Village Style Hung Gar: Number One Staff (乡村式老洪拳:第一棍)
About the art:
This system is one of the many Hung Gar systems taught by Hung Hei-Gun or Hong Xiguan (1745-1825) and his fellow classmates as they dispersed and escaped from the burning of the South Shaolin Temple during the Qing Dynasty.
Systems collectively known as Village Styles Hung Gar is not the same as the more famous Hung Gar system of Wong Fei-Hung (黄飞鸿) who taught at the Poh Chi Lam Clinic (宝芝林) in Fut San City (佛山) , China.
Sigung Wong Kwong-Hoong (黄冠雄) learned one of these systems from his fighting compatriots during his campaign for independence of Malaya against the British in the 1950s. After independence, he left the jungles and was rehabilitated. He later earned a living as a traditional Chinese doctor as well as teaching this art. Sigung Wong Kwong-Hoong later joined the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia 民政党) which was a member of the ruling coalition of the country from the 1970s.
He was invited to teach in TAR College, Setapak in the early 1970s. He taught quite a number of students. One of them is Sifu Ng Huck-Hai (黄学海) who took over his class later. Sifu James Lee PK learned this art from the latter during his college days.
These are pictures of Sigung Wong Kwong-Hoong's yesteryears which show the self-defence system he picked up in the jungles of old Malaya & his early students.
At present, there are no others left to perpetuate his style of fighting. Sifu James hopes to teach what he can remember of this style to others if the opportunity arises.

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dashing eyebrows, pouring water ??? That is the correct translation?
Interesting,!!!! I never know Hung Fist got sanchin too
If Village Style is formed due to the surrounding back then, is there a Style that formed fit for city/urban area?
Please forgive me for this simplistic reply. 🙏🏼🙇🏻♂️🙏🏼 Talking about a city art and although not meant to be one specifically, Wong Fei Hung's Hung Gar evolved and was developed in the city of Futsan. Hence, in general terms, one tends to associate it as a city based art (although it's not necessarily 100 percent the case). But some other arts with similar connection to the Southern Shaolin influenced temple(s) do use other descriptions to identify themselves. Within our small local Malaysian context, in order not to be confused with the more well known system(s), we used the term Malaysian Village Style Old Hung Gar, as this art made its way through the Southern Chinese countryside before setting foot in Old Malaya. 😊
bull
Have you tried Shooting Star for Hung Gar?
No. 😊
amazing form~~ !!
There is a great Book for adding Shooting Star to Hung Gar
Very very nice
Very unique form, and rare
TMA is all about patience . If you care only about becoming fighter/ champions , just go MMA or any combat sport . TMA still has a lot of room to improve .
Nice😊👍
I keep hearing, "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting..."
Some weak performance. This man was even no able to have a good balance, let me not begin about his "punched".
I see same same Pak Mei Kungfu. Doesn't it?
Can you, please, slow it down and show it from different angles so I can learn it. I have no Hung Gar schools withing 100 miles of my town.
Is there a way to contact this sifu?
facebook.com/profile.php?id=100074292203060, he only speaks Chinese or Cantonese
This is from the book about the 1950's Hong Kong Street Fighting Style of Snake, Cat, & Crane?
I like this style. Thank you as I have never seen it before.
Please more videos of this style
More like a clown
Awesome
Malaysia and Indonesia; must be one of the many News emerging East-Asian Nations in the Continuum of excellence in Martial Arts..... Monkey Fist is mesmerising to Watch!
Hung Tao Choy Mei, czyli to Chow Gar?
It was mentioned by Wushu Quest that this style is also called Cai Jia Quan. Is it the same as the Choy Gar of Choy Lei Fut?
Yes and no 😊 both come from the same founding master, however throughout the decades, the Cantonese lineage became very different from the original Fujian lineage I show in this video.
👏👏👏👍👍👍🎊🎉🧨
I love the diversity of Kung Fu on this channel and we get to see the progression.
🔥 🔥 🔥
👏👏👏
Hey i was compiling my journal about martial arts do you have something to share about Wonhwa-do and DR. seuk
We have Won Hwa Do in mind. We will make some videos about the art later.
simply amazing
👏👏👏👍👍👍🎊🎉
👏👏👏👍👍👍🎊🎉
Crane jing. ⚡️ Mahalo (thanks) for the clean demo.
WTF. I've done better choreography. This 'teacher' has nothing.
Chop Koon Do is a nice mix of Karate and Choy Liu Fut
Very valuable knowledge and wisdom from Southern KungFu. Thank you for teaching us.
You also clinch your teeth when fighting so you don’t get hit and bite your own tongue. The step and lift leg is also to uproot their foot without occupying your hands.
Excellent form! Direct/straight to the point! Get proficient with this form and what other staff firm would one need fir personal self defense.
Groin strikes!
Is there an internal system or is all external?
A very lazy performance. Show no passion/feeling in his movements. Stances too narrow and not stable, strikes no aim or power.
lol
Like the weapon form there 😊👍
good stuff!
