Painting with Sennelier Oil Pastels

First time to create an artwork using only Sennelier oil pastels. It felt like I was working with oils due to the creamy texture. These pastels are perfect for creating impasto effects. Different Oil Pastel Brands: Color Shaper Blending Test
Переглядів 2,4 тис.2 роки тому
In this video, I tried to explore how different oil pastel brands would behave when blended with a color shaper. I am very fond of using color shapers in blending my oil pastel works as they allow me to cover more areas faster, blend and mix colors, and create different textures and effects. The video was recorded in a single take. I used the following brands: 1. Pentel 2. Dong-A 3. Sakura Cray...

Painting Mr. James Gurney's Portrait Using Casein
Переглядів 1903 роки тому
These past nine months I focused on plein air studies based on Mr. James Gurney's lessons. I was able to fill an entire sketchbook, that's more than 20 artworks. I reserved the first two pages for the title / introduction / random stickers, things that would add up to the sentimental value of the sketchbook. But then I thought it would be better if I used one for a special artwork, a culminatio...
Painting a Lagoon Using Casein
Переглядів 2113 роки тому
This mornng I was able to visit a park about 45 minutes away from our place. I attended the sketching event of Urban Sketchers Kyusi (QC). I tried to paint the lagoon using casein on my A5 sketchbook. I used the triad of cadmium red pale, cadmium yellow light, and payne's grey plus titanium white. Too bad I was not able to bring a different red for the lotus buds. I had great difficulty in crea...

Painting a Stream with a Dramatic Light Effect Using Acrylics

The biggest one so far in my Cool Waters series, I worked on this for about 25 hours, spread over two days. I used vintage Grumbacher Hyplar acrylics: cadmium-barium red medium, cadmium-barium yellow medium, ultramarine blue, and titanium white. I also applies several of James Gurney's lessons, such as transparent vs opaque layers / strokes, using a triad, the lens flare effect, a spotlight / y...

Very good, maybe some dry brush on the road to add more interest to quite a big area? Yeah, plein air is not easy with wind/light/rubber neckers, etc. haha...
Small flat brushes make windows, etc easier and more accurate to do. But, well done, good painting.
Meron akong less 10 design of pochade boxes in my channel...very lightweight compare to any internationally knowned brand!😊
Napuntahan ko na ito...photography workshop.
Beautiful!
useless
Such a well thought out kit. Your art is amazing as well
Interesting with the mungyo, I wonder if those few are just less pigmented. I use mungyo often with color shapers as weep. I typically get a good smooth gradiant
They seem highly pigmented, creamy, and of artist quality, though my set (which I gave away recently) did not come with any info on pigments used and lightfastness. I think they are a good alternative to Neopastels.
Super❤
Nice paintings !!
Thank you so much!
🎉🎉🎉💫🔥🤗🤩💓🌹💐🌺🍀💙💛
wow 😯
bruh dem senneliers, mmmm, chef kissu, creamy like butter from grandma's farm.
Lovely video and great setup items! I was wondering about using Coroplast as a light diffuser. Great to know it works. Can you connect the two clips you have end to end (the clamp holding onto the other clamp and extend the "arm" to twice the length? I saw another artist use a Wimberley Plamp II which was $50! OUCH!
I received my clips and corrugated plastic today and I just want to say Thank You for sharing this genius idea!! My eyes no longer have to be blinded by my white sketchbook. The diffuser is so lightweight and I can cut the corrugated plastic to size. I briefly tested it outside and it is perfect. I just hope the plastic clips last! Thanks so much!!
Wow, you bring your studio with you.
I got the idea from Mr. Gurney himself. He has great tips on what to bring for plein air.
@@SiningniSing I follow him but I don’t think he brings everything. So I got the idea from you to use a ‘corrugated white board’ with that double ended clip. That’s something I’ve been looking for, so thanks! Hope the materials I ordered (esp. the clip) work.
This is interesting. Is it possible to use felt paper for a soft pastel painting? If yes, could you please do a tutorial? Thank you very much in advance for your response.
Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to watch my video. Yes, it is actually possible, though in this video I used oil pastels and cheap felt paper. I suggest using felt paper of good if not archival quality like Hahnemuehle velour for serious works, especially paid projects or commissions. I have another video in which I used soft pastels on velour, the one where I made a sunset urban scene. I hope you can find it helpful. Will see if I can make a tutorial soon as well.
Oil pastel on felt sir ni Luna 🌕 hehe...
What’s casein paint please, is it watercolour or Gouache I’m still learning about paints.
Casein is a milk-based paint that used to be popular, especially before acrylics came out. It resembles gouache when wet, but seems permanent once dry. James Gurney uses them a lot and he has a number of videos on them that you may want to check out.
@@SiningniSing thankyou for that information, now I think about it I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of a long time ago, think I’ll just stick to watercolours though.
Thank you.
your hand is in the way
Sorry about that. The results can be seen afterwards though.
Baka pwede paturo sir hehe
Sure po!
Ang galing talaga🤗🤗🤗
Thank you ma'am!
As always, fantastic work!!
Thank you so much!

This is absolutely beautiful to see cone together with such loose shapes.
Thank you so much. I actually found it challenging to do.
It's absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work
Thank you so much!
Hello dear friend. Congratulations on the wonderful video you shared with us. Very interesting, thanks for sharing, please keep in touch please, 💯,❤,💯,❤💯,.
Thank you. Feel free to ask questions, if you have any.
alam niyo pa po ba kung anong size ng turnilyo ginamit sa hinges ng easel? thank you po
Nice
How fast does the tempera dry without water? How opaque are the colors on top of each other?
On hot conditions, it can dry within minutes. The colors can be opaque when used with less water.
@@SiningniSing Thanks for the response, im after quicker. At regular room temperature, is it under 5min would you say? Can white be painted over black?
@@GemExtractor I will try this weekend and get back to you. 😀
Does anyone know any good alternatives for book
Nice. Where do I get that photo holder clip? Thanks!
Magnificent, simply Magnificent!!!
Thank you!
Thank you sir! Ano pong brand preference nyo?
You are welcome and thanks to you, too. Caran d'Ache is my most used, followed by Sennelier and Winsor & Newton. But when using velour / felt / sanded surfaces, I use a lot of Holbein, Van Gogh, and Sakura (both).
Ang ganda ng blending ng caran d'ache 😍😍
Yes. It is my go-to brand.
do you mix the paint with water or a different medium to dilute?
I use only water when I paint with this.
Beautiful! How would you compare this paint with gouache or watercolor?
Thank you! It actually felt like gouache, though it seemed to dry much faster. I would not recommend it for large washes ala-watercolor though.
Ano po brand nung pad niyo?
Hi. I use Etchr Lab, from Art Nebula.
Iba-ibang angle yung na-paint ang angas!! 🤩
Great work how long it take to do one that big thanks for sharing
Thank you. About 30 hours? It only took one weekend.
