The sanitere are probably a volta/progress/electrolux. Looks like something from the 80s, i remember seing them selling in supermarkets here as a cheaper machine or sort of budget on, i could it has the normal hozeconnection from that time and 32 mm attachments.

Sweden’s Electrolux “gobbled up” a lot of vacuum companies in the 1970’s including Volta in Sweden, Eureka in North America, Yelmo in Argentina and a company called Progress in West Germany. Because they had the rights to all these brand names, they were able to import and export different models between different countries and rebrand them however they wanted. The Sanitaire canister you have was made by Progress in Germany. You can find the European version if you Google “staubsauger Progress”. In a weird bit of corporate acrobatics, we Canadians saw another Progress canister sold under the Beaumark name - the house brand for Canada’s Hudson Bay department stores. They were brought in via Canada’s division of Electrolux which had acquired Canada’s Eureka factory as part of their overall takeover of Eureka.

We replaced our Kirby with a Sharp in 1996 when the fan in our Kirby gave out. This was before my parents got divorced. My mom got the Sharp and my dad got a Hoover Concept when they split. The Sharp ended up going to my sister and it died.

Is it normal for these to underperform

Nice Fantom Fury. I've recently got hands on to one of these units this year from another vacuum collector here. It is a 1997 Fantom Fury 10 Amp that has the sticker on the logo. It is in nice condition, however the base on mine broke during shipping along with the pedal release, as I have ordered a new base and a new cyclone assembly to replace the carrying handle. Mine sounds loud, but it's mainly the fans being caked in dust which I can service the motor. Overall great video!

Im trying to find a Kenmore bagless because I miss Sears the most. This most be the smaller kenmore bagless canister here.

Are you planning on selling these units? I have that unit from 93 or 94. I keep it maintained and it runs like a champ! Need new wands though too. Looking for good suggestions on replacement wands.

how old is the silver king ae canister vacuum

Hi Mitchell, I have the same exact vacuum, I bought my parents house in 1996 and they left me the vacuum and I still have it today, it’s in perfect condition and actually the same exact color , you mentioned that they came out in 1999, is it possible they could have came out earlier because I know that this was left behind when I bought the house in 1996 ? I’m not trying to say your wrong , you know a heck of a lot more about vacuums than me, I’m just wondering if they had very similar models prior to 1999… thanks

I just bought one of these Hoover model 2040 slimline canister vacuum cleaners from the original owner/seller on eBay. They sent me a video of the motor running & switching it off. In the video, it sounds good. One of the back wheels looks like it started disintegrating. But that's ok, I may just use it for parts, as I also have the lime green model 2017, that I bought in memory of my late aunt, who had a model 2017 when I was little. 😊

Got any leads for filters for this one?

My parents have a tristar. It would be the next up model from this. Bought it 20 yrs ago. Still work amazing.

Is it hard to hear the music while vacuuming

I recently dropped mine and i cant figure out how to open it to fix it, i know it has something to do with the slides, but i cant figure them out. Any advice?

I started working at a vac shop towards the tail end of when these were produced. We still had the bucket of sand and the clear disc. I sold a few and ordered the commercial model 4150 for myself. These were great units and I always thought the burgundy Master Dealer ones were gorgeous (we couldn't get those). The handle control models like the one shown in this video were neater than the last versions with the speed control and main power switch on the body.

Any idea if anyone repairs them?

My question is what was Hoover thinking using bottom fill design with this.

The 9 amp models were identical in design to this one other than the lights and color. I think they also had white cords.

Hi Mitchell, hope you’re doing well. One of my neighbors had one of these a long time ago and I remember she bought it since it was new. I remember using it at her house too when she got it definitely a rare Kenmore you don’t see too often. 😊

I just ordered one of these for only $100! Given the outrageous prices people charge for Fantoms now I think I got pretty lucky. I wonder if it would be possible to make a DIY pre-motor filter for it so that less stuff would get into the motor.
