Silverado
This is the latest version of Silverado as part of HornsAPlentyChristmas Dec 20,2024. When I consider that we only had one rehearsal of it and we have horn performers from middle school to age 84 on stage , this is horntastic!!

Star Spangled horns new arrangement!!
Excellent performance after one rehearsal when we have horn players from middle school to age 84 ---- Horntastic!!
Wish we could have had one more rehearsal .... and she had the wrong version to practice .. and so did parts of the 8--10 in the accompany part ... my mistake !!
This was performed without any rehearsal ---- it proves horn players can come up to the task !!
Auld Lang Sane and Happy Birthday i heard. First one is a fanfare
Is a beginning of a very huge movie some years ago... on the fanfare.. other two are right.
@@hrntchr I give up.
Anyone recognize the three tunes in this ???
Cool Performance Dave !!!
It was an honor to perform in your last Star Spangled Banner performance, Don!
That was great!!! Thanks for the share.
A huge THANK YOU FOX VALLEY HORNS IN A Horntastic Performance!!!
This was the year that we set a Guinness record of 86 horns and myself with this version of Cherry Tree Carol...
Incrível!!!
Is this the Wilson 3400 FA-5 Eb?
Nice Job, everyone! Thanks! ❤
It was so much fun making music with you, Don, on your birthday. Playing a piece arranged just for you made it extra special. I don't want to toot my own horn, but...... Man, We Sound Great!

The French horn friends that I have is beyond friends -- Thank you for being one !! will make a special place for a awesome horn friend ...
This arrangment was done by Bernard Kirchner .Rosamunde to the max!!!
How long we play together.just wonder. You play very well.need to visit computer issue tomorrow
two rehearsals -- three horns did not make it.... Sorry .
Beautifully played!
I played this piece for my solo and ensemble when only playing the horn for 3 months. Scariest thing I’ve ever done.
I deeply appreciate the recording with drastically reduced compression than the original. This was my favorite song I had ever played on Bassoon, and Covid F*cked everything up cancelling ISSMA :( It was such a nice piece.
Horntastic performance with only one 15 minute rehearsal --thanks to talented horn performers.!!Thank you horns!!
Horntastic performance with all the horns on only one rehearsal -- Excellent back-up with only a short rehearsal before this..
sarah!
Why does this stop before the piece has finished?
The only thing I can think of ---either the battery was dead or the hard drive was full...Sorry about that -- I,m in the horn section --- did not know the recoding was short.. !
How delightful to come across this recording while looking for a winds version of Ireland’s Elegy (I frequently play the organ transcription and was eager to hear this version) - Mark Fonder was a professor of mine in undergrad! So great to hear this terrific recording.
Horn needs to be louder, needs to not push the notes, but be loud and accented at the start of the tone. Also it shouldn’t be conducted so hard, it is a solo piece. Soloist decides the tempo.
I,m guessing you are not a high school horn performer.... I completley understand all your comments --- but we only had one rehearsal with this group and a high school student gets a bit nervous , as I,m sure you know ...I played the same solo . with band in 1957 when I graduated from high school... I spent years trying to even find the music.. Thank you for your comments..
@@hrntchr yea just wanted to give some advice for future performances, i understand, that it is a high school band, but the orchestra was simply too loud to hear the horn. Where did you get the music, since I would like to request this arrangement for my orchestra :)
@@Frick-bv6xt I have the only copy that I could find -- when I graduated from high school the horn student after me asked about the music when he was the horn prof at University of Arizona at Tucson -- He played twice with the band there -- but when I contact the current teacher and the band librarian , they had no idea where it was -- even though they looked under CAliet and SAint Saens ... my version was with Saint Saens because Caliets version was in the late 60,s.. Are you a band director?? There is not a orchestra version anywhere... Piano-- and Band only , as far as I know.. Where are you at.. what state at least..??
@@Frick-bv6xt I have the onlycopy that I know of for horn and band .... you can certainly perform it sometime ---Just let me know and I can send it to you ... dk
@@hrntchr i live in Germany, i play in an orchestra but im still in high school myself, my conductor asked if I knew any solo horn pieces for horn and orchestra for me to perform, so I wanted ti play op36 and was looking for an orchestra version. All I found was string orchestra and piano though. And this version didn’t sound half bad 😅
Thank you for the tribute to my great Uncle Vince ❤🥲
you certainly are welcome -- probably the number one reason I have played horn since age 12 (now 82) is because of Vince ... I did get to meet him a couple times at International Horn conventions and I did tell him that ... He just replied thank you ... One very humble horn player and an awesome one.. I have every Mancini albbum made and they are now being made into CD,s so I can hear them in my car.
I’m only watching this because my band is playing this in marching band, but this song is amazing.
I can get you the parts if you are interested.
@@hrntchr Sure.
@@MCPCD If you send me an email to donalddkrause@gmail.com I will forward the parts to you ... it is a absolute awesome brass chart..
What a brass treat this was for the Appleton /Timber Rattlers Star Spangled Banner....
I played Horns A Plenty, marching in the Burbank Police Boys' Band back in the 1960s. I don't think I've heard this piece in over 50 years, yet I remember my flute part almost note for note!
Don,t know at this minute who wrote or arranged this tune -- I do have a complete band arrangement of the chart in my library of French horn music of quartets-- band and horn charts and next week a piece by Saint Saen --Romance for Horn solo and band will be performed by a current student of mine -- I played that same arrangement 65 years ago while in high school..Thank you for the memory ... comments..
@@hrntchr Moments after I made my previous post, I figured out who wrote the march: Leonard B Smith. All I had to do was to listen to the woman in the video who introduced you and the band! Since I've been retired, I've been involving myself more and more with other amateur musicians, including concert band, orchestra, old-time fiddle (I play guitar accom.), oldies (on bass), etc. What a joy!
@@CurtRyanMusic I AM the founder of HornsAPlentyChristmas and our reason for existence is to help with high school horn students get a few bucks to go to college-- do not have to major or minor in horn but we do hope they will perform in a college musical organization with their horn... we are over $20,000 in guest artist fees and scholarship awards over the past 21 years... I do have a ton of horn performances on youtube.. Hope you like most of them... Don

Simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing this brilliant videos, Donald.
This is an absolutely beautifully-done rendition.
❤
This is a horntastic performance!! Bravo Donald & Hons-a-plenty brass!
Thanks for this, Donald Krause! I have fond memories of hearing this performance. This was Mark Fonder's first concert as the band's conductor... so hard to believe it's been 4.5 years already!!
so much chills! Amazing rendition
I am on the left side , looking at the video from this spot ... What a musical treat .... Has to be a lifetime treat, doing an Alp horn..
Bravo Fox Valley friends, and especially old friends Deb and Andy! Lovely playing, everyone!
If I,m not mistaken our rehearsal of this was the performance... ...WOW!!
This is Stars n Stripes!!! Not Broadway Curtain Time.
I am sorry you did not hear the beginning of the video with Broadway Curtain Time .I did say in the original remarks a statement about Broadway Curtain Time and Stars and Stripes. !!!!! Maybe you missed it.
Umm lol
Bravo!!
Oh to be fthirty years younger ...
A horntastic Thank You to all the horn performers to make my great granddaughter smile.. !! Will never forget it!!
Such a wonderful performance by so many talented horn players... My granddaughter was very impressed with our dedication to my great granddaughter Emma Iannacone... She is a real peach , to say the least..!!
Love it! So glad this worked out well!
Run the speed at either 1.5 or 2 and it sounds like the speed we should have recorded it -- if I would not have had this summer crud throat , maybe we could have done it at the right speed...
I should have practiced it --- I thought we were going to play it live sight read..... My mistake!!
Nice performance for a high school sophomore !!Good job Abby ..
