on stream and I enjoyed watching her play it
It's a lovely game. I had to take a huge break after the first spirit because it hit too close to home 😔
@@maireadthepirate I own it and I'm afraid to start it because I know I'm gonna sob 90% of the time.
Aaw but when you do play it you'll absolutely LOVE it. It took me a while to get back to it (about 8 months) due to personal grief I had last year but it's such a heart warming game.
I had Reka on my wishlist but am now considering it properly~ I'm looking forward to it!
@@scarletsongstress450 it's really got that chilly, spooky but cozy kinda vibes. There are these little creatures which remind me of the Hattifatteners from Moomins 🥺
truly the game of Grunn suits the collective mass of the cozy shape of the sacred season
I've never heard of Grunn but I just looked it up and from the images alone it looks right up my alley! Thank you for the suggestion 😊
"Be patient with it" perfect pun for a doctor game
@@PatToonz THIS is why you're the funny one. I didn't even realise that when I wrote the script. 🤣🤣🤣
Hang on, a game where you run a fantasy tavern serving weary patrons and adventurers from across the lands? Are you the main character of this game? xD It's a lovely premise though and I'd genuinely be curious to give this a go ^_^
That's right! It's voice acted too. 😊 And yeah you're the main character. X
@@maireadthepiratelush! It genuinely sounds like that pitch we talked about once in your streams, about having a D&D character where you're the head of a pub that welcomes weary travellers from fantasy lands ^_^
@HeyItsAJOmega I thought of the exact thing when I was playing the game and writing the script! Whenever I get back to streaming again, maybe this can be a comeback game as the landlady. 🥰
Oh I really wish it wasn't first person. 😢 Looks like so much fun but first person games make me queasy. 😢
@@cjmoonwrites oh no! I'll admit after I realised it was first person I felt silly taking time to make my character... Only really worth it in multiplayer. Here's hoping they add third person in a future update!
This game was a LOT of fun to play but I hope I can play online with friends soon. 😊 Once I get more of my videos out I'll definitely go back to this. ❤ Thanks again for all the support you've all given me. I've really been enjoying making videos again and can't wait for you all to watch the next one! Have a good one! ~ Mai 💜
Thanks again everyone for the immense support! It means the world to me and I'm still in shock how much the channel has grown over the last couple of months. Here's to the future! As always, I'm open to game suggestions and video ideas so please feel free to let me know! I'm a busy lady so I try to get videos filmed, edited and posted during my weekends so here's hoping in there future I'll have more time. ~Mai 💜💜
They repeat things that were bad ideas in the first place. Hand-watering your "farm" (which is really a garden, get real). That soul-sucking process of buying your friends with gifts (what a TERRIBLE idea, why do we keep seeing it?). Tragically lame mini-games. Fishing that's always too hard, then too easy. Ridiculously awful combat. Low-stakes busywork.
I agree. I feel like there's not much balance and very little creativity on making cozy or farming games more interesting. And when features are adapted or new ones added they often fall really flat. :(
I'm commenting at 1:00 after watching your intro (and because I read the comments already so I have an idea of what I'm getting into) and I just want to say that I find it interesting that people still readily equate "cozy games" with farming or cutesy. Because in my gaming circle and channels I watch, we play LOADS of cozy games, most of which do not have farming and many that wouldn't even be considered all that cute...to the point where we dont even think about the common tropes when we talk about a cozy game. I feel like, sometimes (maybe lots of times) the problem is not just the marketing of a game as cozy but also the people who see a "cozy game" mainly only considering the games that follow the cutesy farming trope when THEY think about "cozy games." Cozy, to my knowledge, is not even actually a game genre...most "cozy" games fall under another category such as farming, puzzle, adventure, casual, etc. Cozy is just about the feeling. On the flip side, I have played games people call "rage games," games that just piss you off...but there is no "rage game" as a category, its a feeling. And different games under different categories can bring about that feeling. But now I'm about to watch the video, I know you are gonna talk about cozy games without farming and other "non cozy" games that people find cozy...but i just wanted to get that thought out before it left my mind (this is about the 5th or 6th video I've seen on this topic so I had some thoughts right at the start). I'll comment again after watching the full thing because I get the impression that this video will likely agree with all I just said....
Okay you totally just said all I just said 😅But I spent time writing all of that so I'll leave it. Great video!
Haha no problem! I read your comment and I was waiting to see what you'd say after watching. 😅😊 I agree though and I'm always on the hunt for more games which don't rely on farming or fishing as a core mechanic and receptive managed to find a couple thankfully! Thanks again for watching!
I feel like games having cozy moments/elements vs games being entirely about coziness are different. That's just me tho ig
That's fair!
@@maireadthepirate also, cozy chaos should be a new game genre
I love that. I mean, it's always cozy chaos when I play!
Assassins Creed Valhalla is absolutely my favorite cozy game! The way its based around a settlement building sim and includes so much open world exploring and minigames from maxing your "poet" abilities by finding random npc encounters that will basically "spoken word off" with you to stacking rocks and hearing your characters childhood memories in the background. I love the parkour sections and cave exploring sections. Fishing for the actually local fishes of different area you travel to? Gorgeous scenery? Def one of my favorite games ever and yes I have 1000+ hours lol.
Omg I briefly covered my love for AC Valhalla in my video about games which help my brain. The AC series has always been a favourite of mine (I'll admit I've not played anything after Valhalla). For me, I love the open world aspect and fully completing the maps and finding the treasures. There is so much to do now
If you love JRPG I recommend Atelier series. Each game has unique crafting system and has good story.
I have heard SO MANY good things about the Atelier series! Also I love JRPGs but I always feel like I haven't got enough time to dedicate or give them enough love. 🥺
I loved this game a lot. Nice to see it being given some love and attention! Question...have you played Wyldeflowers? Amazing story and incredible voice acting. Another "much more than a cozy game" cozy game. 😄
I've had so much fun with it and I keep jumping back in too for a wee sesh. 🥰 I'm afraid I haven't played Wyldflowers. I've seen Eeowna talk about it a bunch on her channel but I've been on the fence and money is always tight so I only invest if I feel it's going to be good. I'll add it to my wishlist. 😊
Fallout has the exact same effect on me as you described! Especially when the old music starts playing I just feel warm inside haha Its the whole reason I even started this channel ^^ Lovely video! Subbed and Much Love From The Netherlands!
The music just brings me so much joy! I always find myself singing along (sometimes when I'm not playing) and when I streamed it back in the day it felt so wrong not having the Commonwealth radio on 😭 Welcome to the crew! 💜
@@maireadthepirate Hahaha I am really the same! ^^ When I need to clean my house or focus on something I love having it in on in the background. Im a nerd for nostalgia!
I died at "Wee - Slap for the resources~"
Gotta smack that lil slime booty for the goodies ;)
So here is the question; do you like the fishing mechanics?
Funny enough, that's something I didn't really talk about! The fishing mechanics is definitely better than other games. Much easier for sure so I think I'll give it a 7/10 :)
just to add to the conversation, I watched josh play through GTA san andreas recently and actually I do believe that is cozy. the game was modded with new lighting and new events, tightened-rias. I think I must have watched josh play-through san andreas at least 10 times now. it is cozy. its familiar.
@@lonergothonline I'm not surprised! I mean, I remember playing through Red Dead Redemption 2 and loved how cozy it felt. When I was younger I used to just run around in Vice City causing chaos but that was my idea of having a fun or relaxing time. 😅
Seems like the community has started using "cozy game" to "create" an objective genre to when they're really trying to say it's a comfort game for them, which is more of a subjective description. I've been working to switch my language to instead use "gentle" to refer to mechanics and "comforting/relaxing" to describe my feeling while playing them.
I like that. Gentle is a good use actually, especially if you're taking things slow in the game. :)
Yeah what most people describe as cozy game is something that stresses me out due to the time passage, timed quests, Limited tine in a day etc My personal cozy game is Metal Gear Solid 1 lol
What a banger! I haven't played MGS1 since I was a kid! I think the last one I played was Phantom Pain but I never completed it. The opening alone is super long!
@@maireadthepirate Yeah the Phantom pain is pretty long overall but still great, gives you a ton of tools to play around with and has some super tight controls, there are some crazy gameplay clips for it. Mgs 1 is very chilled in comparison and after you played it once you can finish it in like 3 hours. The hidden Details and tricks you can do in the whole franchise are mindblowing to this day as well.
I'll have to have another replay in the future. 🥰 Yeah I knew Phantom Pain would be a long one straight from the opening. 😅 Typical Kojima!
My go to cozy games are mountain biking games, you ride down a mountain and explore it and get new outfits. The one issue I come across is they're much more male minded so the outfit choices on the female models is limited.
Oooh interesting choice! To be honest, I don't think are many mountain biking games out there are there? It's a shame it's mostly male heavy. :/
Love your video. I have never really played these so called cozy games, or rather if I attempted it too often did feel shallow and too grindy, not really drawing me in and engaging me. I do like playing sims 4 (if I do go back to it which by now has been once a year) and definitely a big fan of hollow knight. I like Ori too. And Dorfromantik though I stopped cause somehow my laptop always goes crazy and gets hot as soon as you start it. I have been really interested to try some of those games but finding one that is engaging me enough without being too grindy really does feel impossible if you don’t want to watch 1000 let’s plays (not sure if using the lingo right, not really being a gamer invested in gaming community). Also somehow I can’t play games that are too square-y or pixel-y (sensory thing I guess). Which is why I have never tried stardew valley and can never try minecraft. I could recognize some of the games in your video and you have named some that you find good. I love the Moomins and really want to play that one. But could you maybe list all the games that you showed in the vid so I can check those out? Would also love a „my favorites“ video of sorts. If you don’t already have it, I have just now stumbled upon your channel.
Don't get me wrong, there are some cozy games which aren't that grindy. I do agree that most indie/cozy games do adopt the pixel art style which I didn't even think about how it would affect someone on a sensory level. The Moomins game (Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley) is one game I would certainly recommend. It's a little short (I completed and 100% it in about 5hrs) but the entire experience was really lovely. I spent that Sunday afternoon diving into one of my favourite franchises and a game I had been looking forward to for ages. I'll go into the description of the video and add a list of the games I mentioned as I know a few people have asked already which games were which at certain points. As for the favourites video I haven't done a specific one but I've done other videos covering games which have helped my mental health. Saying that a favourite [insert genre etc here] kind of video would be fun to make in the future so I'll add it to the list I have already! :) Thanks again and welcome!
A wonderful cozy game is Super Mario Galaxy! It’s so beautiful and the game is easy enough to where it doesn’t feel stressful but exciting enough to keep you engaged. The atmosphere is top notch✨
I love Super Mario Galaxy! The music also a huge bonus in my books. I can't go a day without humming the theme song. 😅 Time to cue those strings!
