What often happens is - big trucks fill up with diesel - brim the tank, and then when they negotiate roundabouts centrifugal force causes some diesel to spill out onto the road. Diesel on the road is like black ice. I rode motorcycles for years and always took this into account when riding, especially in the wet where spilled diesel is invisible.

Oof sorry to hear this has happened to you. At least all safe and you will probably find a even better car coming out of this. Don't get too worried about NCB as when I was getting insurance quotes for my first car after three years not driving (my first car was rear ended non-fault also) I tried inputting theoretical values if I did still have NCB versus not and it made less than £100 a year difference

Z4 isn't a bad choice, I just have no experience with them. The Z3 is a wild ride though and fairly reliable. If you can put up with BMW maintenance, this isn't a bad pick. MR2s are my pick, but in the states they are INCREDIBLY expensive so I went last gen Celica GT-S myself, incredible daily.
