A war injury made it difficult for Hans Haupt to carry both a walking stick and an umbrella, so he set about creating a solution. The result? The first umbrella with a collapsible frame. It fit neatly into his pocket and was always available when it rained. The Knirps umbrella was created. In 1928 the first varieties were produced and the 95 year old success story began. Knirps has been a market leader in the development and design of umbrellas ever since. The brand is well known in Europe and throughout the world.
