Maybe peoples rates should stay in the local council not go into a govt slush fund that gets sent overseas. A small part of it given back for govt programs that consist making at harder to park and drive cars around.

Interesting how benign everything sounds when you plan a 19.5% average (25% for my rates !) increae in the first year, 15.5% the next and 10% the following. This is the Wairoa 3YP. Over these next 3 years this is in fact a 60% rate increase! These increases are cummulative and I am sure won't be the last increases either. I am living off my pension and very soon won't be able to afford these rates anymore for my 80 year old 2 bedroom house in this Wild East Coast town of isolated Wairoa. Where do I go to fill my wallet up so I continue feeeding out of touch councils?
