Can I offer some friendly advice as someone who played net for most of his life? I’d like to see you a little lower, because you’re a bit too upright. This is gonna do a couple of things. You will be more explosive in your movements and if you have to push all the way across the crease, you’re going to need as much extension on your pushing leg as possible. You can’t do that being upright. Another thing this is going to do is allow your stick blade to lay flat along the ice. Notice how when you square up the heel of your stick is up? It’s because you’re standing just a tad too tall. So when you work that first drill, stay down in your stance the whole time. Try not to bounce up and down because you won’t be doing that in a game. You’ll need to stay low to stay quick, look around screens, etc while still being able to block shots if they come in low. Playing goalie is almost like doing a wall sit or a static squat. It’ll take time to develop but staying low keeps you quick and springy. Hey big respect for getting in there and doing the job!! Keep up the hard work!
