Another person in the comment section asked this and I explained that due to Anderson spending a lot of time from a young age flitting between the US and the UK it has resulted in her being something called bidialectal, ie she naturally has two distinct accents that will pop up depending on her environment. Born in Chicago. Raised in London. Moved to Michigan. Worked in New York. Also spending a lot of time in England. It isn't that she's affecting an accent, it's just due to her environment. I give the example of John Barrowman clearly having an American accent - yet due to him in fact being Scottish, his Scottish accent pops back up when interviewed by Lorraine Kelly (a fellow Scot). It's on UA-cam. Seems odd or false, but it does happen. The first commenter was super arrogant calling Anderson "insufferably pretentious" and when I took the time to explain he simply said "Wrong, that doesn't happen". What a douchebag lol.

Hate to be this person but you’ve rather jumped to an incorrect conclusion in this particular case and shown your ignorance. Gillian Anderson was born in Chicago, raised in London before moving to Michigan and working as an actor in New York. She has spent many years in England and America alike. Due to her working and living frequently in BOTH the UK and US she is what’s called bidialectal, ie has learned and actively speaks in both American and British accents. She’s not “affecting” anything. If she’s in the UK she will naturally speak in her British accent whereas in America her American will pop up. It’s not that uncommon. John Barrowman is actually Scottish despite his clear American accent and you can hear his Scottish accent come out when interviewed by Lorraine Kelly (another Scot).

I gave you a perfect example of Barrowman sounding Scottish around Scottish people despite clearly having an American accent and you have the arrogance to simply say “wrong, that doesn’t happen”? Are you all knowing? So if you lived in a country for ages then moved, if you went back there you’re saying your original accent wouldn’t pop up because of what you’re hearing around you? Get off your high horse. You are the one who is wrong here. A simple internet search would suffice but you must be above all that. How sad. Why would Anderson go to the trouble of faking an accent? Her accent change is very well documented as it’s been asked about a lot. You’re just a 🔔🔚.

@@jishan6992 I think they were attracted to each other but they weren’t compatible. Gillian had given hints in interviews over the years that it would never happen because she knows him too well. They’re friends though.
