5 Reasons why YOU should move to GUELPH Ontario
Discover the top 5 reasons to move to Guelph, Ontario, featuring insights from residents
who have made the move. Learn why Guelph could be the perfect place for you and your
family.
🏡 Affordable Real Estate
The real estate price point is the first reason to consider moving to Guelph, Ontario.
If you're a first-time home buyer with a budget of $700,000 to $900,000, you'll find more
options here compared to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) suburbs like Mississauga or
Brampton. In Q1 2024, the average price of a detached house in Mississauga was over
$1.3 million, while in Guelph, it was around $935,000. This significant price difference
makes Guelph an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Safe and Family-Friendly
Guelph is considered one of the safest cities in Ontario and Canada. It ranks third in safety
in Ontario and 12th across Canada. This low crime rate attracts many young families.
Additionally, Guelph offers excellent schooling systems, both at the elementary and
secondary levels, with many schools highly ranked by the Fraser Institute and other bodies.
🚗 Central Location and Commuter-Friendly
Guelph's central location and proximity to larger towns make it an attractive option for
families moving from the GTA. Commuting to Mississauga takes about 45 minutes, and to
Toronto, about an hour. Guelph is also close to Cambridge and Kitchener, with commutes
of about 35 minutes. This centrality offers flexibility for finding work in nearby towns without
the need for long commutes.
🌳 Urban-Suburban Balance
Guelph strikes a perfect balance between urban and suburban lifestyles. It offers the
amenities and conveniences of a city while maintaining a quiet, suburban atmosphere.
This makes it ideal for families who enjoy a peaceful setting but still want access to urban
facilities and major city amenities.
🌲 Abundance of Green Spaces
If you love nature, you'll fall in love with Guelph. The city is rich in green spaces, hiking trails, recreation areas, and scenic lookout points along the banks of the Speed River. While Guelph may not have a major water body, its natural beauty is a significant perk for residents.

There are a small number of superb neighbourhoods in Preston that are either off the beaten path or, right in your face and you don't notice it. I live in the latter. People go out of their way to drive through it because it is so nice with every house custom built and different. All the main windows of my house look over the greenery with nary a house in sight! I'm not going to tell you where these are, you need to drive around and find them yourself. Another method is to study the blow-ups of google maps. Hint: Follow the two river's shore lines and park edges. Personally I am not a friend of neighbourhoods where you look into your neighbours bedroom or bathroom from your windows.

Thanks for your input. It is a rare find these days especially with newer homes which are build literally 3ft apart from each other. That is one of the many reasons I find my of my clients prefer older construction over brand new homes these days. P.S I think I know which part you are referring to here but will surely check them out more closely the next time I am in the area.

To be honest the only place where you see life is Toronto down town. Rest of the cities are boring as hell. Brampton and Mississauga is bigger cities but I don't like it. One thing I say Brampton and Mississauga job wise is better than other cities because most of companies head offices and distribution centers are in this two cities. The rest of Ontario if you love nature then good for you otherwise very boring. Cities around GTA are bed cities where people come for night to sleep.

    • @livinginkitchenerontario
      @livinginkitchenerontario 16 днів тому

You summed it up there on many fronts. Jobs - Toronto and nearby suburbs are better. Each have their own pros and cons. It really boils down to what are the key priorities for someone looking to settle down.

@livinginkitchenerontario I am living in this country long time when there was nothing in Milton and Mississauga not as big as now and no one would buy in Woodstock. But to really enjoy in this province and live a lively life is Toronto downtown and surroundings and the rest of the province is if you live nature otherwise boring as hell. The cities like Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph are not very very good but if I say from 1 to 10 then I would give these cities 3 or 4 because there is nothing here. Same goes to East side like Ajax, Pickering and Oshawa etc. All the same design of malls and buildings and same businesses which you will see almost through the country and not kind of unique and different style.

I grew up in Goderich which is in the snowbelt and the amount of snow there is brutal. Kitchener is also a low area and a lot of harsh weather goes around us. I have lived in both Kitchener and London, and they are both nice cities. I feel that the healthcare is better in London… if you have a serious issue in KW, you often are sent to Hamilton or London. Also, I love the beach, and it is only about half an hour to Lake Erie and 45 minutes to Lake Huron. When living in KW, I felt land locked… there is not a river that flows through downtown. Depending what you find is important to you, I hope this adds a bit more info to help in your decision.

Ahh, great point. Yes living in KW, we do feel landlocked at times. We are yet to experience the Healthcare system here as in hospital (fingers crossed we don't anytime soon) but thanks for sharing your own experience. I am sure it will help the broader audience here.

Depends on what part of the neighborhood you are in. There is quite a bit of new development on one end of the hood. I would stick to that patch if it has to be little corner. I just did a tour of a model home in this neighborhood for an upcoming townhome community on my channel. Which part are you considering?

Only low paying jobs in Cambridge. Used to be prices were substantially lower then Kitchener but now they are around the same. Might as well live in Kitchener simce there are better jobs in the area, more big events, nightlife and way better transit options (LRT, Via Rail, go buses and buses are more frequent).

@@livinginkitchenerontario I live in Cambridge used to be cheaper then Kitchener to live here. Outside of KW or Toronto area is bad for getting high paying jobs. For Stratford expect to have to drive to Kitchener or London for work. The road conditions in the winter are also bad in small communities so hard to get to work if it is far away then. I'm at the edge of Cambridge and Ayr and even in the area more densely populated the plow doesn't go by enough in the winter when there is heavy snow.

  • @joshuahankins2613

Cambridge has no good jobs. Everyone has to drive to Kitchener/Waterloo or Toronto. The major employer is Toyota in Cambridge so work there an make 60k (not even enough to afford to rent a 1bd). Any higher income jobs are not in Cambridge. If in Cambridge stay away from housing in downtown galt its very sketchy.

3.7 Million houses are coming for sale in the next 7 years, as they were saying. People, investors will start selling massively. Issue solved for the inventory. No more hypocrites saying: WE NEED MORE HOUSING. No, we don't. Calm down. Not even in 5 to 10 years as the population won't be anymore 1M plus. Think outside of the box. Team leaders are not as informed as me, doing business in over 30 cities in GTA and surroundings. Nothing great is coming in the next 6-12 months. The demand side is done. People are running out of Ontario and immigration in Ontario slows down hugeeee. Again. Huge. I am living here, doing daily business in every single city. We don't need more housing at these prices, as our clients and investors won't buy them, being way overpriced. What's so hard to understand? Really? Who needs lower mortgage rates? 1% Who needs lower home prices? 99% It's time to wake up Cut baby, cut!! :) :) Follow me for more insights in the Real reality of the Ontario real estate market. #Canada #Realestate #GTAOntario #Realtor
