Hey reefers!
Thanks for swimming by. I'm Jade & i created my channel to document my journey in the reefing hobby & to help my fellow fish people out with tips & how to's
I've been a fish mum for over 22 years.
Just over 6 years ago i decided to take the plunge & dive into saltwater!
I'm so glad i did!. I used to keep a written diary of the things i did with my tanks but this time i wanted something better which is what brought me to you guys here on UA-cam.
I would love to help, educate & inspire all those new comers to the hobby & meet like minded fish people where we can talk all things reefing.
I hope you come with me on my salty journey & join my fish family 😁🧜🏽♀️

I try to culture them in the sump of my tank..any tips? Thanks in advance 😊
Can an Anemone detect the hand and the shrimp? On video It seems that I saw some of its tentacles point to the shrimp piece as she proceeded to feed it by hand
When are you coming back? 😔
I didnt knowni could feed them cooked prawn to be honest.
I bought these a few weeks ago. Love them. They really make photographing my aquarium a real joy.
would they go after fish for food?
Their tentacles are sticky so a fish could get caught if it's not careful but it's very rare.
Great episode 👌👍🙌
No one ever covers the milk at bottom that has all the babies and eggs
Very helpful! Thank you.
informative. It has cleared the barrier for me to get one. thanks
Can i use bio filtration on this culture, so i dont need to water change?
hi Tanks for the nice video :-) #melvinthepufferfish
Thanks for this, gonna giving this a try!
how to get mass culture of copepod
What’s you feeding?
Net size for copepod, please 🙏
What's with the light on the stand?
What about shrimp
Just to confirm, you do a water change every month?
My salinity got.high while I was out of town from evaporating and I didn't realize it so for two weeks it was very high. Now my sea anemone seams to be dieing. Any advice I'm very upset
use a turkey baster to feed them.
Or pippet,if a clown is hosting it,the fish feed them too
Hi great video, from one live packet culture how much you can get enough to harvest and continue your own culture, thank you
Thank you! First video on step by step! ❤
I'm feeding my pods tetraselmus which is much lighter than your phyto. I find I have to add phyto frequently and in fairly large amounts. How often do your cultures lighten up and need more phyto?
So.. Did the culture work? Did you get many copepods like this?
I did do another video showing I had a boom in pod populations. So the awnser is yes it did work and they did breed regularly. Hope that helped
Not sure if you answered this or not, but if you have algae with the pods in the culture would you still need to do water changes? Or at least a lot less often?
Hi! I’m aware that most (if not all) anemones can eat fish, so besides clownfish…what other fish can you have in a tank with them? Will those fish just naturally know and avoid the anemone? How does that work?
You can have most fish with anemones they soon realise they can't go near it when they accidently brush into it and it stings them. The only fish that are a big no no. Are fish like coral gobies, dragonets and other slow swimming fish that like to settle on things. Saying that I had a bi colour blenny and he never went near. But yeah avoid coral gobies and dragonets and research compatability of every fish you buy 😊
@@TheSaltyLife thank you so much! I’m just starting to get into this hobby so it helps a lot!:)
Will look forward to you're other videos 😊
Brilliant video thanks
Your very welcome 😊
Hello, I just got my first bubble tip today. It’s been in the tank for a few hours now and after being retracted for a bit, it is now fully puffed out and accepted some food a bit ago. How long after you introduced your nem did it decide to move?
Hey 👋🏼 congrats on the new bubble tip! So when I had bubble tips I found it stayed put for about a month and then after that it started going for evening jogs around the rock 😄 once it started moving it didn't stop..it kept moving.. then It eventually started becoming a nuisance touching all my corals and when it started splitting and I had multiple anemones on the move.. I removed off of the rockwork and gave them to my LFS. 😊
I'm Brazilian and I'm loving the tips. Thank you very much
Your very welcome 😊 glad my vids are helping 😃
How long are you leaving your light on for?
This light was just a demonstration. I used natural daylight as was near a window. But if I was to have run lights on it, I would have run them for up to 8 hours a day. Hope that helps 😊
10 hours
I have freshwater copepods in my culture setup ...Good to see your culture setup... I hv been using dechlorinated water and the water turns green in some days..why does that happen
Parabéns pelo vídeo, seu vídeo chegou até o Brasil é está sendo útil para mim, logo vou começar minha cultura
great vid! thanks.
I was feeding mine silver sides. It spit it up after about 4 or 5 hours.
Probably too big for it to digest 🤔
Think this is enough to sustain a 90 gallon (340 litre) tank?
If you could keep the culture going with regular harvests, maybe.. but o would probably run two for a tank that size.. and depending what fish you own.. eg if you have fish that primarily eat pods like dragonettes then I would probs run two or 3 of these.
@@TheSaltyLifeIs the light you used just regular light?
thank u for video. can you explain how to get the live copepods?
Buy them
@@TheSaltyLife Madam is it possible to sort out copepods from live zooplankton samples
@@dr.gpadmavati7610 not sure what you mean. But copepods don't come with plankton you have to buy separate.
Mam Is that possible to deliver India. Pls share the Species Technical name.
are water changes mandatory? or can I just remove waste
Water changes are mandatory every now and again to keep ammonia and other nutrient levels down.
Lost all of mine in the heat of last week. How often and how much do you feed.
How often do you feed it?
I am going to start, and ordering a kit next payday. Question, do you notice the pods at the bottom of the container when it is not agitated?
The pods were everywhere. Even when I wasn't cleaning them all out . 😊
thank you! this is the best how to grow copepods vid I’ve seen so far!
Hey thank you 😊 glad it helped you out 😃
Do I need an air vent in the lid?
Not if you have oxygen going into the container via a air pump. 😃
hello, can i feed it some shrimp?
you seen her fed it shrimp right? so why ask? come on pay more attention to the video
hi . fyi if you put a small light near the top {best done in a dark room} you can harvest with a dropper all the n1+ stage naps . if you only scoop your actually throwing out 2 weeks worth of young which is seriously hitting your growth rates.
We're did you get your copepod start kit from.
Hey! I got it from reefphyto.co.uk 😊
