My 2024 EDC Gear - What’s in my Sling bag? (Under 6 Minutes) #EDC2024 #everydaycarryknife #edc
Back when i was in Bat. I carried a coldsteel recon tanto. I bought it at ranger joes outside FtBenning. It was a camillus coldsteel back when they were made in America. Interesting knives wouldn't be my choices but with age come different knowledge After studying FMA an other blade based arts ive really refined my knife selection. I prefer a 5in fixed blade coldsteel SRK-C an i carry a barong machete on my pack. But im a civilian now. If i had to pick a military knife probably the 140 puukko Just my 2cents Sua Sponte
I think I bought the SOG SEAL at Ranger Joes. That place was always a must stop place to go. Good times!
I used the Grim Ripper in conjunction with a hammer to demolish a tree stump and a 3x4x8 foot refrigerated pizza make line. Bottleneck between the handle and blade did not budge. The finish is tore up and one of the handle scales is a little off but otherwise it's fine. Oh yeah and that SOG definitely is FULL tang. Great video.
The Grim Ripper is a pretty gnarly knife. Solid! It was my go-to knife during deployments.
What would be your current pick for a seven blade since the Sog Seal Team has been discontinued.?
I would most likely choose the TKell Nightstalker CQC
For everyone watching, you also have to consider that IF you use a blade or knife in a self-defense situation, it will be confiscated by the police. Either you won't get it back at all, or it will take a very long time before you get it back. So a very expensive knife will be collecting dust at the evidence locker if that happens. I went with the Colonel/Regiment knife myself because it's just around 100 bucks. I won't lose too much if I lost it or need to replace it. I just need a reliable knife with a decent enough steel to do the job done when I need it to.
That's very true. But in a self-defense situation and your life or your loved ones are on the line, would you put a price on it? For me, I would have cared less if I had spent a little more money on tools to protect my family. But hey, that's me.
BTW, the same goes for firearms. Precincts/Sheriff's office can hold it for evidence and may keep it longer depending on locality.
@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 I never said I would buy cheap, unbelievable junk lol. And yes, I would put a price on it. Do you think the Colonel/Regiment knife is less reliable compared to the other knives of similar size that you showed to us? In fact, you have it yourself in rotation. Furthermore, I would opt to carry a fixed blade compared to the folding knives that you showed. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's more reliable.
@@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 Do you think a BCM rifle is reliable than an HK rifle?
@@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 That's correct on the locality of the situation, but regardless they will take it from you. But you're not really getting my point though. You should be aware that training and getting more skills is much important than the gear and tools.
Love your vids but gotta fix the audio my man - subbed and following
I truly appreciate your feedback. I'm still trying to figure out my audio settings. Learning and testing different apps to clean it up a bit.
@@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 right on brother! Your content is on point and, listening on my full-size Mac with better audio just now as I reloaded the page to reply back, the sound isn't as bad as it seemed in my home gym where I'm usually stomping up an inclined march on a treadmill with no headphones. Keep experimenting though - I'm sure you'll hit the right mix to make the audio as great as your observations and advice!
Nice SOG - I had a Seki-made Tech II for years, wish I still had it but it was stolen.
They do last for a long time.
Yeah……that didn’t sound like a commercial. You read that shit pretty good Don’t believe you use these knives any more than I do.
Never claimed that I’ve used it as such. The goal is not use it. My tactical knives during my deployments are tertiary tools since I have a long gun and a secondary. As a civilian, this is a secondary tool since I have my pistol. The goal is not to get into a knife fight but If I have to, I would love to have one of these bad boys with me.
New subscriber. Love the channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the support! And welcome to the channel
I can appreciate both fixed blades and folding knives! I like the Kryptos.
Kryptos is pretty gnarly
You have shown Benchmade training version - what about it's regular knife?
The live blade is under the tactical video: ua-cam.com/video/hk_3TJZ3Vpo/v-deo.htmlsi=EsQJiIOFzNTNr-Jl
I hate folding knives. A guy I knew chopped a few fingers off from a failing folding knife
I'm very careful about knives I carry especially folders. Also, the reason why I don't use automatics
my military brotha , i am a new sub for ya here n i am a u.s. military/marine vet 93' to 97' active ! n i only have email here though n i def. wanna talk more , i LOVE talking blades n such , please send all military n jarheads my way , we must unite , thanks n we'll talk soon > tom !
Great to see you here!
Aww a gentleman after my own heart. I could literally sit and talk about knives all day. Mine would be more questions than anything. Since purchasing my first Magnacut blade it seems to be a beast. Everyone, please take care and be safe. Sir thank you for a very informative video. OOOOOOOORA brother
That Harsey reminds me of an old Camillus Cuda fixed blade I had in 2001 while at Bragg. I still regret to this day selling that knife.
That Cuda looks good and got some good reviews too!
The MSPF of 11 MEU SEAL platoon, '95, most of the knives they use, were knives you didn't mind losing. I kid you not, that's where I learn the phrase "this one is to look cool", still use it to this day. You don't want to lose your $600, '95 dollars value custom knife climbing a GOPLAT or doing a HYDRO, but for a BBQ with the team. I was with the Marines Recon, not a dual cool, I was attached to them. So we interop a lot. My 2 cents.
100% agree! Tops knives was go-to brand: durable, affordable, and I know that I can depend on when needed. I did brought expensive knives during deployment but those stayed in my deployment box. Lol!
@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 I learn from them, the issue MK2, black sheath & handle, got it professionally sharppen, and use the Eagle industries knife sheath, was a bad ass set up. I loved it, and it was SMaj proof.
You should check out Tops Apache Dawn with Rocky Mountain grip!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Nice selection of knives. That vintage SOG is awesome!
It sure is!
Known to the Green Berets as "The Yarborough" and to everyone else as "The Green Beret Knife", this no-nonsense, hardworking tool was designed by renowned knifemaker and designer Bill Harsey with function and manufacturing input from Chris Reeve. The Green Beret Knife for sale at KnifeArt is the 7-inch model, which is a great size for a variety of field uses. This knife is made in Boise, Idaho and is used by many members of the U.S. Army Special Forces and other elite military operators. Tough soldiers need a tough utility knife, and the Chris Reeve Green Beret Knife delivers on all counts. With its wear-resistant design for the many elements, the outdoors can throw at people, you will want it in your hand.
Cool video. Audio was super low for me
Thanks for letting me know. I'll make that adjustment in the following video!
Any automatic or spring assisted knife is crap The assist part breaks and now you got a paper weight, manual or fixed blades are a way better option both having cheaper options you can find same with assisted
I agree. That's why I rarely carry an automatic/spring-assisted knife and only use it as a utility-type knife. But this budget automatic knife caught my interest.
That sog is not full tang. No offense but it is a piece of crap
The terminology around full tang, slab tang, stick tang, and through tang is something I doubt will ever reach a consensus within the knife community. I know that this solid steel has served me well though.
@TacticalEdgeOperator1776 sorry, but that terminology has been well established for over 100 years. The only debate is among people who don't know what they're talking about. That, unfortunately, includes a lot of people in the industry - especially marketing types.
Gonna be honest, anybody calling a classic Seki-made SOG a piece of crap is losing a little credibility. Yes, the grip covers the tang. No, that doesn't make it a lesser knife. Modern SOGs may not be on par with what the company once was, but those Seki knives are absolute beasts.
@@PatternRecognitionMusic agreed
@@PatternRecognitionMusicEspecially one that’s still got the desert on it! Just another keyboard warrior sitting in his mom’s basement wearing her panties putting people down.
😮
Please send me one to use. I love Nitecore 😊
That’s a very nice edc blade. I got a para 3 but in satin finished.
U serious Clark?
