How to Draw a Cartoon Character in Procreate (8 Steps)
Переглядів 1,3 тис.2 роки тому
Today I'm gonna show you the full process of drawing a cartoon character in Procreate, enjoy! By the way, this is the first real video on this channel, super excited to start this new UA-cam channel. It took me around a month to actually finish this and there is so much room for improvement. If you have any feedback on how I can improve feel free to write it in the comments so I can make better...
You really did a nice sketchbook
Encore! ❤
Hel yeee
Wow! This is so cool to see. It's really nice to see the ''path'' of your art. Funny cuz it was gesture and construction first for me.
Glad you enjoyed it! And thats interesting that u started with gesture haha
wowww! so inspiring
hell yeeeeeeeaa
you draw cars and mechanical stuff really well
Ahh thanks! I love to draw hard surface stuff!
I randomly found your videos and they have been so inspiring. 🙌
Thank you so much for watching. Really glad that its inspiring and hope u use that inspiration to draw some cool stuff!
The engineer character feel really alive ancor!!
Hell yeee, I need to finish it lol
asaro head
Heck yeeeeeah
Just stumbled across your page. Great work and advice. Thank you for sharing. Quick question…what size is your sketchbook?
Thank you! The sketchbook is standard A4 size i think
I'm also healing with videogame time as a reward for drawing and using a sketch book as a cozy escape I can learn from
Haha im not alone lol!
@@meandidraws my biggest obsession is art and games so I have to play them both or else I'll feel bad about the other. Iykyk Great seeing your art journey and love to hear it
Wow, this is so inspiring! I even made myself a little note and am going to try that thing with drawing a goldfish from different angles! And other stuff! I just recently realized that I need to draw something 5 times to get some understanding of the volume of the object haha
Awesome! Its so cool to hear that its inspiring for you. And yeah drawing something many times from different angles is sooo effective.
The growth you see across this sketchbook is crazy. Great job man, i'm gonna go watch the other ones now
Thank u so much!
Love your content keep it up dude!
Appreciate it! I will! New vid next week!
Seeing @Uncomfortable in the comments is my sign to complete DAB
The boxes are waiting for you. Can’t ignore them any longer!
cool Azaro head
Hel yeeee
You’ve truly inspired me man those sketches are so great other than Drawabox and Artwod have you done any other classes ?
Thank u! Other then some domestika courses, I havent done much. I’ve done done Sorie Kims, Even Amudsens, atauls and a few other domestika courses. I’ve also learned a lot of art books, especially the framed series by marcos matteu mestre and bridgman books. You can check out my art book tour 2024 video for more info on that:)
What's the name of the website with the challenges you're mentioning? Sounds like Aardvark or something. Asarohead
Thanks for watching, its artwod!
Asarohead! Great vid
Thank u for watching till the end! Part 3 coming soon!
Asarohead. Definitely enjoyed your sketchbook tour and breakdown. Also I noticed we took a lot of the same courses which is pretty cool
You watched till the end!! Thank u so much. You did drawabox and artwod too??
Incredible stuff :)
Thank you!!
Asaro head. Love your sketchbook.
Hell yeeee you watched to the end thank u so much
9:40 *Ser Ackbar has entered the chat* "t'was indeed a trap!"
Loool yeah he kinda looks like him
These are so good!
Thank you!!
Love your sketchbooks! Inspired to use brush pen!
Glad u like it! Part 3 coming soon!
Super nice
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks so much man. I been struggling to find new ways to study and I think this is perfect. Are you going straight in with pen after you draw a box? Also, what pen is that? These look great, so much improvement since you first started your channel
Thank u for watching! I usually sketch with a pencil and then use 0.5 fineliner to add linework, then erase pencil lines if thats what youre asking:)
Asarohead. Your 100 heads challenge and those robots from random shapes were my favorites, absolutely amazing.
Hell yeaaaah, thank you so much for commenting and also watching the video to the end! Yeah 100 heads challenge is my fav too!
This right here, is a sketch book. This is what they’re about! I think when I was younger I used to confuse a sketch book with an art book. You’ve probably seen them on UA-cam, artists giving a tour of their “sketchbook” full of beautiful fully rendered art. both are so great, but I think a sketchbook like this is for the reps. Combined with things that interest you to make it fun. Recently I started ceramics, and the biggest thing for my improvement was just making the cylinder, the foundation of forms in pottery, over and over. Anyways rant over, I could keep going 😅, loved watching your tour!
Yes! To me sketchbook is a place for exploration, experimentation and just having fun. It can totally be for making fully rendered art too, but once it starts to feel too precious, the sketchbook essence is lot to me.
"This is bad." [points to an amazing drawing] "Just really bad." They all look incredible to me!
Hahaha thanks! 😅
Asaro head 🗿
Hell yeeeee, thanks for watching to the end!
"Sketchbooks are just cozy," says cozy man in cozy sweater.
Cozy sketching in a cozy house wearing a cozy sweater is the dream. Love to see that you're watching the videos by the way, Uncomfy! If it wasn't for you maybe I wouldn't even have started drawing seriously.
I honestly don't like cozy stuff. And I really can't deal with it when making art. I need high energy bullshit. When I am drawing I listen to Machine Girl at a deafining volume. Keeps the evil thoughts away you know?
@@itshel2677 hahaha yeah sometimes i like to play run the jewels and pump out some drawings too lol
Dang! These are awesome! I really need to start looking at doing these kinds of exercises!
Thank you! What exercise you want to start doing the most?

I’m currently working through the og Morpho book right now. I’m just copying as much as I can to the best of my ability, but I can see a lot of progress already. There’s not a whole lot of words, which is great because there is just a TON of images to draw from. Highly recommended.
Awesome! Never heard of this one but ill check it out!
Fun fact about "Drawing from shoulder" because 7:14 just reminded me about it: When I was way younger, like 16 or maybe even 14, I attempted to follow the drawbox tutorial and tried REALLY hard to draw with my arm rather than my wrist/elbow, to the point where I overexerted my shoulder so much I'm pretty sure I permanently fucked up some muscles in my back (Teres minor/major maybe? Feels like that general area). Thankfully this does not cause any pain but every so often I feel like my shoulder blade falls lower than it's supposed to, and I have to do a few arm stretches to get it back in place. Still, the drawing technique of using your whole arm rather than elbow/wrist has definetely helped me to lvl up as an artist, so like, that's a fair trade imo. Also, thinking back on it the thing that *really* did me in was probably my posture while sitting, rather than the mere act of drawing from shoulder, because i used to sit like a damn goblin perched on a stool 5 feet away from my desk and with my arm outstretched to my tabled
Oh damn. Yeah posture is very important, thats why its best to draw on an inclined surfaced, not on the flat one.
As a maths student I have one issue with what drawbox teaches only one, it has exasperated my ability to spend hours at a time drawing fractals, agonising over precise perspective (not this one so much I just can't not) and for biology trying to understand the 3d form of eukaryotic cells. I'm joking it's great, but on a serious note do you find reference for 3d objects in space and know how to draw through them... wait.. I may not have finished the 250 boxes challenge yet.. damn I probably should do that some time.. do I even have that? Eh oh well. Think I saw that challenge the first time I heard of drawbox, proceeded to not read the instructions and draw 250 boxes on some pages, like manipulated and distorted ones but, but the eclipse section sent from the gods I swear. I'm a rambling.
Ummm.. I didnt fully understand what you wanted to say with this lol 😀😀
@@meandidraws honestly I just realised I don't either I honestly have no clue. I normally just ramble in random things like I'm in the void
@@Its_a_pain_having_a_name 😅😅
Great collection!! Kudos to you for having so many anatomy artbooks and actually using them. I only have one from Jenő Barcsay tho it's not as packed with illustrations as Bridgman's. (I rarely use it unfortunately). But my favourite art book is Hirohiko Araki Works. I don't work much with colours but his approach to coloring is otherworldly. It's so informative to look at.
Awesome! I will take a look at Hirohiko Araki, never heard of it!
Great collection there 👌💯
Appreciate! Whats ur favorite book?
So pro ❤
Thanks broo!
How to Draw is my favourite one that I keep going back to, its just the stepstone of it all you know
True, it sets a good foundation to all drawing paths later
What is your favorite art book? (Not just from this vid)
Very nice video. One question, though, i heard you mention ArtWOD a few times during the video and how you went through their drawing basics program. I have also wanted to their program alongside drawabox (currently in lesson 2 textures rn.) Is there a certain point in DAB you recommend someone gets to before starting ArtWod or can I join at any point. Also are the two courses good to do alongside one another?
Thanks! Yeah so I started artwod only after finishing the drawabox, but artwod has a great beginners course that you can start without any prior knowledge, so I do recommend trying out both actually.
Love Your Pig Gang!🥰
Love u 🥰 (shes my gf lol)
I've been in a slump lately and hearing you said you drew for 400+ day daily is very inspiring
Hell yeah, glad u found this inspirational. And also dont think that I dont experience slumps haha, i do all the time, youre not alone! 🫡
v underrated channel , good stuff
Glad you think so! Feel free to share with drawing buddies and spread the word!
Yoooooo this was very cool to watch bro! Def not as cringe as you might think 😁Waiting patiently for the next sketchbook tour!
Thanks brochacho 😀 I think many of us cringe at their past selves haha
OKAY W SKETCHBOOK
What do u mean 😀
@@meandidrawsyour sketchs are really good gang
Ah hell yeah, thnx! Stay tuned for part 2 it gets better!
Really good work man. Can't wait for the other sketchbooks videos!
Thank u! I’ve got 2 more sketchbook videos coming, stay tuned!
