Kanding is frontier aka border town of Tibet where Chinese tradera and Tibetan traders do business through barter. Kanding is Chinese name and Dar Tse Do is Tibetan. Chinese have changed so many names of places in Tibet to look more Chinese. Eg. Ngari is called Ali now. Ngari borders Ladakh, Himachal and UP.

Many many years ago I found the book, The Third Eye by Lobsang Rampa.... I found it on the street in NYC and in Spanish... obviously I adopted it and was entranced by the fairy tale which takes place in Nepal. Have you read it?
