i daily a ‘76 pickup with a 318. only things i done to it was speedmaster heads, adjustable rockers, distributor and carb. my school knows when i pull up.
I couldn't have asked for a better video. Explained through a visual, verbal instruction, AND the real physical parts.... My man, you rock! I'm currently swapping a 318/727tf combo into my 74 international 1/2 ton pick-up. Saving this video and subscribing!
@charlesvictorrose thank you for those kind words. I'm glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. I'm wanting to remove the lean burn setup off of a 87 dodge. Being a GM guy this is useful and straightforward. Thanks!
Classic Honda crank bolt, you’re going to need a big ass impact, harbor freights Hercules 1/2 high torque impact should do it
@bagginn I've worked on Hondas for many years, and this was the first to ever give me trouble. I guess I was due for it lol
Do the early Mopar "transistorized" "electronic" ignition modules have a history of issues? If I recall when GM first introduced the Delco "HEI" there was some RPM related issue or something . What is the difference/benefit of using the Delco "HEI" module over the Mopar (?Prestolite?) unit? Don't they both just use a Power Transistor to switch the current on and off to the coil instead of mechanical contact points? What about using a Motorcraft Duraspark ignition module instead? it has the additional feature of an electronically controlled timing retard.
@killermachine6859 haven't had much experience with those other options. Over the years Chevy modules have been refined and seems to work good for me. Plus they're available almost anywhere
BTW hows the Fury doing?
@@stevodakine1 I need to make a new brake line for the rear. It's currently in storage. Probably get back on it after the holidays
I like the US General from the git-go. You can never have enough toolboxes.
checking Ports on small blocks I took gasket that matched the head ports, I found Ed intakes were RPM was spot on and Victor jr off by a mile and the Super victor to be smaller ports and the Entry on that one does not let you fully open secondaries . at $450 each It seems very expensive to need porting also., I bought the TFS Heat and it is perfectly sized and nice turns on ports entryway is also nice
@@smilsmff thanks for that useful information! I ended up going with the Weiand on this. Works great with an edelbrock carb
If that car could talk
@mikefrommaine8638 it's obvious this car has some amazing stories behind it. Hopefully the owner will reach out.
Took 2 mn calvecover fasket
Nice Utiline!
For me, I have no use for either one. But I want one.
@chefdeth7993 same here, but i found a cool use for it.
My only complaint with the us general is the drawers only open about 1/2 way. No one ever mentioned that comparing to the kobalt. Kobalt definitely opens a little further. I hope hf comes out with a bottom box to match now.
@jnic2003 that is true. The bottom box to match in the US General brand is a must! Hopefully the marketing team is watching!
Does the us general mini fit in your 5 drawer cart behind you?
@huntermurphy561 Great question! im going to find out right now.
@huntermurphy561 just checked and it does not.
Time frame before it started disintegrating
Not very long. The primer i used wasn't rated for high heat, so it didn't even last a month
How do they perform in the rain though?

@shamsmubarak7 if they perform like the 3 sets I've had, you'll be satisfied!
I have ordered from Rock Auto for probably 10 years now and never had a problem. Only issue I ever had was a radiator for a 2004 Nissan Frontier truck was damaged in shipping to which I contacted them, sent the damaged one back and got another one a few days later. However, here recently I’ve been finding myself ordering auto parts more from sites like eBay and Amazon and it’s because of the shipping! I just ordered a set of brake pads for my daughter’s 2021 Toyota Camry from Amazon for $33.81 and they are arriving this upcoming Wednesday. Rock Auto had them for around $28 but here’s the kicker: Today is Monday and shipping would have been $7.99 for UPS to deliver it within a 10 day window but to improve that date it would have been $10.99 to get them by this upcoming Friday! I could have gotten them by Wednesday but I would have had to have paid around $35 and to get them overnighted would have been $135! I don’t think the people who run Rock Auto are aware of what’s going on and if they aren’t careful Amazon and Ebay are going to eat them alive. Somebody better get control of their shipping pretty quickly because if they don’t, they might end up closing shop. Just my two cents!
Currently running a new set of these tires and I can say road noise went way down compared to the old Goodyears my car had I’ve only had them for a month and I approve..
@@LuisGil-o4z I've had 3 sets now on multiple vehicles with no issues. Thanks for watching!
Sup neighbor seen ya off fb market. Subscribed!
@jordanvernon3084 thanks for the sub!
Less worried about a fire and more worried about theft. Those fire safes have proved to be unreliable in a total loss house fire.
RockAuto started out pretty good for me, but their service has taken a nose dive. I needed a new a/c line to replace the leaking one on my Ford Ranger. Received notice the next day that my order had shipped. I would check the status the next couple days, and still just shipped. Got suspicious, and checked the FedEx tracking. FedEx didn't receive the package. For two weeks, my order was in limbo. Now, could I call RockAuto about it? No. Could I text or email about it? No. All I could do was check the "didn't receive order" box on the order status page. In the time it took to get this order from RockAuto, I was able to order and receive the same part from Amazon, twice. When I finally did get them, I sent them back for a refund, citing that delivery took too long. If you've had good luck with them, great, I hope it continues. As for me, I will never do business with them again.
My friend, you’re not alone. I’ve been doing business with rock auto for over a decade now, and I agree their service is is not like it used to be. You can see it in the comment I just wrote above yours, but I had to return a damage to radiator and like you I could not call or text anyone, I had to check a box to have a new one sent and ship the old one back to them. However, what’s killing my interest in rock auto is their shipping! Not only is it going up up up but it’s taking entirely way too long to get here. I get the feeling places like Amazon and Ebay are fixing to eat them alive if they aren’t careful. Like you said, rock auto started out great but here lately it’s like their engine is running, but nobody is behind the wheel!
1 question? why would you put a flat tappet cam/lifters in a roller cam 318 block?
@MichaelBrown-yp1eq this one had flat tappet cam from the factory. Plus roller cam and budget build don't belong in the same sentence.
@@HardHeadGarage; I had an 87 Fifth Ave with the 318 roller cam/hydraulic roller lifters. all 85 to 89 318 had the hydraulic roller cam/lifters the block you are showing cam with the hydraulic roller cam/lifter setup.
@MichaelBrown-yp1eq if you go back and watch the tear down video you'll see the flat tappet cam that came out of it
@@HardHeadGarage; I went back to what looks like your first video. looking at the lifter valley I noticed the three bolt hole spots for the retainer that would hold the hydraulic roller lifters. it might have had a flat tappet cam in the block, but the cam was not the original cam the block would have came with.
@MichaelBrown-yp1eq i thought the same, but after researching it found that some had provisions for the roller cam but actually came from the factory with the flat tappet cam installed. Only thing I can think is they were using up surplus before making the switch to roller cams.
That's a 1970 charger NOT a 1969

Best body style ever.
I live in Washington state and ever since I was a kid my grandpa had a 1969 dodge charger sitting in his 5 acre field when I got a older I asked him about it I told him why is this car just sitting here and when is the last time it ran, he looked at me with the look on his face went inside came back out with a set of keys and a gas can and a can of spray and a battery after about 10 minutes. He got it to fire up then turned it off, took everything off and the car still sits there to this day I really wish somebody would come pick it up and do something with it before I just rots away
Nice presentation.....🏁

These damned 318s rev to hell and back. Got a 2 barrel version in my 84 B250 van and I swear she's seen 6000rpm more than once lol
@zackmatulis4094 I've wound this one up a few times, they are hard to beat!
@@HardHeadGarage They really are fantastic engines. I used to have a 97 Dodge van with a 318 Magnum a few years ago and no bullshit I think the 84 LA with the 2 barrel has more grunt to it. My 84 is "new to me" with less than 100k miles and definitely needs a tune up and carb service, but when the temperature just right she's a fuckin' rocket as is. With new plugs/wires, full smog delete (non lean burn luckily) some timing and carb adjustment I think this old dog will light the tires up hard core lol. Biggest trouble Dodge/Chrylser ever had was its transmissions. Mine leaks but as long as you keep that fluid topped off she will hammer 1st and 2nd gear like I couldn't beleive! I use her as my Firebird race car/Speed boat tow rig for now but I'd love to eventually convert her over to 4WD 😅
@zackmatulis4094 that's awesome man! Gotta keep them alive!
Needs to be in my 64 Bairacuda
Chain won’t stay tight on mine and comes off. I absolutely hate this chainsaw
@redmanrm1 I've never had an issue with my chain coming off, but I normally check it on every fill up.
So you don't need the ballast resistor any more. How do you hook up to a keyed source, what wire or wires
@michaelhasse2568 get a multimeter and test your fuse box, any wire that has 12 volts with the key in the on and cranking position will work. Lots of people have used the wires that went to the ballast resistor.
Some of that stuff is different from the left side to the right side too you got to play guessing games what part went and what box
