Hi, great question! It's at the perfect height to promote a high elbow catch, meaning if it is not done correctly, you will hit the floor. Hope this helps :)

So first half of the catch is lat activated, and then the catch propulsion phase is triceps activated? While swimming freestyle if you get sore first on your shoulders is sign you have a bad technic? Thanks for any tips on the catch and muscle activation.
Hi! Typically the freestyle swim stroke is broken up into 3 main phases. Catch, propulsion and recovery. Some models have more but in general. Your lats are used in a lot of the movement and the tricep is engaged also but importantly has a big impact on the last part of the propulsion phase. In regards to the shoulder it could be a few reasons: 1) flexibility. To achieve a true catch position it requires your shoulders to be quite mobile. Therefore, if there is not enough flexibility in the joint pain can occur. 2) new stimulus. When first introducing a high catch position if the body is unfamiliar to this new technique, it will take time for the body to adjust which can cause extra pressure to be placed on the shoulder as you first start to adopt a new technique. we always recommend with any changes that you make them small and gradual. 3) feedback. we recommend that you have a friend watch you or film you so that you can make sure that you are adopting the correct technique as sometimes it can be difficult to truly understand what you’re doing in the water purely from internal feedback. I cant quite see if you are leaving the black stop in and just opening the clear valve or opening both??
Hey Daren. Thanks for your question. To start with you want to use the big hole. As you've filled up the bench you can plug the first valve, use your finger in between to make sure you lose as little air as possible, and then use you mouth to top up the preassure through the smaller valve. Hope this helps.

I would not pull on the wetsuit from the outside like the guy in the video as you can sometimes tear it, especially if it had not been in water for a while - in that case shower it few days before you plan to use it. To put it on pull from the inside - as shown here ua-cam.com/video/jhQPc0OtuFY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TMakSportswear That is less risky and will save you some glue :-).
a PSI range (because it is so individualized) for the bench would be great to have. <3

Totally agree. One month in, and there's a notable difference in performance. Time is the key factor with this product. It's so easy to lose pool time opportunities with a busy life and kids etc. This just gives it all back with bells!!

What size is a 4 on a wetsuit

I also got a helix and got a nice tight fit, it’s fine for longer distance swims but I feel like in shorter distances I find my breathing a little restrictive due to tightness across the chest. It’s still very new so I’m hoping this will go away with time? Or have I just mucked up and need a larger suit?

What are the dimensions of the zen8 swim bench? Are there different sizes for different heights?
Hey Kevin. The ZEN8 Swim Bench is designed to work for most athletes, ranging from younger developing swimmers to full-grown athletes. However, if you're taller than 190cm (6,2'') you might find that the bench is slightly too small. This is normally due to the length of the arms. Taller athletes have been finding ways around this by lifting the bench with a rolled towel or a book. This is obviously not ideal, and we are hoping to have a taller bench on the market soon.

I have a question you may be able to help me with. I'm currently in training for a continuous deca triathlon for next year and want to find a way to build up my swimming endurance. With swim times at a low currently and lakes closing for winter, I was looking at this as a tool to my training. What are your thoughts? My idea was, like with running and cycling, to find a starting amount of time I can do comfortably and then build upon that each week. I thought a few hours of this whilst watching a movie on the floor or something. Does this seem like a tool I could use like that you reckont? Thanks
Hi Nathan, thanks for your comment and interest in ZEN8. We would recommend to start out with 15-20 minute sessions on the ZEN8 Swim Trainer and then build your way up. The Swim Trainer offer more resistance than the water. This is why it is so useful, but it will also put a lot of stress to the muscles at first. The Swim Bench will also add extra stress to the body as it activates the core due to it's design. You will over time be able to work your way up to longer sessions, but even the short ones will be extremely useful in your training. We'd recommend shorter sessions on the trainer and then recover in the sofa with a movie instead ;) Over time you'll be able to go further and build up your endurance. Well, I know that it is hugely more expensive, but what about the Vasa Ergometer? Being over 25 times more expensive, would it give you 25 times better results? I was interested until you said 'I'm part of the company'. It intermediately tells me it will be a biased opinion. But I persevered.

Ive been using the ZEN8 now for about 2 weeks and absolutely love it! I’ve noticed a world of difference when I go to the Pool now. Been doing 30 minute sessions on the trainer every other day and WOW! What a workout!

I'm a triathlon swim stroke technique private coach, and you're the first person I've seen on UA-cam that's accurately diagnosed the "knee bend" or "the wiggle kick" (as I call it) as an offshoot from a running/cycling background. I never thought of the sock drill, I'll use that in the future!
