Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan is currently the Director of Centre for Intelligent Systems and Networks Research (CISNR), and National Centre of AI(NCAI), and Tenured TTS professor at the Electrical Engineering Department UET Peshawar. He has PhD in intelligent System design from the University of York, UK. He is the pioneer of Cartesian Genetic Programming evolved Developmental network (CGPDN), 5th Generation AI systems.
He has introduced the concept of photo billing in the energy sector in Pakistan to cater for under/overbilling anomalies and provide an efficient and transparent mechanism for metering data collection. He has introduced Electrocure-Meterless smart metering concept to provide low-cost smart metering in developing countries for efficient low-carbon smart metering and reduction of administrative, technical, and commercial losses with the ability of theft control. He has contributed to over 8 SDGs during his career, highlighting Climate Change, Energy, Water, Sustainable cities, No poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being and quality education.
In the last two decades, he has obtained research funding of more than 2.5 billion, completed 21 research projects with 5 in progress. The has supervised four PhD and 15 MS researchers and two PhDs and 5 MS in progress. He has published a book with springer titled: “Evolution of Artificial Neural Development: In search of learning genes” as a sole author. He has arranged 8 national conferences and one international conference and is on the program committee member of more than ten international conferences. His h-index is 22 and i-10 index is 51 in last 15 years. He won the research productivity award in the year 2018. Two of his publications were nominated for best paper award in Rank-1 Computer science conference (Gecco).
