Sadly, it's a spectrum of characteristics, thus it can be harder to profile. In my research on it (including interviewing victims), here are some commonalities convicted child sex offenders shared: -Often very respected in their community, often regular church goers. -Often put themselves in situations (particularly jobs and/or lots of volunteering) filled with kids. -Areas like their household and/or areas they have control over are decorated to be child-like, kids foods, etc and they have no kids of their own. I’ve read a few cases where the predator had hidden bed setups around their property. Hidden windowless rooms with a bed set up. -Love balming their intended victims, think being over the top with gifts, acting child-like; Seek to earn the trust of their parent(s), (perhaps gently persist) with offers like babysitting (if you haven't noticed yet, they work very hard at getting the barriers down). -Tend to target kids who are having trouble at home, isolated, struggling single mother. -On that point, isolation. They almost always seek to isolate their victims to commit their crimes. Quite often it was in the predator's home. -(this one surprised me) almost always seek to desensitize and/or lower their victims inhibitions. In teenager victims, alcohol is often involved (or similar intoxicating agents used for date rape). Exposing to porn or even racy social media photos. Starting the touch boundary progression, sometimes making them into child-like games.

Sadly these predators were abused themselves, so evil begets evil. They don't have the wiring, or circumstances that makes them healthy individuals. My ex was innapropriate with teenage girls. There were complaints from girls he coached and taught gym to. Also if they are in a position of power such as Catholic priests, they have a title and people respect them. Even when the evidence is in front of the parishioners and fellow priests and nuns they still support the priests and pay for good lawyers to get them off all charges. The main places that these predators are lurking are in the family home. They are fathers, stepfathers, boyfriends of the mother, Uncles and grandfathers and sometimes an older brother of two. My landlord does these to adult women. He just cannot handle we don't want it.
