I respect Bill Nye for his open honesty and even saying he can out right be wrong about all of it. And most Christian’s would be biased towards Ham since he’s the one defending the faith. And while I do like a lot of the AnswersInGensis content I do agree we as Christians can be wrong, same way scientists can be, we all at our core don’t have 100% proof of what happened, we can have strong evidence but not 100% proof. So for that I don’t like that Ham takes that position that he is always right.

apes have been shown to have a conscience several species actually have a conscience or atleast the capability for morality (like dolphins who are smart enough to be sadistic and use pufferfish as drugs) and even then the existance of conscience and free will as a whole is debatable since it can just be explained as the brain making choices that won’t screw them over in the future (aka good acts get rewarded, bad acts get punished), and recently humanity managed to digitally map the brain of a fruitfly and place it in a program and have it function which could be damning evidence against the existence of free will once we get around to mapping human brains since if a human brain can be digitally replicated then what makes us special. also nobody has seen or heard god (and was capable of proving it) so god can only exist in your imagination since nobody has any idea of what it looks like, what it sounds like, its beliefs, its ideals or if it even gives a hoot about humanity

And of course AiG completely misrepresents what people say... again. The point Bill was trying to make is not that we are in fact decendents from bacteria on Mars. He is saying that even a hypothesis like panspermia (in this case the idea that asteroids can smash into a planet and blast material and even bacteria even out of orbit of the planet in question) which is far from the most likely explanation is still a way more plausible answer than a supernatural one. The way more plausible answer is that a very basic self replicator selfassembled through chemical processes right here on Earth where there were plenty of favourable places to do so on the Early Earth. These are just the details though. We already know that every piece needed for life to start was available and abundant on Earth (even asteroids have been found to contain a multitude of amino acids which are the building blocks of life and pretty recent research has also shown that cell membranes can spontaneously form from simple chemical reactions. Making it out like scientists think the most plausible idea is that we're all Martians is just misrepresenting things to make it sound crazy. Why Answers in genesis has to sink to using that sort of tactic is because the actual scientific evidence of abiogenesis is growing by the day and is already strong enough to make it a likely explanation. Note: This has nothing to do with evolution. We know for a certainty that evolution happens and what the rough strokes of life's history on Earth is already. The genetic evidence of that alone is enough to settle that but it's also backed up by geology, anthropology, cosmology, the geological distribution of fossils, plate techtonics, etc etc. It would truly be a miracle if it turned out to be all false (but then some other theory would have to explain all that evidence somehow which evolution currently does beautifully). How life started is a completely separate issue and that is not an as well established science as of yet but still well established enough to not need supernatural excuses instead.

Maybe your god should make it less easy to attack his word. Especially since most people aren’t really actively attacking it, it just falls apart when you bring in any amount of evidence. There’s a reason most churches tell their congregation that accepting evolution is ok.
