You always have the i would have guys out there . Every incident is different situations change within seconds turning it to shi* . Props to the IC staying calm and keeping order .
God bless you brother hope you are ok
I’m retired from a small department. We always would have a line in place. One thing I learned, I was not there, so stfu
Nobody is acknowledging the pass device that has been going off forever
Brave Souls May God Always Be With You
Live audio would have been better than the music that was added.
I just came looking for the real firemen.
Lose the music.
6 guys standing around doing nothing with fire pushing...smart
If you didn't hear in the video, there were hoarder like conditions on the inside. The initial search teams consisted of 4 members. My crew was backing up the attack team going to the second floor. Yes, we respond with an aggressive approach. I assure you, everyone had a roll.
Vent the roof and get ladders to the second floor windows.
You may have not heard in the video. The request was made if ventilation was needed or not. We chose not to vertically ventilate in this situation due to the majority of the fire burning on the first floor and rear sun room and partial basement. After the debrief we learned that the lower garage doors on the delta side of the house were opened by another crew, possibly contributing to the rapid fire spread. Also, upon re-entry ladder were deployed.
Non-fire fighter here, can you help me understand what happened? Crew trapped behind the flashover?
I'm a captain in North Carolina. So a flash over is where everything catches fir, even the smoke itself instantly. So, with heavy black smoke and oxygen, it was what it needed to flash. A lot of firefighters don't make it out a flashover. Sometimes, it's hard to read. A mayday is where a fire fighter is trapped or hurt or the safety of another fire fighter. Once they call mayday, the one in charge will ask for an update ( Luner) report. And only one talks at that time will be firefighter in trouble. Also, you will hear 3 blast of air horn that tells everyone there that they need to get out and stand by for a per count. So they know who there and who is in trouble. Then everything switches to let's save our guy first and everything else second. Hopefully, that helps a bit
The Mayday was called due to the nozzle firefighter initially being unaccounted for by his officer. I was backing up the initial interior fire attack crew along with my tailboard and officer. There was rapid fire spread throughout the first floor causing us to have to back out of the second floor. There should have been an additional hose line deployed to the first floor it just wasn't in play yet when the event happened. Ultimately, we were caught in a "roll-over" event more than a flashover.
@@petersjason27 Thanks Capt. that's a great explanation. This definitely was not a flashover event. We were just caught above grade while the fire began to ventilate toward our position. Luckily, the stairway was only a few feet from the front door. Our IC is as good as they come.
Appreciate the explanation, and thanks for your service to your communities.
Just took a look at some of your other videos. Excellent channel and hope to see more in the future!
Absolutely terrifying experience to be trapped like that. Kudos to that firefighter for that incredible catch. Stay safe!
that green spike indicates a badass helmet pictures please?
From one truckie to another, strong work boys. TL19 DFD.
There seems to be a lot people on here who know a lot about Dekalb County Fire Rescue. But yet based on the input from said people it seems like there is quite a lack of real experience. Go eat another donut while you bash a highly aggressive department that see’s more fire in a year than any of you will see in your entire “career”
Y’all got any company patches?
Yes we do
Great POST. I used to live in South Dekalb. Good to see 20 again.
this is awesome
Jack plates? GTFO lol
Rules are rules brother. MFG requirement.
@@dekalbtwenty4258 lol, ok!
Vair nice job you guys did
Good job , the first job looked like a organized training fire ? Still great job be safe
No training fire brother. All working incidents. Mostly all occupied at the time of the fires. Thanks for checking us out!
Great job fire fighter brother in sister be safe out there
I agree, no ground ladders, no one to the roof for ventilation. Absolutely everyone went to the stairwell and clogged it up. The second handline opened up on no fire, they opened up because it was hot. ALOT of training needs to happen here. Thank the lord above that nothing went wrong because this would have been a tragedy.
Thanks for watching. First thing, this helmet cam was from the firefighter on the 3rd due engine. There was already 1 engine company on fire attack, 1 truck company on primary search. I was riding on the 2nd due truck ,not far behind this firefighter. We actually went to the roof and performed vertical ventilation. There was a slight bottleneck at the front door due to high heat and congestion with the split level stairs. But, there were ladders thrown (by me) as well as ventilation (by me). I did not have a helmet cam at the time of this video. So please, ask questions and I will answer, but do not assume you see the whole situation from a single perspective.
Was the tiller oos? This y’all’s regular truck now?
The "powers that be" deemed the tiller more useful at Sta 21 in Oct 2019. Tk20 is running in an SPH100 now. Well, when its not in the shop.
@@dekalbtwenty4258 🤦🏻♂️ sorry to hear about your loss.lol good ol’ powers to be.
Nice lid
Thank you sir
Thankfully those ground ladders went up with 7 people in line to go In the front door. 6 we'll excuse the guy with the pipe in hand.

You can literally hear the chief call for ladders at 1:45

Just lost 7:19 of my life. But I’m sure there is a wonderful reason the TL is out on the street instead of in the driveway.
Sorry, it's taken me a while in responding. What do you mean by TL? Not every dept. has the same terminology.
@@dekalbtwenty4258 ....Tower Ladder
@@heavy7799 Have you ever had a driveway fail due to the weight of the apparatus? We have. Our SOG does not allow most apparatus to leave the roadways due to safety, ie... setting up on grass or off roadways or sidewalks/ driveways. Thin concrete. carrying ladders and tools is part of the job. We do advocate for the aerial to "take the address" which it did. Thank you for the clarification on the terminology.
@@dekalbtwenty4258 ...fires don’t always happen in perfect conditions. If the ground isn’t soft, as in didn’t have much rainfall in recent days, and the rig will fit them put it where it’s suppose to be. Put the plates down and set the rig up to go to work. “Sorry mamm, your son was killed fighting a fire because we were to nervous to set up our $1 million dollar truck. We saw him at the the top floor window but took to long to get to him”. Where I’m from out TL chauffeur will put the aerial scope anywhere it’ll fit and be up it operation in minutes.
@@heavy7799 We've never had an issue with throwing portable ladders. If you're relying on a TL for rescue on a single family dwelling then maybe the tactics should be reconsidered. We are a very busy truck company. More rescues have been done by portable ladders than aerials. We do serve in a suburban area of Atlanta.
Would love to understand what the E/O is doing twizzling with the pressure (?) of the (?) two attack lines. Curious Civilian here.
Sometimes pressures fluctuate in the first few minutes after deployment. Just trying to get discharge pressures fine tuned. Some D/O's are more OCD than others.
Nice job! Love the music choice as well. Stay safe brother
