Santa Claus Is Coming For You (Metal Parody)
First of all, if you have kids, especially if they still believe in Santa... they probably, definitely shouldn't hear this.
Also, sorry Mom and Dad, I know you're not gonna like it. But it's FUNNY.
The original lyrics are already so accidentally threatening enough, I couldn't help myself but make it just a little more threatening.
It was BEGGING to be a parody.
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed that. It was just an idea that I cranked out last minute, while I had a minute.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

First of all, I don't own this music, this is just a project of passion, and love for the band, and I certainly do not expect any monetary gain from doing this. If the song is under copyright, and the video gets claimed, if ads are put on this video, I want the money to go to the estate of the writers and their families, but I will not try to monetize it for myself. I will make the midi file an...

Eddie Van Halen Tribute - Panama Full Cover

Eddie Van Halen was, and is a legend. I was heavily influenced by him as a musician, as I think a lot of us were. The fact that he is gone is a hard pill to swallow, but he will certainly live on through the incredible music that he left behind, and through the inspiration he has given us, and will give us for generations to come. Thank you, Eddie. I also want to extend a huge thank you to the ...

Being involved in 3 different contests, I needed to take a break and just do something different. So I did this. Tried to get somewhat of an 80's sound out of my kit while still being somewhat modern sounding. I know there's a little "push-pull" with the tempo, I couldn't use a click to keep time in this one, because I'm pretty sure it wasn't originally recorded that way back in the 80's... alt...

      @daviansometimes I'm not in front of my computer right now to have this exactly right, but you should be able to find it in the preferences menu, I believe, and select it as a midi controller, and then on the track, you set it as your input, instead of "input 1", and usually select "all channels". I know that's vague, but I hope it helps.

    How are these Busses routed? are they summing up signals from respective instruments and then sending them to the "boss" track? For some reason my Tom bus when muted is still heard.

    • @TheJakePoole
      @TheJakePoole 6 місяців тому

      The busses should have no routing to or from them. Routing is only to the individual instrument tracks. I just prefer to divide the instrument tracks onto busses to use as a sort of "master fader" for it. Also, plugins placed on each buss will affect every track within that buss. For example, the snare top, bottom, and sample tracks will all go under a track labeled "Snare Buss", and you can use that "Snare Buss" as a fader and to process all 3 snare tracks simultaneously, rather than individually. I guess I sort of just threw the busses in there out of habit, because I route many things this way. You don't technically need them, but I find they add a lot of quality of life to mixing. Hah. But hopefully that helps!

      @@TheJakePoole When I mute a tom buss (sub folder) I still hear the toms for some reason. Can't figure out how the signal passes in Reaper.

    • @TheJakePoole
      @TheJakePoole 6 місяців тому

      @synthesaurus When it is unmuted and the toms are playing, do you see the meter moving on the individual tom tracks? It's hard to tell what's going on without being able to be hands-on with it, unfortunately. If the meter is only moving on the track with the drum plugin on it, then you may not have routed the audio out of the drum plugin correctly.

    Great video I just had another quick question so after I got it all set up and I've got my Edrums that I want to record to this layout would I have to arm each track I'm a little new to this by the way I'm using Reaper and the free version of SSD as you have shown in this video thanks for answering my previous question

    • @TheJakePoole
      @TheJakePoole 6 місяців тому

      I have a Roland TD17-KVX kit and all I have to do is set it as the midi input on the main track that has SSD5 on it. You may have to do some changes as far as what "midi note" your kit plays when you strike the pads, but that's pretty easy to do. I think I had to do it when I added a 4th tom pad to my kit, but it's been a while so I don't remember exactly what I did. I think it can be changed in either your kit module or SSD5.

    • @TheJakePoole
      @TheJakePoole 6 місяців тому

      @davepoulsen-bi9un If you're using my template, it's possible that it's because the version of SSD5, or location of your plugin data is different than what I had at the time. What happens if you open your SSD5 in a different project instead? Does it work there and just not in my template? If so, you'll probably have to replace the plug-in on the track with what you have, which means you'll probably have to do all the routing within SSD5 again, but all of the Reaper-side of the routing will already be done. If not, then most likely you either moved the ".dll" file of SSD5 to another folder, or deleted it somehow. I Googled "SSD5 DLL not detected in Reaper" and the first search result was a Reddit post that may be helpful to you.

      You can save it as a template, basically just save the project once you've set it up, and if you ever use it, just hit "save as" and change the name of the project to save the new thing without overwriting the template. If it helps, I do have an empty template of this project in the video available. There's a download link in the description. 😊

    Easy to get full "gushy splatty' toms with longer, heavier sticks. Also I've found the spherical tip shapes, like an SD1, sound better on the heads but lose a certain something in the cymbals. 7A sticks with acorn tips sound great on cymbals but don't move the skins enough for rock drum tuning unless you REALLY pay attention to your technique. Lately I've found that 5Bs sound great and even SD1s are sounding and feeling better to me when I'm sweeping the kit. Still love my 8Ds, 7As and 5As for tunes that require more cymbal articulation.
