Hi there… Yes, if the drive isn’t kaput and pops up on the desktop via the dock or adapter, it will function the same as if the drive were in the LaCie housing. If it’s encrypted, a password window will pop up, like normal, before you can access the drive.

Same here - it's definitely an interesting piece of tech, and they're sometimes hard to find on these huge properties...

It's a hunch, from watching these helicopters for years, but it seems they sometimes show up over lower-level, non-newsworthy traffic stops when nothing else is going on, which is often... The audit released by the LA controllers office last year shed some light on this, reporting "61% of flight time was devoted to lower priority calls, transportation and ceremonial flights, and scheduled patrols of specific areas."

Well that's certainly not ideal... If I ever have both of those around, maybe I'll combine a small amount together and see what it's like (when no one is looking, haha).

@@KilmerMedia: Yes, a thimbleful! I had to give up drinking bitter / real ale in pubs, because they're not suitable for vegetarians. Going on to lager meant adding blackcurrant juice to lessen the fizz. It's amazing what you can start to enjoy!

Yeah - fortunately, the circling doesn't happen too often in my area, but at least two of these are over L.A. at any given time and fly over at least once or twice nearly every day.
