    One thing i have heard for years is if you pack it learn how to use it. I have a little stove that uses sterno but i believe can use sticks for fuel I will have to look that up. I did use it back in 2022, it is now 2024, and it worked great. Also someone else put a bowl in their pack along with eating utensils and a big spoon becaise they had more food and for a large family

      @homelifewithlauren Місяць тому

      That would be a lot of modifications to the original recipe, so I can’t say if it would turn out or not. However, eggs are what make the creamy-custard texture. Crème brûlée is essentially a baked custard. This would not work well in a springform pan, but you could make 1 larger creme brûlée in a round casserole dish. You would need to bake it longer though. You may have to do some google research to find out the correct baking time for something like that.

    Can I ask a stupid question?: What exactly are you prepping for? Zombie apologize, "end of days"/ rapture, nuclear winter, roaming bands of "not our kind, dear"? I know America has a long history of "utopian" and Doomsday cults, but what's the long term plan here?

    • @homelifewithlauren
      @homelifewithlauren 3 місяці тому

      My dad always told me there was no such thing as a stupid question ;) Prepping for life. We regularly use our buckets of oats, beans, rice, wheat. I make a lot of things from scratch that are cheaper to buy in bulk and they last longer in the buckets. Also, you never know when a spouse could lose a job, there could be some sort of physical disablement or heaven forbid another virus situation. Whatever the case, I can feed my family, which is a huge stress-relief. You don't have to agree; that's ok. This is what I feel is best for me.

I suggest to test all of your supplies when there is no emergency (a fun, safe camp night without electricity), so you know how to use everything - what methods work & don’t work. Also test-walk your backpacks around the block - is it too heavy? A bag that weighs 20% of your body weight is ideal. 👍🏼

    I didn't see you mention a flashlight and batteries (store batteries separately in case they leak). Be sure to get an LED flashlight, even a cheap LED flashlight will be brighter and last longer than an old incandescent style flashlight. I'd also recommend an emergency crank radio/flashlight (although the flashlight is usually poor). Even a pocket radio (with batteries stored separately) should last at least 72 hours. Also carry $50 or more in small bills (ones and fives) and change in case you need to buy something. Credit machines will probably not be working. In my experience cheap pocket knives are crap. Either get a decent, inexpensive knife (folding or not) or multitool. The cheapest, commonly available Mora knife from Amazon is a thousand times better a dollar store pocket knife.

    i don't know why people choose to live in a land where you feel you need to prep incase of missiles attacks and so on. the earth is big just make a plan and move. the reality is this isn't the movies there will be no time to escape or do much. many peppers i think are people who suffer from excessive anxiety and worry about the future events they have no control over. i do believe one should be prepared for certain things but to live like this is to my opinion a waste of money. like a guy who has 100 guns in his home hidden behind walls and he's making bunkers and all that. this is all from watching too much movies. these bunkers won't even save you from a powerful tornado let alone a nuclear weapon.

    • @homelifewithlauren
      @homelifewithlauren Рік тому

      A missile attack is not the motivation to have a long-term good storage )at least not for me). This is about being prepared for anything; lost job, inflation, a natural disaster, etc. it’s like a savings account only with food.

      We are fortunate to live in a land where we are free and able to prepare for emergencies. Supplies are rotated throughout our lives so nothing is "wasted." Most of us are stable and most situations don't require us to leave our resources. The reality is that we have little anxiety and even less worry over future events because we prepare for these events in a mature, intelligent & reasonable manner.

    • @BigBroSadiq
      @BigBroSadiq Рік тому

      @@sandrataylor8966 no matter how much a person prepares or readies themselves for something there are many things that you just can't prepare for like getting cancer, or covid something rich people with an abundance of resources and best doctors died from. I think this hoarding of food and or money makes a person feel safer mentally but in reality it's excessive. like a man with a 100s of guns in his home despite him having only 2 hands. better to go and feed poor people with this than to stock loads and loads of food in your home for yourself and your family preparing for the unknown. on the other note what will you do if your forced to evacuate your homes can't carry loads of food with you? another thing preppers don't think about. i do agree in saving food and or money incase of emergency but stocking up like a Walmart with a basement or garage full of food is excessive. im entitled to my opinion. you are as well. the reality is your living in a land with nuclear weapons pointed at you right now from various countries and given this current situation that can become a reality for you which I pray doesn't. your land is my land too the difference is I chose to leave. im an American born and raised in America and trust me there's nothing amazing about it besides the lies people are told everyday on the news. everyone tries to brag about being from there really im ashamed we are the only people in the world just about who have the fattest population, who only know one language, and work over 40 hours a week or 2 jobs to survive. so what are you bragging about? everyone's stressed out studies show most Americans don't have any real savings, rent is high mass shootings crime, gang violence open prostitution, racism abundance of rapes child abduction and drugged out zombies are now sleeping on million dollar properties everywhere due to drugs. so save the talk about where your from.

      TV shows about “ preppers” magnify strange behaviors for ratings so I agree with you about some of those examples. The truth is, we have medical insurance, home insurance, car insurance and hopefully some savings in the bank..and for what. Things we can’t foresee but know will happen. Exactly how and what will happen we don’t always know but being prepared in these examples is clearly a wise decision. Emergency preparedness is no different, just focused on another category of basic human needs for survival. There will always be the commando type fantasy people in the preparedness world but it is the minority in reality compared to young ladies like this ( don’t know her, video just popped up in my feed) that are just normal people taking responsibility to ensure her families safety and ability to survive the unknown. As far as having to flee your house it could happen, but as an old first responder that worked many real life critical incidents in my career , that isn’t reality in many situations you will likely encounter. Things like wild land fires, earthquakes, contaminated water supply, mud slides on roadways stopping food shipments from grocery stores, drought and subsequent food shortages, train crashes, pandemics, personal tragedy ( job loss, illness, injury) weather events, are just some real life scenarios I’ve worked with and the people that prepared were self sufficient vs those waiting and relying on the gov nipple for there families survival. seeing all the store shelves completely emptied in 2020 should be a wake up call to the fragility of relying on a just in time delivery system for your survival. Had that gone on another week or two we would’ve seen a much bigger problem many can’t imagine. Hope this helps somehow. Best of luck @@BigBroSadiq

      Hi Crystal! You do actually!! You just may not have known about them. Email me: lauren@homelifewithlauren.com and I’ll send you a link to multiple in your state. Also, I’m putting together a pdf to link to this video with discount grocery stores all over the country. I’ll be posting it on IG as well. Feel free to follow me there too 💜
