Jumping in the deep end! After years of punting sedans around on semi-slicks I'm making the bold step forward to a wings and slicks car. The West WR1000 is powered by a Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja drivetrain which puts out approx 180hp with a 6 speed sequential gearbox. The chain drives a quaife LSD. The car weighs approx 420kg dry and develops a lot of downforce from the floor and diffuser, ground effects style. With a proper driver it can lap most tracks faster than a V8 supercar....for about 10% of the cost. It has to be the best bang for buck racecar out there. My learning curve is a vertical line!
West WR1000 + Father & Son Drivers vs 2024 NSW Supersprint Championships Rd 4 SMSP Gardner
We are at Sydney Motorsport Park's Gardner circuit for round 4 of the Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship. Last time we were here we got rained out and the car ended up out in the swamp on the outside of turn 1. Luckily this time the weather is as good as you could hope for in July, a bit chilly but clear blue skies. In this video see you will see the difference between a great driver and a good driver.

We are at Pheasant Wood Circuit, approx 160km south west of Sydney, for Round 3 of the 2024 NSW Supersprint Championship. After a wash out at round 2 it was nice to bolt some slicks on and have a crack.

It's round 2 of the 2024 Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship. We're racing at night, under lights, at Sydney Motorsport Park's Gardner circuit. My son and I are double entered and the weather is not great. Luck of the draw what weather your group is going to get, watch the video to see how we sail.

We're at the Sydney Motorsport Park Druitt Circuit for the first round of the 2024 NSW Supersprint Championship. This is the start of my 2023 title defense, my biggest threat will be my own son driving my car!

It's round 1 of the Combined Sportscar Club Association (CSCA) supersprint series. We're at Sydney Motorsport Park on the South circuit AKA the Amaroo circuit. My son and I have double entered, he has never driven the car before, but he was a very good junior go karter. I have some seat time in the car but I've never driven this circuit before. It's been 15 years since he raced a kart, will it ...
West WR1000 + Amateur Driver vs Turn 1 at Sydney Motorsport Park

Having never driven a wings and slicks car before buying the West WR1000, I knew I it would be a challenge to drive the car at its limit. I have slowly crept up on the turn in and apex speeds, not just at Turn 1, but everywhere. Here is 12 months worth of progression, having only driven on the track on 4 occasions in that year, one of which was a wet day. There is still more to find, especially...
West WR1000 vs The Record Holder

It's round 5 of the NSW Supersprint Championship at Pheasant Wood Circuit. Goal for the weekend was to improve on my PB of 54.833. I'm on track with the current outright lap record holder, Scott Goodsell, in his Porsche GT2RS. The record is 53.726. Let's see if we can stay with him and have a go at the record.

Round 4 of the 2023 Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship was held on the 27th of August. The venue is Sydney Motor Sport Park and we are using the Druitt (North) Circuit. The track had some quite bad bumps which ended up breaking what I suspect was an already cracked lower right A arm. The car was back in the trailer at lunch time. Still more than pleased with the results. I now ha...

It's round 3 of the 2023 Motorsport Australia NSW Super Sprint Championship at Pheasant Wood Circuit, Marulan NSW. I've never driven here before so I'm going to have to learn it quickly if I want to do well. I was happy to end up 3rd outright and 1st in class 1S. This track has lots of unprotected concrete walls, the natural enemy of carbon fibre splitters. I'm leaving a bit on the table here b...

Round 1 of the Motorsport Australia NSW Supersprint Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on 12-3-23. This was run 4 for the day. I'm still learning to drive this beast. I had improved on my PB in every session so far, let's see how I go in the last session.

NSW Supersprint Championship Round 1. Sydney Motorsport Park - GP circuit. Lap times count, not track position. Final results - West WR1000 = 1.34.9. McLaren 765LT = 1.37.2.
Very close results. Well done.
go the boys,,,man that late braking into turn 2 and the hairpin is crazy. i was pushing the floor peddle lol
Excellent production guys, the sound of the car without much wind noise is great. Father and son combo’s make for a lot of friendly banter!
Thanks Phil, GoPros are great but wind noise is one of their downfalls. Having a great time with my son, creating memories.
Good racing if you're a duck! Bloody hell!
We're still drying out Glen. Easy to say in hindsight but there were some questionable calls from race control.
super glad to hear he got away with that one,,,crazy conditions
Pure luck, everyone was a passenger as soon as they tried to turn into 1. If one of the commodores had found him out there it could have been way worse. They all spoke to each other afterwards.
@@jsracing-no146 would have been a heart stopper for dad ,,,best possible outcome
Great production.
Thanks Will
love it guys great stuff

It does take a while to get used to the huge amount of grip available to such cars. My racing car is only a Sports 1300, but I too was able to go through turn 1 without lifting at nearly the same speed. I had a lot of time in the car though. :)
That's what we're talking about! Great stuff!
Great video!
congrats jeff she looks amazing to drive
Great video Jeff and thanks for sharing
Awesome video!
Well done! Imagine if you had really sticky tyres! Track well suited to your kid of car too. Looked like fun.
Thanks Glen. I do have sticky tyres. Got me a set of Avons. Track's not really fast enough for there to be any aero advantage but the car has pretty good mechanical grip.
Wow! What a awesome drive! Proud to be there to help and witness a lap record! Budget racing with 100% success, can’t ask for anymore- your a weapon!
I remember that Wet supersprint , it was a slippery wet day 🥰
nice work mate 😊Hope you get that suspension arm fixed , I GOT A new starter motor LOL and will see you a next round 🥰
Thanks Adam. New, upgraded A arms are on their way. Apparently it's a known weakness with the early Wests. New ones are much beefier so hopefully no further issues. Look forward to seeing you at Pheasant Wood for round 5.
T1 over 200kph, wild mate 😅 Well done!
Thanks Rob, It's taken a bit to get there, but getting more confident every time I drive it.
Great drive for sketchy conditions and piss poor visibility. Good to meet you on Sunday that was a nice draught you got on me down the straight but I think we need to paint our cars white😂
Thanks Aristo, I think we all did pretty well just to stay on the black stuff. Not sure I want to paint my car white, maybe add a few more green highlights to mine, definitely need to do something about the mirror situation though.
After watching Aarons video I can see where he has the extra time on you. You'll get there. Might need to pick a better spot to check your oil pressure too lol.
What a cracker!!! Nice Vid 👍👌👌
