Velorex 560 restoration project EP.1
Переглядів 1355 місяців тому
Never thought that i will be so happy about sidecar. Nut I’m buzzing! Long story short: found this sidecar on Lithuanian market place page, my dad (who still lives there) went to buy it and brought it back to his house. Then had it transported to UK. All that happened in one weeks time. This is Velorex 560 sidecar that is matching my ongoing Jawa 592 project. So now have ongoing projects leadin...

Part 2 of Jawa series. Bike got completely striped down. Cleaned as much as i could, prepared for next steps.
Jawa 592 250cc, full restoration project. Part 1
Переглядів 3297 місяців тому
This is Part 1 of slow restoration progress. Jawa 592 is powered with 250cc 2 stroke engine. 592 model is slightly better version of 559 model, as it’s export variant for UK market. Because of that it had to meet certain standards. Bike reminds my childhood, this build has sentimental value for me so knowing this i wont be rushing and will take my time.

    Why, there was a dry line next to the puddle? In northeastern Ohio I totaled my 22 CB500X last Sept on a dirt/gravel road riding through clay water puddles 3 to 6 inches deep. Came to one that had 3 inches of clay water on top, but also 25 inches of soft clay. Clay stopped the bike, keeping it upright, I flipped through the windscreen landing on my back. Air intake was below the level of the water, hydro locked the motor, totaled the bike. No cell service, walked 1/2 mile to a farm, the owner pulled the bike out with his dump truck. Be diligent of the hidden dangers lurking under puddles.

      I have tried that dry path, not really visible from this angle, but my bike stuck on centre stand, so had mo option just to go through puddle. Also my friend went through first on his CRF300L. So i have seen how deep it is ;) sad to hear that your bike was totalled

    That came out looking new enough. No crazy fumes where you dont need a mask? And I just look up coach paint? I know you showed the can but it didnt say enamal or acrylic, i dont know what I'm doing or details. These results though are all need for my cracking clear coat hood.

    Don't try painting this colour outside during the uk summer. Flies can't resist it. Years ago whist working fo british coal I was given a painting job to do. I had to paint 4 inch pipes yellow as they were to be used for methane. It was summer and once the flies found us that was it. Luckily the painting wasn't for cosmetic purpose so no real harm done. A van paint job is another story.

    Years ago I painted my EJ Holden panel van with Camouflage Green British Paint (house paint) with a brush. I put the car in the sun 25° C Australia. Put the paint on a bit thick. The heat made the paint smooth out to the point you had to get within 6 inches to see lite brush marks. I was very happy untill I parked it in the bush and when I returned I started to think someone had stollen my car untill I saw a reflection off one of the windows. 😂😂

    Hello this is fantastic, Youve inspired me to get these seats for our vivaro. Does the electronic seat memory position work? M1,2,3 and heated seat mode? Very cool thanks for sharing.

    • @Motorbikewiz
      @Motorbikewiz 7 місяців тому

      To power up motors is easy just needed power supply, but memory buttons and heated seat option is operated through they ecu. Maybe some very clever electrician would be able get them working. But that's out of my knowledge limit...

    Overall an improvement at a distance, but the non smooth imperfections would drive me mad, I once was convinced by a painter a decorator to do this to an old car when I was young and more self conscious of what other people thought, did not like the effect as it looked cheap. But its a personal perspective thing.

    This is almost certainly a 5JJ and not a 4XV despite any 4XV markings you might find on certain parts. The electric cable will have 5JJ strap, carbs will have 5JJ engravings, the water temperature read-out will be different size and location than a 4XV, the rear end...and many other differences. Most important one is if it has an air injection system on the exhaust side. Then its a 5JJ for sure.

    • @TriAngles3D
      @TriAngles3D 3 роки тому

      @@Motorbikewiz I actually agree with you. :) The confusion is that the base parts were all 4XV. Even the inlet valves. However, there were over 150 modification made for the 00/01 models. These are labeled as 5JJ. Check the carbs, do they have 4XV engravings? These should be 5JJ. Does the exhaust side have a AIS? At the cylinder base/foot you should see 5JJ. The speedometer is certainly a 5JJ as well as the rear fairing...Yes, I have several first gen R1s.
