Oase Pondovac 3 at www.water-garden.co.uk
The Oase Pondovac 3 is a sludge vacuum cleaner which can remove particles of dirt , algae, string algae, sludge, dead vegetation and bits of leaves from the pond by the way of suction without having to evacuate the pond dwellers and without irritation from the pungent smell of ammonia.
Two identically sized cylinders are filled and emptied in alternating cycles. If one container is full then a valve is mechanically activated by a float. This triggers emptying of one and at the same time allows the other cylinder to be filled. This is how continuous vacuuming and emptying of the containers can occur at the same time.
Higher motor performance enables greater suction power to a maximum depth of 2.1m (7ft).
Large diameter casters and generous handle ensure that the Pondovac can be moved easily.
Includes a special string algae nozzle, a wide nozzle with a rubber lip, a crevice tool and a floor nozzle, the vacuum tube extension, as well as a fine mesh debris collection bag for the water return.
Accessory table that means all the tools can be organized and stored easily.

Bacteria also grow on the foam, bacteria actually grow everywhere.

i tried making a pond in my backyard.. but then i realized that i live in georgia, where the soil is hardened clay
WIth heavy silt or clay soil, you don't even need a liner in most of these shallow ponds.
What capacity of pond will this system cope with?
I just got one, I am worried about the fish, only one of the nozzles seems to be safe enough. As for the rest it sucks very well the smallest part, still is a job that needs, time, patient and lots of attention.

I hook the water hose to a faucet coming off a line on my pump so I'm flushing with pond water and not house water.

When you flush the filter with the garden hose attached surely the tap water would then kill of all the beneficial bacteria?
Correct. It would not be recommended to use treated tap water to flush your filter.
