UPBEAT MEDLEY PARAMOUNT 332 VTPO
John Lauter came up to my Studio Organ and spent the weekend preparing for an organ social. Here is a sample of what he worked up for the show. I have a 3 manual VTPO built from a Rodgers 333 case, I have an Apple computer running Hauptwerk 4.The sample set is the Paramount Organ Works 332, I have 10 channels so far and use half Klipsch and half m-audio speakers. I have an Adcom multichannel amplifier and a Echo Audiofire 12 unit to convert digital to analog.

This is another first recording of the instrument that I have been assembling in my basement studio. I am still voicing the organ but have the basics done enough to be presentable. I am still working to get the keyboards responsive due to the age and they are real wood and affective by temperature. I am running currently 10 channels of sound through an Echo Firewire 12 unit connected to my comp...

I Got the World on a String Wurlitzer Pipe Organ
Переглядів 38811 років тому
I find it a lot of fun to go to a home with a great Wurlitzer such as the one owned by Gary Bieck and get a chance to play it at an open console session. I hope everyone enjoys this short rendition of I Got the World on a String, one of my favorites.
The Meyer Wurlitzer in Concert

In February 2013 I participated in a show at the Meyer Theatre with my friend Frank Rippl and his wife Carol. I did a short solo on the organ and this is a part of it. The Wurlitzer is easy and fun to play and I always enjoy being at this theatre.
Weidner Center VTPO Performance
Переглядів 11611 років тому
On June 11th I performed at the Weidner Center on the large Casavant pipe organ. I accompanied a silent film called Seven Chances starring Buster Keaton. To give the audience the feel of a real motion picture palace I was able to hook up my traveling Paramount 320 theater organ sample set to the MIDI of the pipe organ. The sound techs were great and were able to match up the two instruments to ...

The Meyer Wurlitzer in Green Bay is a 2 manual 8 rank instrument that has a big sound in the restored theatre, listen to Donnie Rankin as he goes through some of the modifications done to the console and then, during a live show, shows off the organ's sounds and finishes with a nice holiday tune. Wonderful version of a greatly un appreciated song
The Paramount 332 turns that ole skool 340 on its side and then some!! Amazing how digital does this to analog!! I have the 340 and may do a mdi..but I have a prototype 5 manual VTPO console that does all the paramount stuff already. For sure: It can use upgrades!! Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed. I've got the 340 console but really don't want to MIDI. I have a prototype 5 manual DIY. 5th k'b is really a floater ..no s/w for the 5th. I noticed yourr stop rail is non=functional. It looks like the pistons are functional. The mag stop rail drivers and system is NOT cheap. Besides: There are only about 9 ranks on the 340, opposed to the 32 ranks of your paramount 332 s/w. So the 340 stops are meaningless I believe.
My viewpoint. The switching from East Bound video then switching to West Bound video then switching back to East Bound video, distorts the viewer experience. Normal routing is East Bound from the East Union Station to the End of Line then West Bound to the End of Line, then East Bound to East Union Station.
I have always oved Eddie's playing sine I was introduced to him when he played with Wayne Hancock.

Great sound, great song choices. Been looking at your videos for couple hours, thanks for posting them.
This video is one of my favorites when I filmed these trees in 2008. We had a lot of rain and sun that year and everything just popped. I have a new channel now under my name but it is nice to see that my old stuff can still be viewed.
First comment
No John did not write that book it was Bill Coale visit his web at The Genius of George Wright and comment to him. Thanks for watching.
If this player is the man who wrote the book about George Wright's life, I have some bones to pick with him about the Hollywood Philharmonic facts!
Wasn't me. T'was Bill Coale.
Cool
Nice to see an Evanston Express sign displayed. I remember the 4000s on that line and could tell them apart from the 6000s just by their sounds. Looks as if they tacked on a wooden elevated car on the end. They were compatible with the 4000s and often times you'd have mixed trains of wooden and steel cars. Then when the State St. subway opened, all the 4000s, which were scattered throughout the system, were rounded up for subway service.
There was a question about which Rodgers console was used, and it is the Olympic 333.
Since this recording was done a few upgrades have been done, gone are the m-audio speakers and replacing them are Klipsch Heresy speakers, with Adcom audiophile amplifiers. Also the upgraded organ has a Paramount 341 sampleset, plus 15 other sets including a 3 manual Schantz concert organ. There are two channels going through Behringer 15 inch speaker which provide the subbase sounds plus have different digital reverb for dry organ samples.

Very nice !! Are the registrations you are using the default 'out of box' ones or are they ones you have set up? The reason I ask is that I am trying to setup my own registrations on my 320 and find I can't seem to approximate what I hear others use.
Love your playing and style.....but that great 3/32 just don't sound right "dry"..... woo hoo !!
It is a work in progress, and the owner can certainly add reverb. I liked it as a studio type sound.
Nicely played. Although I would have repaired my Rodgers instead of turning into a Hauptwerk driver. Just the same, I played Hauptwerk through my pair of Magneplaner Smg-a's speakers and it sounds much much better than any standard speaker. I highly recommend you check these speakers out ( no I am not in any way affiliated with any company, I'm a fan). Now granted my Smg-a's are 40 years old, but sound perfect STILL. The reason I rec. is because these speakers move a mass of air with less density per the area so the virtual 'fakiness' seems to just not be there with these speakers. It's what I believe to be a missing element in these virtual processes. I suggest you ask around to see what others think of Magneplaners for VTPO:) Good luck, and nice playing.
The Paramount VTPO sound is always authentic, nice post of the tune "We'll be Together Again" great playing, nice voicing.
not good singing voice never have seen one that size
Nicely played indeed! - and congratulations to a very nice organ!
Great playing and singing!
Great song!
I suppose it's a MIDI File, with MIDI interface on Piano and Wurlitzer !
Great!
What kind of guitar?
Remember that organ well in the 1960's with a waterfall console - a 2-9 I think. A brilliant organ fellow from Manitowoc used to work on it with some school buddies of mine.
VEry Very enjoyable. I'm just exploring the possibilities of VTPO - would love to chat sometime on how your made yours happen. Such a smooth and relaxing sound. Feel free to email me direct at TJBentley3815@gmail.com. And yes please MORE!!!!!
Damn! I didn't know they even ran those Big Orange South Shore cars there! Wow!
Nice to see the 4000s signed as an Evanston Express. That's how I remember them. Funny thing, they didn't seem to go as fast on that line as they do at IRM. They really moved when I rode on them there!
What happened to the Wurlitizer waterfall console 2-8 from the Bay theatre that was installed in the late 1920's??? What a great job your tos folks did on this instrument. Who is Meyer? THANKS,
According to Wikipedia; The building was restored in 2002 and renamed the Robert T. Meyer Theatre, in honor of a former Green Bay businessman.
Nice demo!! Thanks
I love Wurlitzer Organ's. Nice job!
Will you ask him to do that to my organ in my house. I mean rig my piano to my organ.
I agree loose the music
ps...i forgot to mention.....I DL'd the Paramount 310 from Hauptwerk (plus nearly a dozen other VPO's icluding both Miditzers
you play well enough to be appreciated...so whenever you feel up to it...let's hear sommore medleys.....and maybe try a camera angle to show your playing techniques...and a PACKER'S FAN....huh? me too..... :-)
oh, i see......well, you did a great job and play very well...but i (as well as others i guess) would like a video shot showing your playing techniques.....why not do it again (even a different medley) with a side cam set-up to show your playing technique...i always like to learn something new...especially if it's from a really good artist... :-)
very good VTPO sound...I do wish your cameraman could have been a bit more versitile and got afew different angles.... :-)
Thanks for posting
haha, i was hoping to see you guys dance, and found a pic of me at the end at 4:49. 2funny!
i WOULD GIVE MY EYE TEETH TO GO THERE
This vid would be much better without the Dueling Banjos. God, it makes it sound like light rail made it to the hillbilly towns. Otherwise, I give it a B+. You got some good shots.
Very enjoyable in all aspects. More Please.
