My son Jason and I (Jason) love food. We decided to chronicle our food adventures eating in and around the Houston, Texas area. Sometimes we will have guests like my wife and Jason's mom, Ivette, my parents, friends, or other family member. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey! God bless you!
Live Oak Grill @JnJEatingAdventures
Jason, Ivette, my parents and I went to Live Oak Grill in Sugar Land for some fried shrimp, onion rings, tacos, quesadillas, a cheeseburger and fries. The food is good for the most part and there is a great Texas Hill Country atmosphere. I loved the fried shrimp and onion rings. The shrimp were plump and had great flavor. The onion rings were big and had great flavor as well. Jason was disappointed with his cheeseburger. It was cold, the cheese wasn't melted, and the patty wasn't seasoned. He also has to season his fries as well. Ivette's pulled pork tacos were on the salty side. My mom enjoyed her beef fajita tacos/tacos al carbon. My dad liked his Nashville Hot Chicken quesadillas. My parents shared a strawberry shortcake for dessert and Jason got a package of chocolate chip cookies to go. The service is very friendly. They have 2 patios when the weather is nice and a kids play area. We will have to try their breakfast one weekend.

Papa Gyros has been serving Greek-American food, a long with Chicago and Detroit specialties, in Katy for years. Mel's Country Cafe in Tomball has been around since 1977. It started out as Mary's Fried Chicken. In 1985 it became Mel's Cafe and the menu changed to hamburgers. I don't know where ""Katy" is, but the PINCHO franchise is very popular in the Miami (Florida) area. I have three locations very near my house to choose from. They are also in Broward County. Miami is in Miami-Dade County.
I enjoy Texas Roadhouse, but my local one is always packed. Got to go back some time.

That's pretty much what we thought as well.
the hype made by foreign vloggers making videos for Filipinos who can rarely afford to eat in fast food is too much. So people can have really have high expectations. In the Philippines, the Mcdonalds chicken was better. But they seem to change the recipe and so Jollibee is on the same level or better. Jollibee is great. But it can be too expensive for the average Filipino.
@@eduardochavacano We don't know anything about that. We can only comment on the restaurants that we have access to and compare them to other food we have tried.

The patties are made fresh daily with 100% fresh ground beef. They have a 25/75 fat content and are cooked on a flat-top grill.

Barb’s B Q is the new hotspot in Lockhart. The girl was a pitmaster at Franklins and Goldees, two of the best in the world.

A Katy Foodie group says their CFS is very good and recommends this place now that Clancy’s is closed!
The food is very good. It's all homemade. In our opinion, the Jay Cafe in Needville, has the best chicken fried steak.
I used to eat there in 2003 when I moved here. I would call from work and place a pickup order and get it at the window. Great burgers loved them. One day I decided to go inside and eat and when I walked through the front door the ammonia from mouse urine started stinging my eyes and I left and never went back. They closed for many years and just recently reopened. I guess that smell is gone or your son would have pointed it out along with a lack of seasoning.....😂
You are right, it used to be very dirty. It's been cleaned up, just an old building.
There are salt and pepper shakers on the table for a reason....cool it with the “it’s not seasoned”. Old people can’t have all that, season to your liking at the table!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Just a personal opinion. I went to culinary school and have worked in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. I have always been taught that the food has to come out seasoned. Everyone has their own tastes and dietary needs and they need to make that known when ordering.
Witt Pitt is as good as Lockhart BBQ, no need to drive. The only thing better at Lockhart is the sausage.... Came here after watching your Schultzes BBQ video, they are mediocre at best and surprised they stay in business but I think they have been here so long they have a local following....
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Schulze's was a disappointment. Witt Pitt is very good. We still like to drive to Smitty's in Lockhart. It's a nice drive and very historic. Not to mention great barbecue. They Just Opened one up the street from me in New Orleans. and Ive Tried it 3 Times 3 different sandwhiches. The Chicken Cheese Steak which was alright but i decided next time to try the Italian and I didnt really like it (Great Quality Just Not my cup of Tea) and My Favorite Overall So Far is The Turkey and Cheese which i got last time but ill keep trying new ones and see if i can find a new Fav!!! The steak fries look like we Aussies wold call CHIPS but they look limp & sad. They should be crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. The salad looked sad too..... nothing crispy or fresh at all....no wonder it was drowned in ranch dressing,& even that needed a reboot.Honestly,you guys found that meal acceptable ? Even a pub over here could better that without a second thought.
The food is good overall. The salad was the worst part of the meal. Yes, the fries (chips) weren't crispy, but they had a good flavor. They were also cooked through. Maybe they should be called potato planks? Thank you for your input and thanks for watching!

Back in my days volunteering at Theatre Suburbia (1980s and 90s) MytiBurger was our go-to on set construction weekends. They were average, in a good way, then and certainly fit our budget. Sounds like they are still that way now, years later. I'm going to get over there on a nostalgia run as soon as I can.
