Scott Zane Trucking Clips
United States
Приєднався 10 чер 2023
This channel is specifically focused on clips of things I see and/or experience while trucking around the United States. Some are just my reactions to anything and everything within eyeshot of me. Others may have educational info or have info that is meant to give outsiders to the trucking industry an idea of what kind of thoughts go through a trucker's head - like things we really appreciate or which irritate us or otherwise just cause us to shake our heads and laugh at, among others. Many of the clips are my - often animated - reactions to the actions of others. However, some clips may even be difficult situations that I encountered myself and may have even learned something from myself that could make me a better driver too.

#trucking #truckerlife #dashcamvideos #rogers #arkansas Old school truckers get taught to use the right-most lane when there are multiple turn lanes. The "logic" is that they are trying to protect their blind side (passenger side) to keep 4-wheeler traffic from being able to get into that space. The problem is, you can't complete turns at most intersections with such a setup without encroaching...

You're lucky the lane cleared without those infernal dumb short-stoppers that always seem to be everywhere.
It's infuriating seeing stuff like this. I don't even drive anything you'd need a CDL for, just box trucks and trailers for a landscaping/horticulture company, but I've always been taught to take the outermost lanes with multiple turn lanes. Lord knows I've seen pickups with trailers get next to me in a double turn lane and they've gotta jump a curb or median to make the turn but a semi trying it? Just pure ignorance.
Penske wasn't on know radio, no way!
Thank you for sharing. 👍
Your audio sucks... Thumb down
it is eat or be eaten when it comes to ex wives and lawyers
Meet up the great work .
I like this channel! I think you’re a great driver!
The middle lane is the travel lane when there is 3 or more lanes that is what regs say
Not true. In fact, you can get ticketed for doing exactly that in California. If it's 3 lanes, their law is stay in the right lane except to pass. 4+ lanes, we stay in the 2 right-most lanes. Either way, if trucks cannot legally pass you on the left due to truck lane restriction, you shouldn't be in the lane that you're in, or you should at least be courteous enough to move right, let the faster truck pass, then move back over afterward.
It's different for semis because most interstates prohibit trucks from being in the left most lane. It's just general courtesy regardless of what the regs are anyway.
@@southrnlines8043 Sadly, courtesy is a thing of the past, for much of trucking. Not enough of it gets taught to new truckers.
Love your videos! You guys are unsung heroes in this country.
You see, not clearing the passing lane quickly has issues...if I am next to a truck in the left lane, I hit the gas and go around him as quick as possible. Of course, I was pulled over by TX State Patrol for doing this, going 3 miles over the limit...I was driving a rented mini-van on I-40 near Amarillo, and had a few weed vape pens after visiting my old AF buddy in Colorado Springs...that cost me 20 grand, weed vape pens are an auto felony in TX. So, by trying to clear the left lane, with some weed, only going 3 miles over, I was still fucked. Anyway, US highway laws/training need massive improvement. After paying all that money for fines and a lawyer, the charges were dropped...maybe we should incentivize drivers clearing the passing lane, instead of what happened to me.
The people leaving comments here are exactly the people they warn you about in driving school, people who know nothing about operating these rigs and think they can be controlled like a 4 wheeler
Talking real tough in the truck.
First parallel parking I've ever seen, awesome!
🥱
Relax!
He is relaxed. He's got good points: the pickup that was merging should have sped up or slowed down, but matched speed and forced the truck to move over for him. Then you've got the other truck trying to overtake but merge back in going at a slower speed--why bother overtaking if you're not going to go faster??
I went back through this video to figure out what you're talking about. I'm really scratching my head at this one. I'd expect this kind of comment in some of my other clips compilations, but I saw nothing in this one that seems to really warrant that kind of reaction from viewers. If you think this is much, then definitely stay away from many of my other videos. Like @addanametocontinue said, I'm very relaxed overall in this one, from start to finish. Maybe try to understand that the primary purpose of this channel is to educate other drivers about what things they do to make myself and other truckers love and hate them...with some "entertaining" reactions added in.
Stop being a Karen and operate with your mouth shut. You're showing what an 'expert' you are. What a rookie.
Not a rookie, and you should take your own advice. You don't even know that what you see here is the entire purpose of this channel. Since you want to make ignorant assumptions, I'll make one of my own. You're probably one of those dumb "veteran" truckers who thinks they know more than they really know. I've seen plenty of them around. They have all of this "because that's how I was trained" knowledge, but don't have a clue why they were trained that way, or their logic is utterly stupid.

80 views and just 2 likes as of this moment, after 24 hours posting. At least 1 thumb down and here's why: You complain too much. The entire video has a negative tone, people won't like or engage that or watch your channel ever again. #EpicFail
I have a number of others with 4 and 5 digit views. I really don't care who likes, dislikes or does nothing with my videos. You also won't see me begging people to hit the like button or subscribe to my channel either, like most UA-camrs do. The whole reason I even created this side channel is because some people from my main channel find my reactions entertaining, and also because people I know from outside the trucking community frequently ask me what things the general motoring public does to piss us truckers off, or what they can do to be more courteous to us. The channel's purpose is part education and part entertainment. Not everybody is entertained by the same kind of content. How many women do you know who love to watch Lifetime movies or those "Real Housewives" shows? I personally hate them. To each their own. If my channel isn't your cup of tea, it won't hurt my feelings if you never come back.
And there you have it. Over 1000 views on this video now, for my small channel of only 225 subs, plus 10 comments (not including this one).
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj LOL still only TEN likes. You can begin playing the video and refresh the page 1000 times to boost the view count by 1000, so that means nothing. The proof is in the # of individual likes, which you cannot alter with a single account. Your numbers are all out of whack, which really suggests shenanigans to get the view count up. Try to understand that your negativity isn't popular, else you'd have dozens of likes per 10000 views. Keep making negative videos though, it's your right, but your channel will not be popular.
@@HapiestLitttlePlaceInTheGalaxy I don't do this to be UA-cam famous. I really don't give a shit who my channels attract or how many of them hit the "like" button. I also have too many other things to occupy my time than to waste it hitting refresh button on my own videos that I've already reviewed before even uploading them. Feel free to keep dreaming up more BS "conspiracy theory" scenarios to justify your opinion. If you want to keep entertaining me with your crazy ideas, have at. And hitting the refresh button that many times in that short a time frame could also get you flagged by the server for attempting a DoS attack. Otherwise, feel free to stop watching my channel, if the content doesn't interest you. Just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean it interests nobody. 43 of my now 226 subs were gained within the last 28 days, so the content evidently interests some people. Since you care so much about my channel's stats: 4% of my channel's views are from subs, which is in the same ballpark of what I've seen other "dashcam" related channels report. 97% of all views are from men, and 84% of them are from people age 45+. Evidently, men in my age group and higher have the most interest in my content. Regardless, I post what I want to post and how I want to post it. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all, if most people aren't interested in this type of content.
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj I already stopped watching after the first video, like so many others have and will. Gloating about your 1000+ views that had just 10 likes speaks volumes about how shitty the content is, but you’re too naive to realize that was my point. If you’re not here for the audience why waste time posting, after all you have way better things to occupy yourself with.
Why isnt there a backup camera on the rear of the trailer? Seems like that could help in backing into docks and parking. I know they exist for cars with remote rear cameras but why hasnt anyone installed one even temporarily on a trailer?
Everything would have to be universal to be compatible with all the different cameras, dash cams and video formats. If the trailer was a permanent attachment to the cab this could be done, but they're not.
@@HapiestLitttlePlaceInTheGalaxy I can place my backup cam on the back by just sticking it on with suction cup to make the backup then remove it. What im saying is use it temperately just to get into the dock then remove it. Wouldnt that make backing up easier especially blind backing?
Not necessarily. There are angles that you also need to remain aware of, and how those angles impact the trailer's roll and rotate tendencies. Also, the trailer axles are the rolling fulcrum, and it's important to know where exactly they (the tandems) are in relation to the target location. A camera mounted to the back of the trailer can't show you that. Also, the big concern with truck-trailer backing is ensuring the corner of the trailer that is on the outside of the off-track isn't going to contact other vehicles or objects. If you're going to use a portable camera at all, it would be best to mount it such that it's on the outside of the turn. Even then, it's not a good replacement for GOALing (getting out and looking).
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj Yeah your probably right trucks backing up never hit parked trucks in the next space. Good point so any insurance agencies reading this donot allow any parking space accidents. Deny it 100% because it just does not happen.

Retired long haul driver myself, that's what i liked about hauling doubles and trip's ( aka) " wiggle wagons" ..just sway that back wagon and ppl stay a ways away from ya 😂😂
For a real good time with wiggle wagons, I have a clip on my main channel of an On-Trac driver pulling Rocky Mountain doubles. I was parked in the fuel island and had literally just finished fueling my truck at the Flying J in Fernley, NV. On-Trac was in the lane to my left and pulling away at no more than 5mph or so. While making his left turn to leave, his rear trailer tried to overturn for some odd reason. He was observant enough to notice it and stopped right away. Meanwhile, I prepared to backup quickly, because the back of his rear trailer was still in striking range of the hood of my truck. He was able to correct it after that. I'm guessing his dolly had something to do with it, but I'm not certain. I'll reply with a link to it in a few. Maybe you can share your thoughts on how exactly it happened.
ua-cam.com/video/QlXLm9Nm3r4/v-deo.html here you go. Check it out and let me know what you think please.
The old joke was a license out of a Cracker Jack Box as the prize.
Yep! Oddly, the first time I ever heard that was while serving as an empaneled juror in a vehicular manslaughter case. A couple of the other jurors were truck drivers, and one of them used exactly that line during deliberations. That was years before I got my CDL. I still hear it regularly today.
Pretty intense hail storm, sheesh.
You have to remember some people may have really got their drivers license at a Kmart or Walmart!
Sounds like you are a little testy girl and listening to teeny bopper music. My advice for you is to do something different
My advice for you is to mind your business and move along to another channel, if you don't like what you see or hear here. As for my music tastes, I listen to a lot more than what you heard in this compilation. It must be sad to have your taste in music limited only to country, rock, or whatever it is you prefer yourself. Do you also eat nothing but the same type of food every day, and live only among people of the same ethnicity and mindset as you?
I would say that 95% of traffic "compromises" are due to driver distractions (i.e. phone/digital) which should be treated as a more serious offense such as a DUI.
are these people hearing you NO i use to do the same thing as you driving a truck cussing God raising cane swearing at everything let me tell you something it does not help you think it does but it don't when you put this video up you ought to have known you was going to get some feed back all i'm saying is relax pray to God instead of cussing him and just chill and enjoy your life on the road you don't know might be your last i know you will fuss at me but trust me you will not be in so much misery try and have a good and safe day please
I appreciate your concern, and I'm not going to say you don't have a valid point. On the other hand, the whole reason why I started this second channel was because I often get asked by friends and family who aren't truckers about the things we deal with regularly that drive us crazy. I may also add more of the situations where I or somebody else did something courteous that merits praise in future videos. Anybody watching my channel should definitely be watching with two things in mind: (1)entertainment, and (2)what can they learn from my channel that they might not realize they could be contributing to themselves.
Been to that Walmart DC in NC couple times, every time I was there it was completely dead, mostly on sundays and it was a drop and hook so in n out in 30 mins.
Definatly picking the best spot there. But I as a fellow truckdriver never got, how the FUCK someone can reverse while hanging out of the window. Seriously, I cant do that. Mirrors, I can go all around the place - out the window. Nope. I also cant reverse my own car with or without a trailer on it, other than the mirrors. :) But I get you, if youre feeling pissed on people that cant figure out how to merge. And/or block you.
It's really best not to rely on the mirrors until you're already straightened out. Mirrors can distort your impression of angles. A good example of this: try blindsiding and rotating the right flat mirror as far out as you can go, and let the trailer off-track to the point where you can see the corner of the trailer with the mirror rotated all the way out. It will appear, in the mirror, that your trailer is only off-tracking maybe 20-30 degrees, but in reality might be closer to 60 degrees...which means it will rotate a lot faster and roll a lot less than you might expect it to. Also, my son and I ran into a safety concern with a driver who was relying only on his mirrors to back up from the fuel island lane he was originally behind. This was at the Love's in Santa Rosa, NM. We were walking back to my truck from the store and were walking alongside this guy's truck and toward the back of his trailer when I heard his backup beeper activate. I stopped to attempt to get eye contact from him and see what exactly he was trying to do. He never even looked out his window. He had no clue that we were even there before he started backing up. He finally bothered to look out the window and notice that we were there at least 5-10 seconds after he'd already started to back up. I could tell that he was looking only through his mirrors and not clearing the blind spots that his mirrors couldn't see. To make it worse, he had his window all the way up, so he wouldn't have been able to hear me yelling, even if I'd actually tried to do so.
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj Well, I just learned it that way. And in ten years, I havent hit anything or anyone.
Good blind side back. Most of these newer drivers can't back at all.
it's rich hearing a trucker talk about brain cells. One of the laziest, easiest jobs for people that couldn't handle 5th grade.
I'm retired military, have a college degree and work 6-7 days/week and 10+hrs per day. I also weigh about the same now as I did when I first got my CDL - even without a thyroid. But yeah, I must be lazy, right?
J.C.T. company, I pass by their terminal frequently. Sapulpa or kellyville.
They make medications for the conditions witnessed 😂
Would you rather get somebody who isn't afraid to let you know what they think of you, or somebody who is zombied out on drugs and isn't really themselves?
Wow.. nothing to complain about at all. Just normal driving. Maybe he will be fired.
You're probably one of the careless drivers I rant about, so consider the source. This gets posted for entertainment. I have a clean accident record and don't cause crashes either. I'm not going to call myself a perfect driver, nor should anybody ever. Feel free to stop watching my content, if you don't like the way I present things.
Good thing you stayed away from Jacksonville, its all tore up and will be under construction for next few years.
You still with jct scott✌️
Sort of. My truck still says JCT on it, but we got acquired by Hirschbach and my truck will be getting rebadged to Hirschbach next time I stop at one of the HML terminals.
Scott, how long have you been driving?
CDL: 8+ years Any kind of license: 34 years
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj I’ve only been driving a few more years than you (11 CDL, 48 total), but was going to suggest that you try positioning yourself closer to the steering wheel such that you can put your hands on the top left and right of the steering wheel and rest your forearms on it. That will give you added control of steering in case you blow a steer tire or if the wheel is jerked left or right by an unforeseen rut in the road surface. Plus, it’s less tiring over longer drives. Be safe with whatever you decide!
@@mumblesbadly7708 I'm tall, so sitting closer to the steering wheel costs me precious leg room. I'd rather not have my knees buried in the dash. As long as you can involve forearms, I can see why you'd suggest that though. Without forearms, I think 9-3 position is best for maintaining and/or regaining control. 11-1 and 10-2 create more risk of over-correcting in out-of-control situations, in my opinion. I agree that we should always be wary of the possibility of a steer tire blowout at any moment though.
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xj I’m 6’2” and have to admit that my knees are super close to the air release knobs. But I’ve found the sweet spot as close to the wheel as possible without my knees hitting them it now feels odd when my seat if further back. In any event, be safe out there.
Been trucking for 20 years and I hate drivers like you. Calm your ass down and stop acting like an entitled prick and go around. YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER. ACT LIKE IT. And No I don't hang around in the left lane.

Thanks for the big compliment. This is actually a fairly new "side channel" that I created just for this content so I can keep it separated from the trucking vlogs that I normally post on my main channel. I started this channel only after getting the idea from regular viewers on my main channel saying that my reactions to things entertain them. I also created it because I often get asked by non-trucking friends and family what things the general motoring public does regularly to piss off truckers, or what they can do to around trucks that truckers will thank them for. The channel seems to be growing at a reasonable pace, thus far. Lately, I've been noticing that every time I check in or upload new content, the sub count has gone up a bit. I'll be sure to keep uploading content.
The standard greeting made me laugh!

And? I'm an American adult and am retired military. If you expect church-friendly language, you won't find it here. Your options are to stop watching my channel, or just watch with audio muted. Who sets the standards on what words are "bad" and what words are "good" anyway?
At 4:05 why didn't you move to the left lane, there were no vehicles in your mirror?
I actually tried to, but there was a speeding car coming up from behind me that was doing at least 15-20mph faster than me, if not more. That car moved left right at the same moment I was beginning to signal my desire to move left. The speeder created a difficult situation for everybody. I signaled and even started to move left before abandoning the attempt after seeing what the speeder was doing. Meanwhile, I think the on-ramp driver saw me starting to move left, then he probably assumed that all was good for him to leisurely merge. But he wasn't paying enough attention to realize I couldn't move left without creating a hazardous situation between myself and the speeder. The speeder finally backed out after realizing the shit situation they created, but it was too late. By then, I had to keep 100% of my attention on the on-ramp driver and didn't realize until it was too late that the speeder had backed off in an attempt to create space for me to come over. I hate dealing with on-ramp traffic more than anything. They are EXTREMELY UNPREDICTABLE. I can anticipate the driver(s) doing one thing, then almost always find out the hard way they end up doing something totally different.
You could have moved over for the merge car. Idiot.
Yeah tell um scott✌️
Normal trucking shit. You need a thick skin to put up with it. For any of you future "supertruckers" out there, take the time to talk to someone who has done it for awhile...and ilsten.
I pulled my very large RV into that "weird truck stop" a couple of days ago. If you have a large truck or RV, stay in the left three lanes or you won't be able to make the turn out. When I pulled in, there were two asses pulling boats that had left their rigs at the pumps while they went inside shopping.
I was able to leave the pump I pulled up to without any issues, but it was tight.
I thought about being a truck driver man, but after being in the Air Force in Europe for many years, getting used to the discipline of drivers over there about lane etiquette, merging, always passing on the right, spacing, etc...I already fume so hard driving in America on 4 wheels, if I had your job I would lose my shit every day, all the time. Thank you for your service!
Yours too. Where were you stationed at in Europe? You mentioned always passing on the right, which makes me think UK. I know we have or did have bases at Mildenhall, Lakenheath, Alconbury, and maybe some others. I spent a fair amount of my active duty time at Aviano AB, but Italians drive on the right side of the road and always pass on the left.
@@ScottZaneTruckingClips-ht3xjI was at Mildenhall for many years, Ramstein too. Sounds like you served as well. I was CES. I just loved driving in Europe, they are so much more disciplined when it comes to driving and I got used to it, I often fume while driving here in America because I know how it could be. Anyway, keep on trucking down the road sir, it's an important job!
@MarkMcAllister-ni9sf yes sir, I was also Air Force. I was a crew chief. I retired from the AFRC side in 2015, but did AD time at Davis-Monthan first, then spend the rest of my career at March. I went through Moldy Hole a few times, as well as flew through London on commercial flights.
