KATY is a 7 1/4in gauge locomotive that had not been steamed for more than 10 years. After being stripped down and a close inspection of the boiler, KATY was given a trial steaming on 10 May 2022 which was completed satisfactorily.

CHATHAM, modelled on an 18in gauge Manning Wardle saddle tank supplied to Chatham Dockyard in the 19th century, was laid up in October 2019 for the 2019/2020 winter, but it was prevented from being steamed in 2020 by the pandemic. This 7 1/4in gauge locomotive is based on the 2 ft gauge FOWLER 0-6-2 locomotive that worked on the Innisfail Tramway in Australia. It was being run after successfully passing the first hydraulic and steam tests of its boiler - August 2020

The Glebe land Light Railway is a 7 1/4in gauge railway operating narrow gauge type locomotives and rolling stock. Visiting locomotives were Hunslet quarry tanks DYDDIO and PUFFIN and the Romulus design REMUS. The resident Bagnall locomotive POUND was also in steam.

Since this video was made the BER has been developed and extended, and it now includes a zig-zag. It now has passenger coaches, one of which is a comfortable buffet car well stocked as may be required.
