Next time maybe try drifting the worm with the current, putting a small split shot about 3 feet above the hook. That will get you down near the bottom. I've had a lot of success that way.

Awesome getting out there bro! usually, if you're fishing with a bobber and worms, it's a set it and forget it style. Don't reel in just wait to u get a bite. I usually like to set up a drop shot rig with a worm and leave it, then I'll take another rod rigged with a spinner or swim bait and activity cast that one until I get a bite. Good luck and cool content man... also fishing is slow on the kern due to the colder weather

Hey good job on the swimbait, I also love fishing the rocks near ft. bragg. Were you around that area? Ive only found very high rocks to cast from with heavy gear, but have killed it with large striped perch. Piece of advice: perch dont really go squid. Usually small rockfish and cabs under legal size will hit squid, and not often. Use frozen shrimp with a drop shot. If uyoure using swimbaits, since snagging is almost gauranteed with an exposed hook, use an offset hook!

Next time you come back to visit...Stay away from all the tourist eating places. You can eat better for less outside of Waikiki. You did catch a lot of the attractions that locals go to when we want to do a Staycation. Hope you had a lot of fun here on Oahu, but there's more to see on the other ilsands. (Btw, have you notice that there wasn't very many great/good mexican food eateries...so if you know anyone//we need them here ; )

Choose one species and fish with conviction. ...and you can catch redtail perch on a 110 Calissa or 115 Lucky Craft surf minnow. As of late, I've been catching stripers at Blues Beach/Chadbourn Gulch...
