Переглядів 58 тис.7 років тому
My first video on how to how to service your Yamaha 60-70hp 85-90hp Lower Unit and Gear Oil in full detail. Hope you enjoy and find this helpful, please leave feedback Thank you Sincerely Five Star Marine
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Im intrigued why you snipped the motor wire on a unit you had just rebuilt. There will now be a join in the wire subject to corrosion.
I had exactly the same question 😂 and came to the comments to read if anybody notice it
Great vid, just cant see anything, the steering tube is what i cant see
Life saver for me finding this video right away. I have a 1993 85 hp exactly like in your video I just purchased it and a previous owner had stripped out 2 of the 3 bolts holding in the pump motor so I had to pull out the unit and used Helicoil’s to repair all 3 holes, it would have been impossible to do without removing the entire unit but your video made it very simple with all of your details. I appreciate your efforts on making this video it was really helpful keep up the great content 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you
Hi there, I have very same engine, just 50hp, i am just wondering 🤔, are those tilt rams is the same , because it is very hard to find the parts 😬. Mine Tilt ram looks very same like yours!!
Excellent video, I have that same engine and I want to put a propeller like the one you have mounted on it. Can you tell me what size it is and what pich number? thanks
Great info. Just wish I could have seen close up what you were doing
Thanks very much for this video. You make a good teacher. Like the pace of the video and the explanations 👍
Great video, thanks
Hi, hopefully you see this. I just did one of these and watched your video right before I did the work, Ive done lots of impellers and this one I just did the shifter is broken inside the lower unit and I know you have to have the lower unit all the way up before tightening the bolts which it was, all the way up and the owners just bought this boat and called the previous owner and he said the shifter was perfect when he sold it and I broke it putting it back together but my customer the new owner said they always had a really hard time shifting. I just went there to do the impeller and when I pulled the impeller out it was split all the way down the key way, right in half the blades were fine, that almost seems to me it was spinning fast and stopped even faster like they hit something. Have you ever seen it where the key way was split down the middle of the impeller?
Most likely a cheap aftermarket Chinese impeller hard to say what's up with the shifter without taking a look at it.
Does the gear linkage need to be undone or loosened to remove the lower leg? How is it connected? Cheers Matt
Just the video I was after. Thank you champion.
Appreciate the info!
Buying the rebuild kit and tools from you guys. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video! I need to knock this out on my 75 and this was a great walk through on it. Only suggestions would be parts/supply info listed.
You made a cool video
good afternoon, please which initial adjustment of the carburettor air bolts, thank you.
How to align the rod in the gearbox on the leg of a 70 hp Yamaha
Really helpful video, thanks!
Nice video couple of questions and suggestion when you put the impeller in How do you bend the blades clockwise or counterclockwise What was the name of Liquid gasket material used on the water pump housing and last thing could you please put a sheet up or something for the background on your workbench I was having a hard time seeing the gearshift rod because the background was so busy
My reverse is grinding I watch other UA-cam videos it state that if it Grinds it is not aligned properly How can you not Aline A spline correctly Neutral And Forward works ok I have Adjust the linkage With no correction please help
did you heat it up because that 2nd bolt under the zinc the was frozen? ,you said you might drill something out when you had it on the bench .That bolt is frozen on mine i cant get it out to change my water pump.
j. f. Use heat and a hammer just be gentile and methodical as to not break the cavitation plates.
@@fivestarmarine2945 let me ask can you start a motor with the lower unit off and if so is there any harm my lower unit is messed up I know but I want to reassure myself that the motor still works it was working fine when the lower unit went out please help thank you in advance
Informative, enjoyed the video..
Hi, do you have any video about how to install powertrim on a motor like this? I need to do this now. I have an help cylinder and want to install my powertrim on my 60HP 87 Yamaha
I have a 90 hp Yamaha 4 stroke with the motor stuck in the down position. I cannot get the release screw turned so I can manually raise the trim enough to trailer it to my boat mechanic. Any suggestions to help me get the trim raised manually? I guess I could just drain the fluid out. Right? Thanks.
Great vid! Just curious as to why you have to remove the hydraulic steering? Thinking about doing this on mine and it's very similar.
Great video. I just bought a 1990 Key West with a 90hp on it. I have to do this and had no clue how it was going to come out. Now I can do it on my own. I will also be painting it while I have it out.
Thanks for the reply. Ok I've successfully gotten the nut backed off, but now the motor mount itself won't slide to the right to get the tilt unit out. Any other suggestions for that. I don't have acetylene torch to heat it up, will heat from a propane tank do any good. Oh, I have also soaked the mount in acetone/ATF for two days.
Richard P heat and a big brass hammer.
I did a day of white vinegar and acetone/ATF and voila! After 3 days of monkeying around it finally broke. Now off to the shop to have the seals replaced - because I don't have the right tools for the caps. Will let you know when it's all back together. Just hope the shop can test the unit without being on the mounts...
Yah! The motor mount on the right side finally broke loose... I had been soaking it for 3 days with various penetrating oils - PB Blaster/Acetone - ATF mix but today I soaked that thing up with white vinegar for a few hours and back again with ATF and got some movement. I balanced a 2 x 4 across the bottom of the engine and proceeded to sledge that sucker and it move pretty freely. So I am guessing that patience wins the day - not something a shop could afford but a DIY can...
I’m having same problem , mount wont budge over! It’s seized up! Been pb blasting it , and kroil. I’ve beat it to shit with a 2x4 and 3lb maul! Any suggestions?
Thanks for the video ! Would love to see a video on replacing the lower seals on this particular motor. Also, what is your suggestions for 1. Lower unit lube brand/type/weight and 2. Trim hydraulic fluid Yamaha or ATF ?
Any advice on backing off the large nut near the steering tube? Mine looks pretty rusty. I'll need to slide one side of the mount in order to get the unit out like you did.
It all depends on how extensive the rust is, if you cant get a socket around it because its that extensive i recommend a Dremel and make to incision on opposite sides and then pry it off. Also heat is your best friend in any scenario like that. Best of luck
Just in time Thank you very much for the video You're my god Spain says thanks Hasta la vista :)
whauu Just in time I was about to cut the sides Thank you very much for the video You're my god
Ramon - were you able to slide the right hand side motor mount easily?
it was not easy the steering rod screw was somewhat rusted then it was a bit difficult to remove the support, the engine fell to that side but in the end I got it thank you very much
Nice job Devon!
