"I like going in and it's a S***FEST and make it not... that." IMT Inero's Summer Move
Nick 'Inero' Smith has seen it all. From early amateur days, to his time in OCE, to coaching Echo Fox, and swapping to management at his last role, his latest move BACK to coaching is just par for the course. But how did this happen? Why this team and why now? We sit down and discuss what he's been up to and what the future with IMT looks like in the 2024 League Championship Series summer split.
I have moved to Korea to host LCK Global broadcasts, but will continue to cover leagues remote.

    Nobody in the comments seems to understand that saying what you believe to be true is a great communication device. Which is nice if you want to get better as a team, which is probably... you know, the goal of an esports org? Inspired comes out as having a pretty big ego but he's good, not the best in the world but surely in LCS, I think there's no debate about that, so maybe ego is kinda warranted? They are going to MSI at least

    • @abouttime2569
      @abouttime2569 8 місяців тому

      You are not understanding why people are hating on him. 1) He is making these comments in an interview where everybody can hear it. These opinions should be private when you are with your team. 2) He is being biased as he is being too generous towards Bwipo and being harsh on Jensen. Also, 100% honesty is not a great communication device at all. You have to pick and choose when to be honest and how you word it to be a great communication device.

    • @CrazyWolverine
      @CrazyWolverine 8 місяців тому

      @@abouttime2569 I straight up disagree with every single thing you said in the context of this interview (I don't want to argue that telling kids 100% truth about everything is a good idea for example) except your point about his bias, I'm not about to rewatch the whole interview to analyze if he's biased or not. He voiced his opinions and every pro player should have their own opinions; whether he's wrong or right is debatable but voicing those opinions is not at all a bad thing - I'm sure the discussion he's had with his team after the interview was productive at the least and heated at the worst. Being a pro is not about being nice, it's about winning. If you think a team can get better without ever having clashes and people being passionate about their opinions I'm not sure if you have experienced competition on the highest level. To be honest, I haven't either, but I can empathise and imagine what's it like, I am sure that his goal is not only to win NA but also to win Worlds (I don't think it's realistic but I'd imagine so). You also seem to forget that the interview was done right after a loss, not a win. I don't think he said anything that warrants the flame he got, not everything in life has to be soft and nice; not everyone has to be softspoken and pleasant, I am pretty sure his teammates would rather hear him flame them than have him play worse because he doesn't feel comfortable sharing what he believes to be the issues. As for if that's for public to know or not, that's his call. I am glad he did say everything he did, because it's interesting to see how his mind works, I'd much rather hear his answers straight up and raw instead of censored b******t procured by some PR person, I hope the backlash doesn't mean that he's gonna be more tame in interviews in the future.

    • @CrazyWolverine
      @CrazyWolverine 8 місяців тому

      tl;dr: I understand why he got flamed but I think nothing he said is that bad, it's just how he is as a person and not everyone has to be nice all the time

    • @abouttime2569
      @abouttime2569 8 місяців тому

      @@CrazyWolverine You don't have to be softspoken and pleasant to not be an Ahole. If his criticism can only be brought up by somewhat of a rough style to be influential, then I don't blame him. But I am quite sure that was not the case. Also, him talking about this in a public interview serves no additional purpose than just for the viewers' entertainment. Nothing more. That is his fault then.

    • @CrazyWolverine
      @CrazyWolverine 8 місяців тому

      @@abouttime2569 I think after the drakos interview we can just agree that jensen doesn't really care and doesn't see it as "being an ahole", and that's what matters. The community has blown this out of proportion and I wish for more interviews like this one in the future

    If you’re curious why NA will never produce winners, just look at the NA reaction to this extremely fair and mild criticism. It’s unbelievable.

    • @noahhaller4540
      @noahhaller4540 8 місяців тому

      NA doesnt produce winners because LPL has 7 times the playerbase and 50 times the ranked and competitive playerbase. Korea is similar. NA/LCS are effectively a minor region in those terms. Also, our region has 60ms ping for pros in soloqueue, whereas its very near zero for China and Korea. If NA/LCS was winning, something would be extremely wrong with LCK and LPL with their massive playerbase population advantage. And no the criticism is just wrong. Bwipo inted or did nothing each game, Inspired made bad calls, Inspired forced Jensen into annie duty even though it didnt work for them, and they have a rookie botlane who inted less than their veteran topside. Bwipo even said during game 3 that he will 1v9 on gangplank (Counterpick btw) if team lets him farm, next teamfight he missed every barrel, they lose teamfight lose game. But not a single critique of Bwipo. Also he blamed Jensen playing vegan in game 1, where they went 1 to 19 kills. First Blood that game was Busio, following Inspired's call to contest dragon. 2nd death was again Busio, being dived at tower, with Inspired not covering and not having presence elsewhere on the map, even though they had vision of Umti for 15 seconds before the dive began, instead he was farming. Next 2 deaths were Jensen/Busio in a 4v5 in for dragon and then botlane, while Impact TP'd for fight and Bwipo, with TP, did not also go to the fight. Next 2 deaths were Inspired Jensen, was a mid jungle 2v2, but Umti was there 4 seconds faster, leading to Jensen dying after being stunlocked and not getting many spells off. Next 3 deaths was Jensen/Inspired/Busio getting caught out, and Fly trying to save him just kept walking into an outnumbered fight. Next was Inspired diving into all 5 members of TL by ulting Ksante. Next was Bwipo getting caught out after a skirmish by walking into jungle and not leaving with team. Next 3 was Inspired/Bwipo/Busio, Bwipo was out of position, lost 80% of health before the baron teamfight, Inspired dived way too deep, and Busio got Taliyah walled in after fight was lost. Next was Bwipo, out of position, fighting Ksante for no reason, getting ulted into the rest of TL, when he knew they were coming. Then Fly gets aced in the resulting 4v5. In that disaster of a game, Jensen made 1 clear error getting caught in toplane. Inspired made 5 clear errors, bad dragon call, late to midjungle fight, trying to save Jensen after he was already dead top, then ulting Ksante to follow him into 5 man TL, then going way too deep in a lost baron fight. Bwipo made 4 errors, not TP'ing when his lane partner did leading to an outnumbered fight, then getting caught after skirmish because he didnt leave with team, Bwipo being out of position and losing 80% of health before anyone else on his team was there for baron, and then Bwipo getting caught by Ksante again, leading to his team getting aced, and losing game. So saying "I played well game 1, it was vegan mids fault" when he went 0/5/1. Everyone on Fly was vegan cause no one could do anything. Inspired played for himself, let Massu and Busio repeatedly get dived bot, but he didnt do anything to get Jensen ahead, didnt do anything to get Bwipo ahead, played for himself and did nothing with it. That game was the biggest jungle gap of the entire split. Umti was part of 17 of the 19 kills that game. The 2 kills he didnt help in was Busio rundown after they won baron teamfight, and Bwipo getting caught bot when TL aced Fly. Its honestly as if that was a 4v5 with just how much presence Umti had compared to the zero presence of Inspired. It was a horrible game for inspired, bad game for Bwipo, poor game for Jensen, and honestly Massu did amazing with how little he got from his team, with zero ganks, roams, TPs, constant enemy jungle presence, Massu still did well. But when Inspired recalls the game, Jensen was vegan, totally his fault that they lost game, just couldn't play map because his mid. Like Inspired just did nothing. TL;DR Inspired is hard coping about his own performance, worst player on the team by far in game 1, says he did well, makes no mention of the toplaner who hard inted by getting picked or nearly getting picked before every teamfight, instead blames the mid and bot who got zero help from him. Also he forced Jensen into annie duty, so bonus points for forcing a bad pick for your team onto a mid who clearly didnt like it.
