Tragically someone removed the bell from our Stake Center just this year. It was only used once a year at seminary on Halloween. OMG. I joined the church a year ago. I'm African American. I didn't know the history. The people are super kind. I made a commitment to stay a year. But the racist language in the BOM, I could not get past. Nor was I content with being gaslit and told it didn't mean my actual skin color. Finally, I bought Matthew Harris' book Secon Class Saints. GAME CHANGER. I left the church. If they're going to keep that language in the book and still teach we are inferior and from an inferior lineage, I don't want any part of it.

Today we sang 1010 Amazing Grace from our hymnlet. The hymn booklet that is now in our hymn book nooks.

I served my mission in Thailand, and we made a list of Christmas songs for a new member who was responsible for getting the music for the ward Christmas party. Since this was his first Christmas as a Christian, he didn’t know what the Christmas music sounded like. It was pretty funny when "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night started playing at the ward Christmas party.

I am a trans woman. I was actively attending church up until this policy was released in August. My ward and relief society welcomed me with open arms. My testimony is still intact, but the policy was too exclusionary. I was initially nervous to hear a discussion about my trans brothers and sisters from two ciswhite men, especially when the host kept saying “identify as trans” implying being trans is a choice. But the older gentleman was truly an ally and understands the hurtful ways this policy affects people like me. I hope the more progressive members like him don’t leave because of this disgusting policy.

As a LDS member, I find Matt a breath of fresh air, as it seems to me that he is vastly more interested in the facts and truth than narratives. I have a million questions, but can someone answer this please, Pres Kimball was holding out for all to be united in an apparent attempt to hold to revelation in D&C 107, why, when things didn't pan out the way he wanted them to, did he choose just to ignore it, is it a revelation or not? As Matt said, yea he was getting some things done, but dishonestly. If he honestly believed that God was instructing him to remove the ban why did Pres Kimball care what other men thought, are we suggesting that God's perfect will needs to be validated by imperfect men? What did Joseph say one of the lesson's he learnt was, When God commands do it? Unless of course Pres Kimball wasn't sure it was a command from God. I am finding myself tied in knots trying to give grace to these men as it seems they advocate doctrine when it suits and are happy to make a change when it suits. In 1990 we all know that Pres Nelson was advocating for a drop in the word Mormon, I presume it didn't happen because there wasn't unanimity We know there wasn't because 6 months later in conference, Pres Hinckley said, We have been called worse, Mormon = More Good). Then when he became president it happened, unanimity all of a sudden. His wife let us know the truth, when she said he always wanted it to happen but could only do it when he was President, am I missing something, no unanimity needed? A friend of mine remarked that he felt, Christ was head of the church but he wasn't running it.

Lone Mountain Temple passed city council and still needs to pass county commission 😵‍💫 or vise-a-versa. The meeting was 6 hours, but there were a lot of items on the agenda and the temple was last on the list.

Howard, how kind “ you” are to us. The bottom line is that covenant members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints are “ gathered Israel”. We ( LDS)have a covenant obligation to gather Israel into the same covenant. For purposes of your agency and in the hopes that you will see the light and feel inclined to be gathered of yourself, we invite! Never doubt that it would be our greatest joy for you and all to join with us and making the covenants that are necessary for all who want the blessings of eternity. Never think that motive is ever gone. Our own success to our covenant is contingent not on if you are gathered, but that we have done our best trying to influence your understanding to the point that you engage in the same covenants. We desperately want you come through the door to get your own endowments of God found only in Christs true church, which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. We sincerely believe that it is God Himself who deemed this church so - not us ,of ourselves trying to make it so. Loving you to that realization is our ultimate desire. Whether you do or not, hopefully our love , as yours will never fail. Thanks for giving “ us” such good marks. There are certainly a multitude of cases where “ we” have performed more clumsily. God has to be patient with “us” too , because we certainly haven’t arrived ourselves to what He wants us all to be. :)
