OzTrail Deluxe 3.0 Gazebo V4 review and setup guide - opening fresh after delivery.
Переглядів 14 тис.2 роки тому
Today I'm reviewing the OzTrail 3.0 Deluxe Gazebo (aka a pop up canopy). I'm recording this video while I open it for the first time, and I have to say I'm impressed. It has all the quality components that you expect from OzTrail, but the standout feature is the anti-pooling struts (branded hydroflow). In this video I also walk through a single person setup, which would obviously be a heap quic...

Staking a tent in sand - why it's worth investing in a sand specific stake/peg.
Переглядів 2,9 тис.2 роки тому
It's important to have your canopy secured properly at the beach, and that starts with choosing the right stakes. Staking a tent in sand requires sand peg/stakes that have good surface area and are of decent length. The sand pegs that came with your pop up canopy are probably not going to help you in the sand, instead they'll probably pull straight out at the first sign of wind. In this video s...

    I first watched how you took down your canopy, I was keen to know how to fold the canopy top. I did pretty much see how you did that so was gonna make it that I was good to go, then I saw this suggestion at the end of that video. I note that despite 3,800 views, no-one said thanks for showing us how to do this. I am happy to be the first, I hope you get a few more also, it also helps with the algorithm gods. Many thanks from South Yorkshire in England for getting me out of my minor dilemma.

    How much weight do you recommend? The method here seems prone to the whole canopy being lifted vertically by winds as the straps have no horizontal anchor points to the frame.

    Escape Domain: Thanks for the video. I think it would have been more effective for you demonstrate the use of the pool noodle tip in a corner that didn't already have the anti-ponding mechanism. As it is, in your demonstration it would have made more sense to put the noodle above the mechanism to demonstrate tension, regardless, combining them on the same corner can be confusing for many viewers.

    • @escapedomain
      @escapedomain Рік тому

      Hi Violet, appreciate the feedback, yes would have been ideal to not have the mechanism there in the way.

    I have a gazebo with garment holes and plenty of pool noodles on hand...not sure this will work my structure but , I'll give this a try. I finally resolved the problem last year by pulling the canvas tight in the pooling areas and placing clamps to the outside to keep it tight. Worked perfectly even through the Florida thunderstorms .

    I bought an Oztrail deluxe a few years ago only putting it up for the first time now. I found it excessively easy one person but didn't do it like others do to get the top part up. Oztrail might squirm a tad when I say I'm going to use mine as an insect excluder for my summer vegetables swapping the top for woven ant-insect net - and sides naturally.

    You can also simply tie string or wire around the mid-point of the 4 canopy “rafters” directly below the mid section joints. Pulled taut it prevents pooling in addition to giving some extra rigidity to the roof.

    I feel like this would be quite hard to do on gravel which is how I’ll have to solo set up my canopy. With grass you can somewhat dig into the soil from the side you’re not holding to keep it in place while you pull the other side and it provides grip. On gravel or pavement it’s just going to move with you.
