Berlin90 were formed in a Spanish jail in 1990 after singer & guitarist Allan McCarthy was convicted of drug-trafficking receiving a six and a half year sentence and a 65 million fine.
Entering a national music competition with a live recording of "Runaway" won a recording session at Pepe Moreno´s PM Studios where under armed guard they recorded "Stormy Waters".
They were headline news appearing on Spanish tv, radio and newspapers ending with Allan´s transfer to Madrid´s notorious Carabanchel max-security prison which featured in Netflix´s series "Narcos".
30 years later Allan met Angel Sopena a Spanish DJ/Journalist who covered the band in the early days and even after becoming one of Spain´s top personalities Angel never forgot the band playing their music and retelling their story.
Angel´s article based on their radio interview appeared as a double-page feature in over 20 newspapers reaching an audience of 23 million and the whole story has taken life again.

This is Allan´s first interview on UK radio and the first time "Runaway" the song he recorded with his band Berlin90 has been played on UK radio.
It has taken over thirty years for the song to be released after it was recorded live in 1991 while Allan and his bandmates were inmates of a Spanish prison.
