Vanguard VEO Range 38 Camera Bag Review
Переглядів 12 тис.4 роки тому
A review of the Vanguard VEO Range 38 camera bag. The Range 38 is a Messenger style shoulder bag with capacity for an SLR, at least two additional lenses, laptop or tablet plus other accessories.
Good review. After a few weeks of use I decided to go full manual for street work. Setting aperture on the manual focus ring is a feature not many reviews mentioned. I think it is great and I never miss clicks on the ring. The opposite is true for me, I like the smooth transitions more than having to click.
Interesting. I did something very similar recently. I decided to "go retro" on an outing. I fitted the 28mm prime, selected the Monochrome picture control and shot the whole trip in Aperture Priority with the aperture control assigned to the focus ring. The focus ring of the 28mm SE lens has a very nice feel to it so the whole thing worked really well.
I sold my ZFC with all Lenses and switched to Fuji with my new XT5. Sry but the Zfc 3/10 Points and the XT5 8.5/10 Points.
Good choice. I was very interested in the Fuji X-S10. The only thing that swung it was the video autofocus. In the reviews I had seen, the Fuji had a tendency to focus hunt.
Great job on the video. Very professional. Maybe consider producing more? My used ZFc arrives today. Local dealer here in Texas listed one with kit lens in Ex. Cond. for USD $667. I have a Z6 and this zfc is to be a more stylish companion. Some complain about the “dated” 20MP sensor but I did own a z30 for a bit and was very impressed with the image quality. Those who believe the sensor is lesser should read Nikon guru Thom Hogan’s opinion on that sensor.
@@Austinite333You're very kind. I have no complaints about the sensor. In all my time shooting digital (about 16 years now I think), I have only taken one picture where I thought a bit more resolution would have improved it and that was with a 6M pixel camera. Every other failing has been down to me. I hope you enjoy your Zfc.
Great review and I learned a few things I didn’t know before although I have watched quite a number of reviews. You’re more than just a talking head there was lots of good demos and b-roll with excellent editing in your review. Keep up the good work. I’ve owned the Black version of this camera and love the look and I’m still learning it’s talents and it is a lot more capable than my Nikon FE which I used with my Nikkormat shooting weddings. Although I must admit I loved the simplicity of those cameras and I was fine with manual focus. I always knew what I wanted in focus and using the hyper focal distance scale made it easy to nail it. Something you don’t see on auto focus lenses any more. I was out the other day and couldn’t get my lens to focus and I thought either the lens or the camera was dead but I found out that it was set to MF on the i menu and I hadn’t done that ever. Technology 🙄. On my D700/300 I would have just checked the switch on the front of the camera 😂. Regards Gerry

You are the only review ive seen that highlights the divider comes aside for long lenses attached to cameras
👏🏻👏👏
Very useful. Neat presentation.
Thank you very much! This is a thorough, practical overview!
Thank you for a very thorough and insightful review of this devise. It has given me an informed overview to base my purchase decision on. Much appreciated.
Glad to be of help
Great video - one question, do you know at which db level the test tone is played back - I'm not quite sure so adjusting the input level on the camera can be a little bit of guesswork.
Afraid not. The volume of the test tone can be changed so we'd need a table of values for each of the 30 possible levels. I spent quite a while finding the best value for my camera (a Nikon D5300); one that was high enough whilst minimising noise.
Thank you for this! Do you know if it records separate audio files when you interview two people?
No. I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Depending on the mics, it MIGHT record them to separate stereo channels.
If you have the Interview Kit, it looks like the bundled Stereo Breakout Cable splits the two mics into separate left and right channels.
@@immleman Yes I thought that was the case - looking forward to trying it out! Thank you once again for your help!
Nicely presented. 👍
Thank you for uploading, and especially adding the second video. That was exactly what I needed to make my decision. I see no problem with a D7500 with a longer lens fitting face down as well as two additional lenses. Great information, thanks.
This was so informative. Thank you! 😊 I've got an older Olympus LS-10, which I have used mainly for bird recording and I'm going to start making videos as well. Inspired by you a.o., I plan to order the Olympus LS-P4, which fits well on the camera or in your pocket. I shall let the other Olympus LS collect ambience sound, while the other can be directed to a target of interest, may it be a person, an animal etc.. The audio recording levels can then be later adjusted individually.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the comment.
What is that for background noise?
Good test. I've been able to get the bluetooth feature working and I've always felt it was more of a "spec" feature- they never really took it that seriously.
Thanks. The Bluetooth functionality does feel very much like a first attempt.
Can this bag fit a Sigma 150-600 mm in the bottom compartment?
I'm not familiar with your lens so can't say whether or not it will fit but, with the dividers removed, the lower compartment is about 38.5cm long by 13cm deep by 7.5cm high. I'm guessing the height might be a problem.
@@immleman Thanks, had the same question. Should fit OK
Thanks! What’s your camera? I’m about to buy a Nikon d7500 and I was wondering if it could fit because the d7500 It’s a bigger DSLR. And do you think a 70-300mm lenses would fit?
It will depend on what lens you have fitted and what other kit you have. I have a D5300 and I lie it on its back in the bag with the collapsible 18-55mm kit lens attached. The D7500 looks to be about 1cm wider and a little taller than the D5300. You can move the velcro dividers to make room for the extra width and, as the video I've just uploaded hopefully shows, there's enough room for the extra height. I tried it with my kit lens fully extended, adding about another 3cm to the length, and this was fine but with my 70-300mm lens on, it was too tall to close the bag. The bag isn't wide enough to put the camera down with the lens running along the width and, as the D7500 is even wider, it's not going work with a long lens attached.
@@immleman I believe that there is a tripod holder built in to the bag at the bottom. Do you think that a 70-300mm lens could fit down there?
Never mind
@@woodytaylor8451 There isn't a tripod holder as such. I think that Vanguard make one that fits in the lower tier (and that would fill it). You could certainly fit a lens on its side down there. The dividers are moveable just like the top layer. Which lens do you have in mind? I've got the Nikon 70-300 DX zoom and it fits easily in the top layer - just not on the camera.
@@immleman same lense but I could fit the 70-300mm on the top tier but not on the camera? And with all of that could I fit a 50mm 1.8?
