On the base to final, you get a good view of a container ship that foundered and spilled about 4000 automobiles into the water, it's currently being cut apart and removed. My lading was a little different from usual; I kept power in and dragged it down in a shallow approach, so I could precisely manage the sink rate and make sure to land right on the numbers. Thanks, but it's not really amazing airmanship... just speed and glide path management. That's what I was saying on Spudknocker's video -- It's much easier to come in fast at a shallow descent angle and "fly it on" to the runway, but you end up using all the available runway and that doesn't leave many options if something goes wrong. For example if you have a brake failure you end up either having to go full power and take back off again (if you can), or overrun the end of the runway.

    Hello - I've owned a 172 and a 182. Just flew a CTSW last week for the first time. Loved it. Put an offer on an '07 today and I am selling the 182. How did it fly with the doors off? That sounds ideal on a nice day. What does flight design say? From what I understood it is done all the time overseas but they do not mention it any longer here. How about wind noise on your headset mic? Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

      Hey David. The mount is a Ram mount 1" ball attached to the side of the instrument panel "mushroom", with an aluminum backing plate inside. Then there is a 6" Ram arm connected to a Ram iPad cradle. I'm using the iPad Air 2, some guys like the smaller iPad Mini units better. Interesting, but I think the other one looked better with the rudder out of the view, if you could bring the camera forward some so that one can't see the side of the rudder it would be perfect.

  • @keithseymour5292
    @keithseymour5292 10 років тому

    That's a good plan. I always land uphill and takeoff downhill at peachstate. It has to be a very strong wind for me to do the opposite. Great place but with my underpowered plane I need to use the slope of the field to my advantage.

  • @GoPro._Musica
    @GoPro._Musica 10 років тому

    Really like this camera placement view, could you do another one around 10 minutes long just like this, it would be awesome. Also, how did you mount the camera onto the airplane tail?

    • @MrMorden00
      @MrMorden00 10 років тому

      I love putting the camera there, but there is a huge problem with camera shake. I can mostly fix it with anti-shake filters, but that then leads to the effect in this video where it seems like the camera is detached from the airplane and "floating." I will do more like this soon, but I'm trying to find a better mounting system. Currently I'm using the GoPro high-speed suction mount. It works great in some places like under the wing or on the belly, but seems to get a lot of wind action on the tail.

    • @GoPro._Musica
      @GoPro._Musica 10 років тому

      If you place it directly on the tail fuselage it shouldn't be too bad. But of course, I don't mind a little camera shake, I know that it's pretty much impossible to not have any without a special homemade camera mount. For a plane I don't mind a little bit of wind buffering since one has to expect some with a airplane. To me, the camera position and the experience is a ton bit better. If the camera is placed just about on the tail fuselage probably in the center area of the tail the video will be really interesting and exciting.

    • @GoPro._Musica
      @GoPro._Musica 10 років тому

      Also, you should do the video without youtube stabilize operation, all that does is mess up the video and make it look like sometimes the camera is detached and floating. Shake itself isn't too much of a problem as long as the video is a awesome camera mounting position.

    • @GoPro._Musica
      @GoPro._Musica 10 років тому

      ....I also thought this video was quite awesome and I'd love to see a longer one, it really created the illusion that you were flying with the airplane.

    • @GoPro._Musica
      @GoPro._Musica 9 років тому

      +MrMorden00 Have to say though, the way the camera seems to move it almost looks as if the viewer is actually riding on the airplane holding a camera. Really do love these style video's, especially when they're low enough and I would love to see another video just like this with this same viewpoint. Perhaps make it longer, maybe around 10 minutes long. Also, about this video, do you have the original version with the entire flight, that's if the camera was recording ever since take off until finally the final landing. If there was a video of the entire flight, I'd love to see the full original video, without starting from the middle.
