This part documents my trip from Picton to Havelock via the Queen Charlotte Track in the north of the south island. When did you start?

    I did the forest stream way because bush stream was in flood. Not much better that way. But the views were wicked. Come out between stone hut and royal hut.

      I thought long and hard about forest stream too since there was probably less crossings. Bush stream was tough going, at one point I took a wrong turn thinking if I could climb over an embankment but that was a dead end with a cliff below and wasted effort.

    Looking forward to doing the Queen Charlotte in October. Like you I'll be doing sections of the South Island track. I'm from New Zealand and working full-time so will do a few days at a time. Not doing the North Island though except for the Tongariro Crossing.

      Being away from home or work is tough. A lot of people I hiked with were from europe so coming and going just wasnt an option. But good on you however you get it done its so very enriching and something you'll never forget!

    Just found your channel will binge watch to catch up with your South Island adventure. Love the river crossing comment on the beach (lucky you didn't get your feet wet there 😂) would be great to see a video of the gear you're using. Maybe a big 3 reveal and then another on the rest of your head and also what your base weight is.

    Good km done on those last few days. I was lucky enough to do it in 5 days for the same reason, the lodge and the pizza and beers. The top hills track was worth it tho mate, you missed out on a good gut buster to the end. Ta efi

    Why do you go up via Tengpoche when there is a much more impressive trail high on the opposite side of the valley going Namche - Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche? Takes the same amount of time but offers vastly better views high across the valley. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down.

    Subscribed! Hey do you think I can take my toddler there? I've read somewhere there's some rocks you need to climb down on.

    • @adamneedsaholiday9263
      @adamneedsaholiday9263 3 роки тому

      There is about 2 or 3 rocks (about 2 or 3 metres down) to scramble down that would require 3 points of contact to climb down safely. Nevertheless it may be a bit too dangerous to take a toddler as there's no phone reception out there if anything were to wrong.
