My piano is old. It's slightly out of tune. It was given to me for free and I brought it back to life. I record these videos with my phone in my hand, sometimes the video is shaky although I do have a tripod now. If you don't like it, don't listen - don't watch. I've decided to upload videos of songs / rolls that are fun and great to hear. Others I haven't seen or can't find anywhere else online. These are great songs and pieces of history. Thanks for watching if you've chosen to do so!
Also, since my channel seems to be growing, and I'm reaching more people, I would consider trading some of my rolls. I'll cut to the chase, I'm interested in Confrey on QRS and Rudy Germain on Vocalstyle. I have about 100 blues, rags, and odd title rolls most of which I would part with for trade. Email me if interested at skgwgaietto@gmail.com

When the Red Red Robin Comes Bob Bob Bobbin Along - PEP P03779
This roll should have been thrown away. The entire left edge was gone. Tattered. Destroyed. That said, what was there to lose? Just my time, and even then, I had nothing but an experience to gain. If I failed, so what, if I succeeded, I got a piece of history back. This roll tracks horribly as you'd expect it to. I had to manually track it with the transposer. This was a tough roll to record.
I made the repair some time back and never did take the time to get the rumbles out of the bass notes. All things considered, I'm calling this a win. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

If You Knew Susie - US 43043 played by Cal Welch

I feel I could have done a better job on the recording. My piano is starting to leak and rolls with spots with fewer notes like to suck to the tracker bar and create a lag. Couple that with the fact that this roll plays low C and an arrangement I'm not too familiar with, well I think it turned ok but it didn't sound like it during recording. Thanks for watching.

I wish I would have taken some pictures of this roll before I fixed it. It was in one of those QRS unit boxes, the ones that pull out? It had been shoved in and out many times and the leader was gone. The damage had started to get into the music. I did what I could but there's still a big rumble right as the music starts. Maybe some time in a new box with a new leader will fix it? Another one I...

I recently found this roll, and others at a local antique store for $2 each. I definitely got my $2 out of this one even tho it doesn't have the original box. A friend of mine asked to hear this at a brisk tempo. I hope I did it right for you. Thanks for watching.

I recently found this at a local antique store. It had no box. A friend of mine had an original label to share with me. I paid $2 for this roll. Did I get my money's worth?

I bought this roll online for a very reasonable price. When I got it, it looked like it was in good shape, and aside from the dreaded medical tape, it was. Can I fix it?

I recently purchased this roll online. If you were the person I outbid and you happen to see this, I wasn't very happy when I opened the box of this roll. I guess I took one for the team... seems like that happens frequently..... Some tape and time and I got it back to playing again. I hope you enjoy one of my favorite songs on a Connerized Uke Roll. Thanks for watching.
Lovin' Sam - US REGULAR ROLL 11023

Were these scarce? Seems like this is comparable to the Pianostyle rolls with green labels and reeded edges. This is the only roll I have on the US label (during the era of printed lyrics) made without lyrics and branded "regular" I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

That a great roll! What a fun version. The world is a better place today with this post!
Definitely a win.
👏👏👏👏👏
Is this a sequel to Susie's Feller? He finally gets known as Susie's Feller! Now he makes sure that EVERYONE is aware of this fact.
This is one of those songs that almost everybody wants on his player, because it’s a very merrily melody and it makes you smile! (Me anyway 😁) It sounds great on your player!
Great roll!
Nice. Always was one of my favorites.
The Regular rolls generally seem to be copies of Word rolls that were issued a month or so prior. This late release combined with the lack of lyrics warranted the budget 60¢ price tag. The last 4 digits of the number coincide with the last 4 digits of the Word rolls being produced at the time (but not the Word roll that the Regular one was taken from). For example, the Word roll version of this song is 41006, but this roll number is not 11006 but rather something later, because by the time this Regular version came out, the Word rolls were up to 41023. I can check the artist for you later if you're interested. I think it sounds like Cook though? Anyway, thanks as always for sharing so much history through the music.
Issued December 1922. Great roll! Thanks!
This is a fantastic roll btw. I didn't mean to make it all about me. I love your channel in part because it is such a useful tool for researching these rolls!! Cheers!
Never seen another copy you say? Well I just got one in the giant lot of boxless rolls...!
You don’t want to date her. Her mothers a diabetic
Nice tune! This era isn't so common for QRS I think. Thank you for sharing!
Looks like we both had the same guy in mind today
In my ongoing effort to connect point A and point B, some of this sounds like Ain’t we Got Fun 👀
👏👏👏👏👏
The different songs I can hear coming through this arrangement definitely sounds like Sims to me, but the ending seems more like Billings. I could be wrong about the last part but that poked out at me because of my Bye Bye Blackbird roll.
The current and previous song was depressing but this cheerful touch is 100 times better
I wish I could even find more locally. I've bought out all the antique stores! I can hear hints of the 12th street rag in this one, not to mention the metal flanges are nice. Great buy!
I’m so hooked - whenever I hear anything sounding like twelfth street rag I immediately spring up
Yes! I thought I put that in my description but I didnt.... I thought the same thing!
@ It was so wildly successful, it’s crazy to think how many other people “sampled” it I guess you could say
I was re-listening to “I’ll See You in My Dreams” and same sort of thing… curious.
I was re-listening to “I’ll See You in My Dreams” and same sort of thing… curious.
The most Zez Confrey song I’ve heard in a while
where do they make these!!! oh wait.........
I like this better than the US version...thanks!
Never heard this one before. Glad you saved the roll!
Nice roll! I know what you mean by those QRS pull-out boxes. They can damage a roll quickly!
They were a terrible invention 😅
This is awesome. The tempo is perfect, great contrast to the slower recordings out there so now we can all listen at any tempo we want! 😂 Thank you so much for this wonderful post, my friend.
I have a copy of this roll with the original label. You are correct, Lee Sims is listed as the pianist.
I absolutely love the Japanese Sandman insert at about 1:30... What did you think of my Sims post yesterday?
@@SevenPlus65 me too! I will listen again to Sims. I promise I did already.
That’s one of the interesting good rolls of Pete Wending. When I first started collecting years ago I thought I would like to collect every Pete Wendling roll , which to this day I’m no where near it. I did find of the ones I collected that they are not all that good either due to the composition or a less interesting arrangement. I’ve never heard of this one , but it’s one of the good ones .
Thanks for commenting. I always look forward to your input. I had no idea what this roll was until I was able to play it and see the 2557 at the end. I thought it was rather good myself. I heard Wendling recorded over 600 rolls for QRS? How close are you? Im just curious. I always try and snag one of his whenever I find one.
A worthwhile investment indeed!
I think you should've paid more.
大好きな曲です👍😋
What an endearing and joyous arrangement! Already one of my favourites, why did I miss this upload?!
A catching melody! Thanks for the post👍🏻
Great roll👍🏻
Looks like your baby has had some boo, boo’s ! Connorized rolls always have good arrangements.
Very snappy arrangement. Great post, thank you!
100 years old today! Great old tune. Glad to see that it's still playable.
Nice save!
Most will know and recognize this from Roger Rabbit.... but there's a few piano nerds who know it's been around much longer! I might just personally know one or more of those nerds 🤓 😅.... and if Porky Pig isn't ringing in your minds memory, that last second of the post..... then you've missed out!
@@SevenPlus65 you watched until the end!!! :) :) :)
@Skgwgaietto Of course I did! Not watching a piano roll until the end is like shooting yourself in the foot. Some of the absolute best chords, scales, and arpeggios ever composed are at the end of a piano roll.
@@SevenPlus65 I have to agree with you. Long long long ago a co-mechanicalmusic lover told me: “When ever you start a melody, nèver stop playing it before it ends as planned!!” (TonnievdB)
👏👏👏👏👏
👏👏👏👏👏
Nice song, Happy New Year!
@@Emilz19 Happy New Year to you as well! Thank you :)
Great roll! I enjoyed this very much!!
Fun roll! Thanks!
Brilliant tune for ending this year, and my wish for a wonderful start of the new one! 🎉
I love the guys who let the lyrics be visible and clear so if anyone wants to sing along the can! Thanks man!❤
This song always finds a way of getting to me, I do, though, like this way more than the normal QRS version that I own
