Sri Solapuri Mata Puja/Muthyalama Mata Puja celebrated for over 100 years, is famous for its yearly yatra. The 9 days festival is celebrated with great pomp as the home coming of the goddess yearly in the month of may.
Goddess made from turmeric is worshipped for 9 days and the visarjan is done on 10th day with a grand procession (in few places puja is performed for 5 or 7 days also).
The followed customs focuses that the goddess is conceived as a daughter given away in marriage, visits her father's house once a year. Her presence at (parental) home is celebrated as the festival period. The highlight of the festival is the procession of the deity on the visarjan day, procession witness devotees adorning themselves as Kali and other deities to offers prayers to Goddess.
