How to Paint a Realistic Seashell in a Wave with Sea Foam on a Sandy Beach with Watercolors Tutorial
To download the reference images to this tutorial, learn my system for painting with watercolors, and get access to my feedback join my online Art Academy: www.tracylizottestudios.com/academy
MATERIALS:
I used Winsor & Newton watercolors and painted on Arches 300 lb Hot Press watercolor paper with a size 0, 4, and 10 Princeton round brush.
Here are the colors I use:
- Sepia
- Burnt Sienna
- Payne's Grey
- Viridian
HELPFUL TIPS:
👉 Test your colors out on scrap paper first!
👉 Remember to use a lot of water and keep your colors light.
👉Mix Sepia with Payne's Grey for the lighter bubbles, and Burnt Sienna for the darker areas.
👉 If you don't have Viridian you can mix Payne's grey with Hookers Green.

How to Paint an Egg with Watercolors
My cheap paper just buckles and creates pools of cauliflower. I give up until I find cotton.
It’s worth it to get good paper. It makes all the difference when painting with watercolors.
Great information.
Thanks so much for this very helpful and inspiring video! I will see you in your Academy! Thx
Glad it helped! 😃
This is a fantastic source of information, thanks so much! Very informative and helpful.
😮When you create Limited Editions.. how many do you make for each painting ? Are 100 pieces ok ?
It depends on how big your audience is and your selling strategy. This is something I teach in the marketing section of my Art Academy: www.tracylizottestudios.com/academy
Did you do those 26 show all alone by your self or do you need a helper?
Yes, I do my shows by myself
Me having a variety of price ranges, but 99% of them stick to the $5-$10 merch range T___T
Sell more of what’s working. Build out collections and add to them every year for your costumers to come back and add on to what they bought previously. I sell mostly $22 prints. It can be done at the lower price range.
With this set up how do you do in wind?
I do fine with the wind because I invested in a good canopy. I have a Trimline.
You're one of the most competent sellers I've watched. Thanks for the info.
Wow, thanks!
Beautiful!
Nicely painted, however, with just music, and a sped up video makes it very difficult to learn anything. So I wouldn't consider this a learning tutorial
It's not meant to be a learning tutorial. It's just a quick video to show my collectors a bit behind the scene on how I made this painting. If you are interested in a learning tutorial check out: ua-cam.com/video/vZqSBSklo5Q/v-deo.htmlsi=5ZhhEHFE4Yl7p6LJ
Beautiful but I feel a bit dizzy from watching and the nervous music 😂😂😂😂 love to be able to paint like that but don’t even get my hands on that rubble off stuff
This is going to sound corny as hell but work with me here - the reason why I clicked on your video is because we both share the last name Lizotte and I'm an artist too!
I have a theory there is one Lizotte family per town. I have met a lot of Lizotte’s out there when I do my shows and none of them are aware of each other. Nice to meet you Kim! 😄
That's an awesome drawring, lol
I would make prints....
Love this painting so much . Thank you for sharing! I hope to attempt this some day soon (Still working on the squirrel from beginners watercolor class lol.) Watching this video short is so relaxing. ❤ a moment of peace and beauty in a stressful day.
Aww! Thank you Tamara! It’s encouraging to hear you found the video relaxing! I think you will enjoy making it when you are ready!
What do you use for your label tags for your artwork?
This is beautiful!
Thank you!
❤Glorious! Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you! I really appreciate it ❤️
❤I am so excited about this. I love this!
Excellent to hear! 😃
Beautiful
Thank you!
I love the painting! If you're willing to share your secrets, it would be great to know- which masking fluid do you use? I've only every used masking fluid once and it ripped my page apart on removal, so I was put off from using it!
I use Winsor Newton colorless, but it's more about using good quality paper than the masking fluid. Watch this tutorial on paper: ua-cam.com/video/guthf4JpsqA/v-deo.htmlsi=licfajmRH48mUW7V
omg! watching the process was so much fun. so awesome! 🫨
Yay! That is terrific to hear!
Goooooorgeous!
Thank you!
That’s p cool
Thank you!
Any estimate on how many paintings to take for a 10 x 10 indoor booth? I do have one wall space.
I can't answer that without knowing a lot more about you and your art. I do coach artists in the Seller Studio, which is the marketing section of my Art Academy, if you're interested in my help: www.tracylizottestudios.com/academy
@@TracyLizotteStudios I see your point. I'll give that some thought certainly.
Haha exactly. It involves using two different parts of our brains 😅
Sure does!!!
Right and left!
My problem is getting organized because I create in so many different mediums.
I think getting organized is a hard part for most artist. It’s super hard for me too. It’s like I can’t be creative and organized at the same time. 😂
Where did you get the mesh behind the burlap? What exactly is it called when I look for it on amazon? Thank you
They are flourish panels. Go checkout flourish canopies and displays
More helpful advice! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your expertise. Good instructions!
Happy to hear it helped!
Some of the drawings that were from imagination were better, had more of a flair. But what is exactly the point in this excersise?
So cute!
Thank you!
This drawing is great!!❤
Thank you so much 😀
🔥
The painting is so cute. I love the movement and moment you captured
Thank you! That means a lot! The movement was something I focused on. 😄
This looks like a funny illustration in a children's book. Seriously I could imagine the duck saying "Mr. Turtle, why are you so slow? Why can't you just fly like me?" Wonder what the turtle's response would be 😂
I love that! I didn’t think of it like a children’s book but now that you said it I can totally see them having this conversation. 😃
great painting! you have a lot of talent🔥
You are so sweet to say that! ❤️ much appreciated!
You are a incredible artist ❤
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
@@TracyLizotteStudios you are so welcome I can't wait to see more paintings

Wish I had such a talent!
This video needs more views because it is amazing!
Yah! You are the best! 🤗 ♥️
Love, love,love! ❤
Thank you so much! ♥️
So cute!
Thank you!
Why do you add an R to idea? You sound American. Isn't saying "idear" an Australian thing?
It's my Maine Accent. I can't help it. I try!
That's a big fuckin chicken
