We have recently been introduced to the Jacqueline cha cha and trying to learn it. We sometimes find that different teachers interpret the script differently and some venues dance each dance with variations. In the Tower you fall into the Blackpool way.

We were privileged to meet 2 very good Cunard dance instructors on a Queen Victoria cruise. There instruction when they took group and individual lessons was excellent. We wonder where they are now and wish them ever success and happiness going forward. Thank you for the help you gave us in lessons and thank you for sharing your skills.

What an amazing competition. The ballroom was transformed with seating around the dance floor and the stage set out to accommodate a big band. The competition was fierce and exhausting for the dancers, with 10 heats before they advanced to the final stages.

The Mighty Wurlitzer is brought to life by Phil Kelsall MBE as he plays for Ballroom, Latin, old time, fun and sequence dancers. Phil has played at the tower since 1977, true dedication. We seem to take the ballroom for granted as regular dancers, but the atmosphere created by the dedicated Wurlitzer organ and keyboard musicians is always special.

A group of young , obviously formally trained dancers joined the regular users of the tower ballroom. Hopefully they will continue to enjoy their dancing and do well in the dance world in the future.

The infamous 'old' much loved QE2 Ocean Liner had a small stage and entertainment area and resident dancers had to tailor their routines and demonstrations to fit the available space. Enjoy watching.

We started dancing late in life and wish we had had the opportunity to dance when we are much younger. But wow! watching those who have danced from an early age, the training and opportunity , combined with their hard work and talent, what a privilege to see them perform.
They are very good and I know lots of folk like watching these displays. I can't help feeling that five minutes of my valuable dancing time is being stolen from me! I don't like sitting watching someone entertaining me. I just want music and for us to be up dancing as a couple. We get a quick gulp of liquid in between numbers.

The charming lady in the blue dress is a regular at the ballroom and has been dancing there for a lot of years. There is a core of regular dancers, many flamboyant with a common thread of a love of dance. Hope their dancing years continue.

Yes. There are times when some dancers will do something different to the announced dance. We feel that it adds to the atmosphere.

The Sally Ann cha cha has a turn and a clap of the hands as partners 'chase'. Some dancers also punch the air and shout on the turn. Is this what you have seen? Hope you enjoyed the video.

That dance is the Rumba One....we do it in Australia also.
This was the first sequence dance we learned. It is a popular dance in English venues. A perennial.
A lovely dance floor on the ship. Looking forward to getting back to more local dance venues now.

This is an old time waltz called the Valetta and is popular in Blackpool tower.

I am now in my 90s and I learnt to ballroom dance in 1949 to the music of Victor Silvester Heel and Toe I learnt to glide around the ballroom like a skater Very Happy Memories
And we were 70'ish when we started dancing and have fallen in love with dance and will continue to do as much as we can for as long as we can.. We meet many lovely people of a similar age or older who love to dance too. We have a teacher who danced in a BBC come dancing formation team. He glides over the floor too. Thanks for your note.

I remember dancing in this famous and beautiful ornate ballroom. 😊
The ballroom is still alive and well. The atmosphere, just as special. New visitors visibly gasp in wonder as they enter. The refurbished floor and the new gold leaf make it even more special. Long may it be there.
There is a good group of friendly regular dancers at the ballroom enjoying the atmosphere and loving dancing. Good to see the dance floor busy with groups and afternoon teas visitors too.
That poor lady in the lavender dancing alone... I feel bad for her. Are there no gentlemen hosts like on the cruise ships?
The lovely lady is a regular dancer and during this dance was eventually partnered by a lady. But generally she will have her pick of a number of single male partners who are also regulars at the tower.

Old Hydro Turbine Hall. The Building was a Power station creating free energy from the sea. The Pier and tower where part of the system and Black-POOL used to be an industrial area back in REAL HISTORY. Now.. Are you going to delete my comment again?

Hello, can anyone tell me who the gentleman is with the white shirt, black waistcoat and glasses? We were in the ballroom yesterday watching some dancing and we were captivated by him! He was fantastic😊. I see he features in a few ballroom videos on here. Thank you.
We only know him as Simon, he is a star and hasn't been going to the tower for that long, but he loves what he does and he does it well.

Perhaps the dedicated young dancers who are out there will, after going as far as they can to become "good " dancers will eventually grow old gracefully and enjoy the feeling of dancing with their partner on famous ballroom floors such as Blackpool tower ballroom. Surely there is hope for the future. Take care.❤
Isn't it a great pity that the very thing that kept up the country's spirits during the War has faded out of our culture as the older generation pass on? So gentile and respectful - a far cry from all the ridiculous nonsense contributing to the breakdown of our society today.
